Not directly related to Everton but still affects where we end up in the league. and maybe when we play certain teams. I remember a few weeks ago discussing refereeing decisions for the "top 4" clubs with a few of you guys. Remember what I said about Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsy Whinger being manipulators of referees. by crititicising them when a decision went against them. and being happy to pay the 20 grand fine the FA imposed on them afterwards because it was chickeen feed compared to 3 points in the league. 2 weeks ag Whinger was up in front of the FA for pushing the ref. Yesterday Clattenburg allowed a handball goal for Sanchez. ok he may not have seen that one? But not to send Gibbs off for what was obviously a take out when the Hull forward was clean through. Gibbs was not even looking at the ball! Well that just supported my theory. Clattenburg was grit scared to send him off because he knew Whinger was waiting to lay into him verbally after the game. Until they punish the managers like Ferguson, Whinger, Mourinho with fines that equate to the deed. eg take points off them or fine them say £1,000,000 then this will continue. The score was 1 nil at the time and Hull were on top. but 11 against 11 meant Arsenal held on and scored on the break in the last minute. 3 points. Worth the 20 grand fine or whatever it was he got.

If a professional ref is making decisions based on what a manager may say to him should not be a referee. I agree to increase the punishment but to say the ref is scared is absolute tosh. We have refs at our local Sunday league who get grief from the players, the managers and the seven fans watching the game. The grief they get is far more intimidating than the moaners in the prem.

I would not put 100% trust any Ref in any sport, we need to go like Rugby, (cameras)

What is the old saying, "where there is money there is corruption".

On the topic of refs Mike Dean had a shocker yesterday. Clayton should have a received a second yellow for a late challenge on Davis and Ramirez should have seen red for his challenge on Baines. Clearly he got into to trouble for handing out too many reds and now is too scared to make any real decision (even the obvious ones)

CToffee you are absolutely right. I don't believe there is corruption as such. I just think that there are those decisions where the ref has to make a choice and he isnot 100% sure. Ref's have to do it all the time. I have refereed kids games beefore now and know from my own experience that the Mum's and Dad's on the sidelines are waiting to give you a hard time, so you make decisions as best you can. but when you know they are an obnoxious lot and you are not 100% sure about something, it is really difficult to decide with a clear mind. Clattenburg should have 100% sent off Gibbs. Dean should have 100% sent off 2. I would bet that if it was the opposition of Arsenal yesterday, they would have all been off.

I think that's exactly it degsy. I must say I don't envy the refs as they're only really spoken about when they get a decision wrong and not when they actually have a good game. That being said, it does seem that some refs are more lenient with certain teams and are much quicker to make a negative call against a lesser team playing against an Arsenal, Utd, City or Chelsea etc.

Guys referees have always made decisions on what club shirt the player happens to be wearing. Clattenberk is all about him, he 'missed' clear hand ball and bottled the sending off. Dean is just a clown. Need to do what they do in rugby, yes it adds a little time on, but at least they get it right.

Of course the system is bent. Have a little read about Mark Halsey earlier this season being asked to turn a blind eye.

Have a look at Gerrard telling Clattenburg to give a red instead of a yellow. As a ball is crossing the line in a merseyside derby and the ref blowing for full time.

TV is the answer maybe but if these two incidents happen in full view of millions I'm not sure what this is going to change.
