Hi eds, hope you are all ok. Do you know if it is possible that Carlo could walk away, I know there is gossip in the papers but also hearing that the board will not sign Begovic as a GK and he is ready to walk because of this?

DGold1878

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for Begovic by Everton and discussions are going on between Bournemouth and another side about him. Ben Foster might prove a better option. You need to remember that Carlo Ancelotti only joined Everton because of the significant saray they offered him. He has now changed all of the support staff, so he has what he needs but he knows that Everton are an unattractive club as they cannot offer European football - and that is an issue which is difficult to overcome when recruiting players. The clubs has a decent number of players that were recruited because of two advisers "helping" Mr Moshiri and these need thinning out - which is very difficult in these times. The club also has FFP issues which need to be addressed. Brands is responsible for much of this and is overall in charge of recruitment. I cannot see CA walking away this summer.}

Thanks for the reply ed, really hope he stays for a few seasons, we need stability.

2.) 24 Aug 2020 16:48:31
I doubt Carlo will walk out on £11 Million a year wage, at the same time hamper his sons progress at Everton.

Hi ed002, just wondering if you have heard if the Zouma to Everton could potentially be revisited in the summer? I understand from below that Everton made errors in their pursuit previously, has this left the deal dead or is it potentially still an option for the player and clubs?

DGold1878

{Ed002's Note - Kurt Zouma - Everton need to talk directly to Chelsea to see what their options are on Zouma - and not through a third party which they tried previously. It looks unlikely anything like that will happen right now - but the option is there.}

1.) 16 Jan 2020 20:51:25
Thanks for the response ed. I think he should be a target as the defence was better with him in it and he is better than most of the CBs we have been linked with.

2.) 17 Jan 2020 00:11:08
Ed002 as you rate unlikely. Other names are more realistic choices? Thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I have mentioned hat I know.}

Hi eds, hope you are all ok. I've seen rumours from France stating we have opened talks with Lyon about Bertrand Traore, I think he would be a good replacement for Lookman, do you have any info on this? Thanks in advance.

DGold1878

{Ed002's Note - Lyon have said they have had a number of approaches and have reminded one club that another side still has an option on the player. They are likely to be reluctant sellers as Maxwel Cornet is available.}

1.) 01 Jun 2019 11:32:35
Cheers mate thank you. congratulations about Wednesday as well!

2.) 01 Jun 2019 14:50:49
Not convinced he is the striker we need. But. Who am I?

3.) 01 Jun 2019 21:41:48
I agree he’s not the striker but I think if and it’s a big IF we are in for him it’s the right wing position he would be considered for not the striker role although he could rotate there I guess
Similarly to what you said, what do I know 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I think most people, like myself, would've liked to have seen a couple more in (rb and lb cover) but I think the signings of Gray, Townsend, Rondon, Begovic and Lonergan addressed some glaring issues we had in the squad. We have also done well to get some players who, for whatever reason, were not working for us. When you factor in Sigurdsson, James Rodriguez, Delph and Tosun all out of contract next summer, we have done a good job of clearing the decks for the next rebuild. If we can get some full back cover in January window, and keep the squad and the boss, I think we can have a solid season and then try to kick on next season when we have more of a chance to. Also gives some players a full season to impress the gaffer. COYB.

Delph on for the second half, of course that is going to turn it round, he is just what was missing in that first 45.

Just when you think things can't get any worse, one of the best managers ever walks out on us. The whole club just drags everything down, how can we be so incompetent? Will give the next manager my full backing, but we will probably be looking for a new one again in November. Hope we get a good manager in.

Our club is rotten to the core, the squad have no passion, the coaching team have no tactical knowledge and no ability to motivate players amd the recruitment is just disgusting. Not one of the players play like they want to be here, we have no quality in the squad. Its a telling sign that Moise Kean looked terrible for us, but is now motivated and getting real coaching, he is now playing well. Its not possible for us to do, but only solution would be to tear up everyones contract and start again. I fear we will be in League 1 before we can get these players off the books. Terrible management at board/ director level and also management of the players means we are just going to slide to the bottom of the table, even Fulham showed fight last night, something not one of our players have an ounce of. Disgrace is the only word I can find for this squad, coaching staff and executive team.

DGold1878

{Ed025's Note - wow just wow, talk about over the top gold!, i believe we are getting there slowly but shortly and yes we have faults but come on, 3 weeks ago we were unbeaten and top of the league, we have some very good players and a world class manager so im really looking forward to the future, yes we have some dross but that is being addressed and rome was not built in a day mate, get a grip fella..

1.) 08 Nov 2020 11:55:57
Is this the same Dgold who was getting excited at the players we were linked with and then brought in as well as the same Dgold who in August this year said we need stability?
As Ed says get a grip fella.

2.) 08 Nov 2020 12:05:43
You been drinking DG! Ancillaries one of the best most respected Coach/ Managers in the World. We lost yesterday because no Richie to take pressure off our right - Rodriguez is an effective player but brings a weakness when played out wide Utd knew this and WBA knew this so target him. If possible (January notoriously difficult) Carlo/ Brands will address the RWB issue and suspect bring in another RB. For me meanwhile I would bring Mina back in at CB, push Holgate in front of back 4. Alan and Decoure in front of him, Richie, DCL, Rodriguez.

3.) 08 Nov 2020 12:48:45
DGold angry is OK, me too lot of the time, however there is so much there in your OP that just doesn't add up

look at Carlo's record you just cannot dismiss that after a few poor games, Kean is playing for PSG up against what is equal to our second tier at best PL relegation battlers.

