If zouma lands I would be seriously annoyed if we don't go all out and land a goalscorer. I think we have enough creativity in the squad and the defence would be solid enough.
The missing piece of our jigsaw is a goalscorer.
If we enter the new season without at least bidding for a quality striker I honestly will be tearing my hair out. I have faith in M&M though so fingers crossed.

I would assume we are going all out to land a goalscorer. It's obvious we need one but it's a really difficult position to fill. Some of the names that are getting thrown about (one's that seem realistic) don't fill me with much though. If we get Zouma and shift a few more out I would say it's been a good window.

A lot of new players last season went straight into the starting 11, taken them the time to gel, I'm condfident even if we don't get a goal scorer we will get more goals than last season. It's just wheteher that will be enough.

I’m with you fatchris, goalscorers from other leagues don’t always work out in Prem, and we should know. If we get Zouma then great. If we don’t get this mythical 20 goal striker then that’s fine, work with what we have.

Like everyone else I would like a striker who can score 15-20 goals a year. However they don't come cheap and the best probably want European football. What we can't afford to do is get another expensive flop who can't score for us and we end up having to loan out in an attempt to recover some of the cost. Hopefully Brands has identified some young player with potential who we can get at a reasonable cost.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair Mike one of the issues is that Everton have not given a sustained chance to the likes of Tosun.}

Agreed ed002, Was thinking more about Ramirez than Tosun.

I would like to think if tosun had as many minutes as DCL then I think he would have scored a lot more goals. I agree that he hasn't really been given a chance.

The answer is staring us right in the face. Richarlison scored as many last season as most strikers we could realistically buy.
What we need is Bernard, our right winger (whoever that may be next season) to chip in with 10-15 between them. Also Gomes will most likely get more than his 1 goal this season.
I'd stick with Richarlison and DCL and wouldn't be gutted if we didn't sign a striker.
Sign Malcolm for the right and a young raw striker to bring through in 1 to 2 seasons.

Agree Smit, and we already have a young striker coming through in Ellis Simms.

I take your point about Richarlison and certainly don't want us to blow loads of money on a striker that isn't good enough, but for me Richarlison was less effective up top than out wide. I don't think it's ideal to take the edge off one of your key players by playing him out of position! Having said that if we don't get a striker in I won't be doom-mongering and will trust Richarlison to do a job for us!

I agree with you Toffee and Ed02. I don't understand why Tosun hasn't ben given more of a chance, even of the bench when the defence is tired and a bit slower. I also don't think we should play Richarlison up top, he scores more, creates more and draws defenders to him on the wing, it's a no brainer for me.

I am sure if Tosun had the play time of DCL he would have scored more but I doubt he could work as hard of the ball as DCL could. I hope he gets a sustained chnace next year.

I agree with your points on Tosun, however, if we don’t sign a striker, for me you’ve got to stick with DCL. He occupiers both centre halves, offers physicality, aerial threat, runs the channels, he works the centre halves far more than Tosun who is just a finisher for me. If there was some way of getting Tosun and DCL up top as a pair, I think that could really work well, although that wouldn’t happen as it would mean Bernard, Richarlison or sigurdsson would miss out.

Richarlison scored 6 off the left, 5 as a striker and 3 on the right. He played similar amount of games in all those positions.
I think another season up front and he'd get more as he learns the role.
Put him on the left and where does Bernard go?
I'd give him another season moving across the front 3.

Tosun knows where the net is but i'm not sure he has the first touch or the pace for what MS wants.
He showed when he arrived he can score goals but we play a different style now than we did under Fat Sam.

As regards Richarlison, he is clearly happier out wide so leave him there. He scored more goals from the left side BUT probably gave us more balance when he played right as we then had two good partnerships - Digne / Bernard and Coleman / Richarlison.

I keep hearing from Ed002 that we have too many left wingers. Yet we don't actually have a left footed left winger. So maybe Marco just wants the option?

For me, Mirallas can go, Walcott not good enough, Lookman has all the ability but by all accounts a poor attitude - so suddenly we are light on the flanks.

Richarilson and Bernard as the first choice wide men. Lookman and A. N. other as back up.

But if we are serious about top 6 ( and dare I say top 4) then we definitely need someone more prolific than Tosun or DCL.

Great from the bench or in DCL case in a couple of years. But we have had enough of 'manana'. Beed a top striker now.
