I fell asleep watching that, nuff said.

{Ed025's Note - it was poor Mike, we cant make 2 passes to each other mate, got very lucky there, what the hell are they doing in training ffs..

1.) 30 Jan 2024 22:18:08
Luton’s run worries me more. I really think the FFP situ has given them hope and impotence.

I hope I’m wrong but it’s all going to come down to that Forest game in April.

Hold to to you hats.

2.) 30 Jan 2024 22:29:08
Thought we played better than at the weekend personally. Some committed defending and created enough chances to score. Keeping possession and finishing appears to be beyond us.

3.) 30 Jan 2024 22:32:56
I think I have finally lost my marbles - I no longer know what "by his side" means. Apparently Antonee Robinson's hand was "by his side" when he handled the ball on the goal line which just has me bamboozled.

4.) 30 Jan 2024 22:32:57
Impetus lol. I’m sure there’s numbers you can call if I’ve offended anyway.

5.) 30 Jan 2024 22:34:01
Ahhhh hope and impotence, that’s familiar.

6.) 30 Jan 2024 22:36:46
I actually think it was Lockyer’s collapse which gave them the impetus. Much like the deduction did to us. I was so confident 6 games ago, now I’m not so sure. Can’t pick up points without Doucoure it seems, we either need him back or need to bring in someone on loan to replace/ cover him.

7.) 30 Jan 2024 22:46:54
Par for the course Davey. My opinion would have been soft, I think, but bet if was at other end they’d have given it. My missus (actually a Fulham fan) has kept a spreadsheet since the Rodri handball at Man City…. and it’s frightening…the amount of incorrect decisions against our club. Vs everyone else.

She thinks conspiracy because it can’t be anything else. If there was a way of uploading the spready on here I would.

Onward and upwards spurs at home, got to be all 3 points now. Tough, but not beyond the realms.

8.) 30 Jan 2024 22:59:25
Whether it’s gross incompetence, unconscious bias or something more sinister, the result is the same and our long suffering fans have every reason to feel hard done by. That’s not to say that the clear lack of talent in our squad isn’t a factor.

9.) 31 Jan 2024 03:06:20
Ed02 says we're all ill informed or thick but you won't convince me that there isn't a bias against us this season.
So many obviously bad decisions have gone against us that it's almost expected now.

{Ed025's Note - im with you WT, when you are down there nothing seems to go for you mate, for me the referees are nothing short of incompetent and VAR are not fit for purpose, thats not whingeing is telling it like it is..

10.) 31 Jan 2024 08:20:33
I think it’s our strikers that have impotence.

11.) 31 Jan 2024 15:05:06
We can blame everything and everyone but the fact remains we were 4-5 points ahead after clearing the points deduction. Our present position is down to Dyche (his tactics/ selections and dithering substitutions) and players.

For those supporters who live over the pond, the Luton game is on ESPN+ at 9:50am EST on Saturday,
Mike.

1.) 26 Jan 2024 13:56:01
Cheers Mike, hope to try and make the game, be nice to focus on something other than FFP.

2.) 26 Jan 2024 14:46:36
Yes JB, I am just ignoring the commercial side of the club, can't do anything about it and it just increases my blood pressure. Let's hope that we can score a few goals against Luton.

3.) 26 Jan 2024 21:11:17
Going to sound unpopular but I’d put out the youngsters and save the first team for Fulham. We need as many points as we can in the league and our focus should be on that and not much else.

4.) 27 Jan 2024 00:06:27
Spot on BR.

5.) 27 Jan 2024 08:31:29
I fully understand the idea of preserving the first team for the league, but I’m a true fantasist when it comes to the FA cup. I’d love to see us lift this again as my fondest moments of supporting this beautiful club is our ever present say in who would lift it during the 80s. Then winning it again in 95.

If staying in the league is now our new ever present goal then sadly the whole thing is a bit pointless. So I’d like to see us go for it.

6.) 27 Jan 2024 11:01:01
Whilst I wouldn’t risk any with knocks, I think we put our strongest team out, get a result and build confidence. Also adds £ to the balance sheet.

7.) 27 Jan 2024 11:32:21
Agree JB. Need to build a winning mentality.

8.) 27 Jan 2024 15:08:01
Better to have minutes in legs, hardly been a busy period recently.

For those living in the USA, the Palace game is on ESPN+ at 3pm EST Thursday.

Ed025 wrote " i would love it if we has more of the ball mate but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear"
Ed just remind me how much these "sows ear's"are being paid? I would guess most are on at least 25k pounds per week and SD is on 5M pounds per year according to reports. I don't expect them to be Man. City but "sows ears" for what we paid for them and what they take home I expect a little more.

BlueMike

{Ed025's Note - i think you will find that its a lot more than that Mike, and in terms of quality im afraid we are far from silk purses mate, that will hopefully change in the next couple of windows barring sanctions and maybe the style of the play will improve..

