If they have made a decent bid I'm gutted to say it but surely we should take it I'd say currently he's at best 5th choice for a starting role and if basic is close to fitness he may find himself 6th choice for the rest of the season surely a decent bid for our 6th choice centre mid needs to be accepted even though I'd be gutted to see him leave

Hi James it seems like a good offer, but who knows mate Bill handles all of this, we have refused the offer so it could go either way mate, holding out for a better bid I think, GuernseyBlue

It will be and indeed as I type it has been rejected. McArthy believe it or not is an integral part of this Squad. To play the Koeman way you need players with not only the abilities but engines. McArthy at times may look like a headless chicken but under Koemans system he will flourish.

I'm a fan of McCarthy and I agree with bigduncsmum . Koeman likes hard work and Jimmy mc has plenty of that and will be vital in more away games when we sit on the counter press high n counter attack.

But I also can see this is MS so maybe if we get somewhere near the 20 mark he could go.

However it is a department we are strongest in. I would like to see him stay. If he wants to move to play good luck to the lad I haven't got a bad word to say about him.

During his first year. when Martinez came along. he and rest of team flourished. he may have had two disappointing season since then but so has the team generally. Personally I thought against Liverpool he was our best player. indeed I thought we dominated until he was replaced at half time. I guess all I'm saying is don't be quick to judge. However, the issue facing the manager is with, Schneiderlin, Ghana, Barkley, Davies, mirrallas, besic. not to mention midfielders we have out on loan, how much playing team will James mc get in the near term? Personally, I think that selling James mc now would be silly business. talk about strength and depth I think the summer is the time to assess his role in the team.

The games he has played we looked a better side. If he is to go then in today's money he must be worth 20mill at least. For once we don't need to sell but if we are going to at least get the maximum for him.

If the right offer comes in and we bring in another striker then I will be happy. But he has been fantastic and I hope we see the best McCarthy again soon! (Hopefully not against us) .

Don't get me wrong I wasn't criticising Mccarthy it's just in the short term I think he's behind gana Davies schniederlin and Barry and if/ when fit besic we can only have a 25 man squad I struggle to see where he fits in I fully accept that Barry hasn't long left and besic and Gibson keep the physios at the club employed but even taking those 2 out he's at best 4 choice and with the emergence of some of the u23 squad can we have a player that wants to play and commands a good fee just to make the numbers up or will freeing a squad space up with a fee that will help with ffp rules be more beneficial?

I agree Jcl. Keep Mc Carthy we need 4 top class centre midfielders. Davies, Schneiderlin, gueye and Mc carthy.

Senagal are out of the African cup so Gauye will be back next week.
With the emergence of Davies and with Besic being nearly fit we can let McCarthy go as we have plenty of cover in central midfield

I would sell mcarthy now while we can . £20 million for a player that spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch is not bad
