Interesting that Brands has come out saying he won't be buying a mega bucks striker because he doesn't want to hinder the progress of Riky, DCL and Lookman.
Looks like he really is changing our transfer approach to a long term stratey of bringing youth through.

I have to say, DCL has massively improved this season. Not quite ready to lead the line every game but certainly getting better.

We have a problem with to many high wages on the books and cannot do much till we sell them. Financial fair play rules etc.
I think we also need a goalkeeper first, you have to be able to defend, also we do not know who will be manager next season.
If it is Siva we will need championship players for the season after.

{Ed025's Note - i believe the names of david moyes and phillip cocu have been put forward by brands if moshiri decides on a plan B, i have to say im not happy about moyes..

My understanding is that Brands was recruited because of his talent at identifying raw talent that would not cost an arm and a leg. He is hardly going to tell anyone about his targets is he?

Optimistic of you Dc. your right about the wages though.

I think I remember Moshiri saying he was particularly looking for a young manager who can play attacking football. Moyes definitely doesn't fit that description. I wonder how many fans would accept Moyes coming back.

{Ed025's Note - certainly not me smit..

I'm for giving Silva time but if the decision to sack and re hire happened in the summer, I'd go Cocu, who brands knows very well, or Fonseca. Moyes, not for me. backwards step appointing him and a big one at that. And don't give me the " he hasn't had the money to spend" because he did at man utd and got booted quickly there. Then Spain didn't work out for him did it.

Marco Silva will be coaching EFC in Europe in the Fall of 2020. The negativity among our fanbase is toxic. Give the man his due chance.

I’m sorry but don’t see how you can make statement like that - he has spent a lot of money and seen team slide down table. What gives you confidence in him. We concede too many - tactics not great - no history of success - sacked in every job in England.

We've identified Silva for a reason and fought to get him. The players he and Brands have brought in have been among our best players this season. During the good moments, it seems we have the legitimate makings of a system. This year was always going to be a transition year and we shouldn't be so results-oriented in the short term. He should be given another summer transfer window to bring in more players who play his style of football and another season to build off the good moments and cut down on the poor ones. We can't keep switching from system to system and expect any consistency from the players or in the team's performance. Let's give the guy the team wanted a chance to do the things we brought him here to do.

COYB that’s probably the best and most sensible post I have seen on here for a long time.
Yes there are faults with a young group of players and a massive transitional season.
We have shown in flashes what some of the players can achieve. Pickford will be a top keeper but is still young for a keeper and needs to mature.
Holgate will come back more experienced.
Kenny, DCL have had more games and looking more comfortable. I would like to see Davies and Lookman getting more game time and be ready for next season.
There will be a lot of the squad moving on in the summer transfer window.
I don’t think we need to sign a drastic amount of players, more the right players. A leader somewhere on the team and a more experienced proven goalscorer up front, maybe Gana to be replaced, Gomes and Zouma signed. Always said a right back, Kenny is steady but maybe Holgate could solve the problem as he is doing so well playing there for West Brom.
