I'd like the get people's views on the goal keeper issue. It seems like a new number 1 is/ should be high on our list of summer targets.

One name which seems to consistently be linked to us is Pickford. While I'll be the first to admit that I haven't seen a lot of him, I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Sunderland, from what I have seen of him I haven't been that impressed.

Can anyone explain the massive interest in him from a number of clubs including Everton?

Not for me personally. Havent seen much special from him really, although was probably a rare highlight to an atrocious season for Sunderland. Young and British. he's going to get highlighted.

Haven't we learnt anything from the past. We always seem to go for the young keeper of the moment and pay over the odds (Richard Wright, Steve Simonsen etc) - the best keepers are one's who are solid and consistent season in, season out - you just have to buy them at the right time when their contracts are running down. I'd love to be proved wrong but I think there are much better and cheaper options than Pickford. Having said that people who know far more than me about goalkeeping seem to rate him so he can't be that bad. He had a very flappy game at Goodison which is maybe why we are all a little concerned.
