It's probably because "loads of sources" are NOT independently investigating and verifying the story. They're probably just lazily recycling a story that they've all picked up from the same original source. In fact, many websites, etc., make no bones about the fact that they're merely trawling the Internet for news items and reporting those rather than carrying out their own journalistic investigations and reporting original scoops. The rumour may well turn out to be true, but I'm waiting until an organisation (one that has a track record of accuracy) reports it as a fact and isn't just peddling what-ifs, maybes, and other wishful thinking.

Do people still listen to ssn? I gave up when they said Lukaku had joined West Brom on loan and was at their training ground, when in actual fact he was in a locked room with Kev with the Belgium squad. They said Yarmoimsickofthisfellasbloodynamelenko was having a medical with us, he was in Ukraine. And when they said we were getting Jack Butland, only for the Birmingham manager to ring up saying we hadn't even contacted them. They make stuff up for their betting services. They have no sources.