EFC has had terrible recruitment over the years imho that is where the remedy lies, the nucleus of a very strong squad is in it's infancy, and what you are asking for is actually happening now .

4.) 08 Nov 2020 12:58:15
Even the Red Army wouldn't go that far.

5.) 08 Nov 2020 13:31:21
I agree with some of gold's comments and also agree with all the replies but please let's not use rickys absence as an excuse for the past three defeats if we are going to get beat every time he doesn't play then our squad is worse than I thought.

6.) 08 Nov 2020 13:35:36
To be honest, I don't see any players worth keeping the squad, with the exception of Richarlison. I don't like to individually name players who are playing poorly as there can be many causes for this, but a lot of these players have the wrong attitude and/ or just not good enough. I was excited in August, but I think it was more hope that we can finally turn around, but seems misplaced at the moment. Carlo has had success in the past, but has just been shown up by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, a poor manager who only had 36 hours to get his players ready for the game. I have been disappointed with the blues for years, but this season is shaping up to be the most diappointing we have had. Believe it or not, I really hope i'm wrong, would love nothing more than to see them turn this around.

7.) 08 Nov 2020 14:07:51
Honest mate I do think your'e wrong, (what you say about Solksjaer is spot on though I agree) , maybe it's the sudden changes that have got to you i. e, this bi-polar swing in our fortunes, however we don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater do we.

Whatever we have now and whatever we have to get shut of should be differentiated with a calm mind .

8.) 08 Nov 2020 14:18:28
Well over the top. Last window was a good window but there are still many cracks within the squad. Coleman has been in better form recently but right back is a problem area along with goalkeeper and right wing (we lack width in general) remember we have had years of instability and poor decisions, like other posters have said it will take time. I don't expect us to look a real quality team for another 2 or 3 seasons.

9.) 08 Nov 2020 15:10:01
Lots of rubbish spouted on here again 4 weeks ago everyone was over the moon now 3 losses in row and we are back to last seasons negativity, one window was not going to solve our problems, I’m as angry as anyone else not through the defeats but the fact we have not played with the same intensity and pressing as the first round of matches consistency is what separates the best from the rest, every team in this league is capable of beating each other as we all know, but constancy takes time and winning football matches when not playing well takes time everyone keeps going on about GK but central defence is still massive issue as 2 goals proved yesterday.

10.) 08 Nov 2020 15:59:24
Spot on mate.

02 Sep 2020 18:25:17
Hi eds hope you are all ok and fellow blues. Exciting times if the rumours are to be true, just a question for the eds, is it safe to assume we have got clubs to move some of our out of favour players on with the fact we are spending some cash again? I know its been covered we have to sell to buy but I was expecting more to leave before we started bringing players in? 3 great signings if we can pull them off though, i'm sure most would agree.

DGold1878

{Ed002's Note - Everton need to sell and to reduce the wage bill. That will become the next priority.}

1.) 02 Sep 2020 21:15:32
There’s still a fair bit of time of this window left. I reckon it’s a gamble, yes, but getting the players in early is important and then hopefully shift some big earners off the payroll before the window’s out.

Absolute disgrace, the executives at the club need sacking for some of these players we have signed in the past few years, this squad is the worst I can remember, even in the 90s we at least had players who would fight for the shirt. This is going to be an awful season judging by today. Pathetic performance from all 11 players on the pitch in the first 45.

Stepping stone or not, he was our player and has not performed well or shown any sort of ability when playing for Everton. Even if it was a stepping stone, he performed really poorly and its only right that we are glad to see the back of him.

Yeah ed you are right there, they can both make a team solid, I was thinking more Rafa tends to go with a back 4, where as Nuno at Wolves went with a back 3 with wing backs. to be honest, we don't have the personnel to play either way so I suppose its irrelelvant at the minute!

DGold1878

{Ed077's Note - but their teams generally play a similarly strong defensive footy though was my point

I have to disagree with that mate, for too long we have played negative football, to the point where if we concede the first goal at home to Sheff United in the first 5 mins of the game, its already game over. In the same way, if we are 1-0 up with 25 mins left, we just start panicking and bringing more defenders on, something both Nuno and Rafa do when leading by 1 goal. No way would I have wanted Nuno even 18 months ago, Wolves success was more dowm to good player recruitment in my opinion.

I agree Ed, I actually think he could be the right manager, he is totally blame free for yesterday. The players have got to start taking some responsibility for the lack of quality in their performances, to many hide and allow managers to take the blame, a lot of these players underperformed for Koeman, Sam, Silva amd Carlo, and very little looks to have changed.

DGold1878

{Ed025's Note - yeah DGold they need to step up or ship out mate, i hope rafa gets a grip of the shirkers and do what he does best..

Coward was the wrong word, that was not relevant and wrong, but the incompetence with recruitment surely means we coud do with a fresh approach with new ideas? That is not a dig at our current players, but all are very similar and for at least 5 years we have been desperate for pace and very little has been done to address that (i accept that Gray could be a start at trying to do this) . Ultimately, for me, Brands is responsible for this.

It is laughable mate, how can the people in charge think that we are a professional set up when stupid mistakes or poor preparation like that costs us in every single game at some point.

He is a disgrace, we pay his wages bit he would rather play for Southgate because the England fans 'understand' him. What I don't understand is why he is our number one, Begovic is well better than this joke.