1.) 08 Nov 2023 11:20:31
Actually Ed mate I believe that we have a pretty good squad who up to now are under-performing. Results over the last few games have shown an improvement. I just don't agree with the tactics employed especially when playing at Goodison. I live in hope that they will improve and this season we will not have to go through the last game agony of the last few seasons. As far as the next few windows I believe that we should be focusing on young talent for the future. No more over-the-hill and/ or aging duds who no other team wants and who are happy to take the millions from us as a retirement pay-off.

{Ed025's Note - our squad is pretty decent i would say Mike, but if we get either injuries or suspensions especially to key players we could be in trouble, in a perfect world focusing our transfers on young up and coming talent seems a good way to go mate, but us getting to Bramley Moore in tact is paramount for me so we will have to see how Thelwell sees things..

2.) 08 Nov 2023 20:00:50
You say getting to Bramley Moor is paramount Ed but once we are there, it will shift to ‘staying in the Prem at Bramley Moor is paramount…’

It feels like the move won’t save us from the state we are in sometimes! When do we run out of hope?

{Ed025's Note - im a glass half full person BR i cant help it, our time will come again mate and the new stadium will be the catalyst believe me..

3.) 08 Nov 2023 22:33:16
Am with you Ed. I am quietly confident we will get ourselves back in/ to regular top half finishes and progress as a club.

Just need clarity with the FFP malarky.

Someone's in for a tanking 1 game when it all just clicks. Love it to Utd at next home game ??.

{Ed025's Note - i hope your right Mocker mate..

4.) 09 Nov 2023 19:14:43
I think we are missing a midfielder who looks for the ball and can stamp his authority in middle of the pitch.

Sorry to hear about Bill passing, I wish he had retired years ago so he could have enjoyed a happy retirement. The stress of everything that has happened to our beloved team and to him personally must have exasperated his health issues. RIP
Now it is rumored that the Premier League has recommended a twelve point reduction if we are found guilty. If true, so much for appointing an independent panel. Let's hope that they make their own decision regardless of the outcome.
Again this year so far we fined ourselves flirting with the bottom three places in the league. I really believe that we have a squad that can move us to mid-table by the season end. Let's hope that the points won are sufficient to offset any points deduction that we may get and we can move into the new stadium as a Premier club.

Nothing wrong with the Yankees, the most successful baseball team, well run and make a lot of money. Can't see it happening unfortunately but if it did they would turn this club around to be well run, successful and most importantly much more pleasurable to watch.

You lot are just babies. I was 11 when we were relegate. Very dramatic for a young kid. At 84 I don't want to go through that experience again.

I agree with Ed002, Dobbin looked good the last time he played and scored which is rare for us. Give him a chance, he is your and faster than many we have.

It's a bit like one of our politicians over here Ed001. He has a house which would sell for about 25M dollars but is valued at 200M in his reported net worth. Everton are in a financial mess and Moshiri neither has the resources nor the inclination if he did to bail us out, he wants to sell and get as far away from the mess as he can.

BlueMike

{Ed001's Note - let's just hope that someone does bail Everton out soon.}

Thank's Ed001, appreciate the reply. I like many who were born and raised in Liverpool came from a mixed marriage. Nothing to do with religion but my Dad's family were Blue and my Mum's family were Red. In those days it led a lot of fun banter, sometimes these days people forget those from Liverpool are all Scouser's and should be proud of it and stick together. We have enough outsiders who are happy to put us down, without doing it to each other.
Mike.

BlueMike

{Ed001's Note - very welcome Mike. Everton has given employment as well as enjoyment to a number of my family members, so I hate to see it in this mess for their sake. The banter is not fun when someone's livelihood is at risk.}

Thanks Ed001. I have two question though.
1) Are the clubs audited or are the profit and loss etc. information given on a voluntary basis?
2) The Premier League is currently determining if the 777 operation is a suitable owner (not sure if that is the correct wording) . Was a similar process used when Moshiri purchased most of Kenwright's shares and if so, when it was obvious to all of us that it was a front, was it allowed to go ahead?

BlueMike

{Ed001's Note - 1. The clubs run their own audit and provide their accounting figures. But the Prem has the power to demand to look at the books.
2. The process has become more thorough since then. But you are still right to question why it was allowed to go ahead when the information was freely available. A number of investigative journalists actually put the info into the public domain but the Prem chose to ignore it.}

It's not entirely in our hands mate, depends on the next points deduction!

Yes DFS I have been lucky to have been to two cup finals, 1966 and 1995 and been at Goodison when we won the league and paraded the trophy around the ground. Obviously expectations have been reduced since those lofty days but I do hope that we can resurrect ourselves to being a well run club with good recruiting and one that plays attractive football. If that happens we will not have to worry about relegation every year nor having points deducted.
