Ed - has the interest in Fulham's Dembelle disappeared? He is a great prospect. Secondly, what are your thoughts on McAleney? Looked promising preseason but now he doesn't get a sniff not even in cup games.

Avro

{Ed002's Note - For Everton it has gone. Manchester United and Bayern Munich have both been aware of Moussa Dembele since his time at PSG and were both interested in signing him when he opted for Fulham as a 16 year old. Newcastle, Lille, Juventus, Napoli, Everton and Spurs have also been looking at Dembele since the start of the season with recent glances from Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Marseille and Monaco. A move in January is possible with his contract running out at the end of the season but Slavisa Jokanovic will try and have him sign an extension, no doubt advising him that if he moves he could be sat on the bench or playing in the reserves.}

Dembele would be a good addition. Shame we didn't go for Austin tho. 4mil that's a bargain.

It may be wishful thinking but dooes anyone worry about del boy hitting good form only for barca to come and buy him back on the cheap, because they can?

Avro

1.) 02 Sep 2015 18:48:43
Not really. It's part of the deal and I would rather he helped us have a good season then go back to barca and get us a little bit of profit. I honestly don't believe they will take him back though. These deals are put into most contracts when they sell young players. The other option is hoping that he is awful which makes no sense to me at all because then it is just a waste of money

2.) 02 Sep 2015 23:41:34
Realistically, unless he becomes an absolute world beater Barca won't be interested in him. Even if he fulfils his potential is he ever going to get near Messi,Neymar or Suarez? I think he will be a great player for us, but not world class. The only player in my opinion with world class potential at this club is John Stones.

3.) 03 Sep 2015 22:35:18
Trying to be unbiased, but probably failing, I still have a lot of faith in lukaku and barkley. Think they both need to improve but also that they have the potential to be world class. If we manage to keep all 3 and they all develop, we will have an immensely strong core. Now I probably am being too hopeful though

Hello Ed, is Fazio likely? With his track record in the Epl he is a disaster, but he was clearly good for seville. Maybe the scouts have seen potential. Distan was poor in his first season for us but became fantastic.

Avro

{Ed025's Note - nothing is certain with fazio avro, i feel hes a back up plan if we dont get our main targets mate..

1.) 26 Aug 2015 23:02:21
Let's hope so!!

The Echo are reporting that Garbutt may be about to sign a new contract with us, and then go out on loan. Great business if so.

Avro

1.) 21 Jun 2015 16:54:53
Garbutt signing great news for us tied Baines replacement down to long term contract one of the best young left backs in the country he is going on loan to for season to Bournemouth so he get plenty of premier league experience

2.) 22 Jun 2015 15:28:57
Be fantastic if he signs

3.) 22 Jun 2015 22:01:59
He should be playing not going out on loan??

4.) 23 Jun 2015 19:23:05
Friends of mine in the pub with Osman last season. He told them that Gallway is thought a better player than Garbutt by most of the senior players. If that's the case the we should see Gallway on the bench to cover for Baines.

It's a shame that consideration couldn't be given to some standing areas, but I would imagine that this would come down to accountability and identification.

Avro

1.) 24 Mar 2017 12:08:36
If they would bring standing back their would be no need to leave Goodison since the capacity is a few short of 78,000 (14th February 1953) . I know since I was one of them. So you can decide your capacity by the percentage of those standing verses those seated. Let's assume that if every one was standing the capacity is 80,000 and if all seated 40,000 then if you eliminate a seat two could stand in there place. So if half stand and half are sitting then the capacity is 60,000. Spend some money on getting Goodison up to fire, health, etc. standards, throw out half the seats, bring back the footy buses and voila it's done.
Obviously will not happen for many obvious reasons but as an old timer I would love to see it happen.

2.) 24 Mar 2017 22:16:53
On of the issues with Goodison is the lack of corporate boxes which really bring in the money too.

23 Mar 2017 13:51:29
Really rate Surgudson, but would not want to see him arrive at the expense of losing Barkley. Barkley is starting to show some class, and like many top end players he is creating time on the ball and drawing in the opposition which is creating space elsewhere.
An attacking front three of Rom, Barkley and Rooney, would be fab; Bolaise on one side and another on the other? Would make me very happy and other defences less so.
Hopefully Rom can be persuaded?

Hull are wining which has dropped us down to 7th. Can't cope with this stress already!

Just sipping a little sharpener and standing looking at the Team, have a feeling we are going to get slaughtered. 3 DM's, no spearhead and where is the width coming from down both flanks.

2.) 13 Aug 2016 17:00:56
Worked out well for you that didn't it Bill?!?!

02 Mar 2016 17:25:44
This game is all about results. I thought that we were poor last night, we had no shape and looked vulnerable every time they came forward. Villa had more corners than they had in their last two games. We played far better when west brom beat us, but they just defended better. Results can give you a false impression of progress. Should be playing 442.

Avro

1.) 02 Mar 2016 17:42:35
While what you say is true Avro I couldn't help think of Martinez with your line 'results can give you a false impression of progress'

It's like something he would say after a game like the WB one where we dominated but lost.

Don't care how we win as long as we win. There will be strange things that will happen. This season has to be one of the strangest if not they strangest season I have ever seen.

The future looks bright for Everton imo. With or without Martinez. We have a very good squad. Investor after joining with the potential to sort out our ground situation.

Personally if there is any way of doing Goodison park up I'd prefer that. Its our home. Rich history that goes with it. Was state of the art in its day. Would be great to see it reinvent itself.

2.) 02 Mar 2016 20:25:04
Can't disagree with you on any of those points, I just wish we could keep an objective opinion and admit when we are lucky/ unlucky. Sometimes we give the gaffer a hard time when we couldn't do anymore and vice versa.

25 Jan 2016 16:28:30
Controversial but I think if we had played two up front yesterday we would have won convincingly. Some of our best games this season have been Kone and Rom upfront as two targets for the wings. Swansea man marked Rom and kept their shape. We should always play two upfront at home against weeker opposition.

Avro

1.) 25 Jan 2016 16:37:37
Secondly, don't always roll it out from the back! Mix it up, watch them out of shape and back peddling, let Rom run at the defence; he will get chances and he will be pulled back.

2.) 25 Jan 2016 17:32:14
It's not controversial mate it's common sense, just don't think Kone is the answer.

{Ed025's Note - it is if the question is...who is the worst striker in the prem.. :)

3.) 25 Jan 2016 19:20:35
For the love of God that's why we're in a mess.
He sold Naismith and signed Kone.
Hopefully Bill in better health will realise he was totally conned (as many of you were) Victor Prerori for me!
Remember guys?
30 months and what progress?

Last season we were crying out for a number 10 with an eye for a pass for Rom. A Mata, would have made Rom the golden boot, the amount of runs he made without any service. Utd have plaid him out of position last season but I has a big fan when he was at Chelsea, I think he provided the most assists unless I'm wrong? My only concern would be his wage demands.

Avro

{Ed025's Note - its ok avro, the club wont ask you to pay mate.. :)

Totally agree evertonbaldy, you are soon forgotten about on this website. Naismith is a great option for us and likewise Kone has his attributes in his hold up play which 'can' help lukaku shine. Neither player makes us Barcelona but both are options and team players, who will put a shift in for the club.

Can't be that good if it can't speak English. My niece is fluent and she is only 3 (although she always wants to play the lone striker and pack the midfield) .

There is a lot of understandable anger towards moyes, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep if he returned for the following reasons;
1) 'influenced' some great signings - Cahill, Martin, arteta, stones list goes on.
2) consistently top 6 Inc champ league on a limited budget.
3) prior to leaving we were playing some great football which wasn't always defensive.
I'm in the minority I know, and maybe it would show a lack of ambition but with a big budget we could unlock his potential? He would certainly be a safe option. I for one was gutted when he left, but initially made up with the performance of Martinez, but in hind sight that success was a lot to do with the moyes discipline - we could see similar next season with Leicester, and that is no disrespect to Leicester, but Pearson had put a lot of good things in place.

Disagree with that post, Bill always has the club's best intentions at heart. We are run on a much smaller scale to other clubs in the premier but we believe that we should be better. Look at players wages; if we started paying 200k a week for a winger we would go the same way as Leeds or Portsmouth. We are a well run club with gradual investment. We have had a bad season, but it doesn't mean that it is down to the loyal chairman.
