I'm now sure i'm in the minority in wanting Martinez to stay. Even after getting to another cup semi people complain about him. Have some patience will you! Stones is young and makes mistakes, would I want him sold? No
Barkley is young and has bad games, do you want him gone? No
Even Lukaku who's now everyone's hero was having a few bad moments earlier in the season. All young, all should be allowed to grow and learn.
Why then do we expect a young manager to not make mistakes, have bad games or get decisions wrong!
I mess up at work sometimes and don't expect the sack. We could win the cup which for me would be a great season. I'd take silverware over finishing 4th everyday. The league form will take care of itself once confidence is up and the whole team believes again. Just give it time, we've waited this long after all!

Good post indio77, problem are club has is that the fans are turning into the same as newcastle and liverpool were they want instant success. Kendall altered a lot in his first few years and has to learn under constant fan pressure. in the end the new investor will decide if he trust martinez with his cash. Kenwrights delivered the investment let's allow martinez a chance to deliver the silver. The support yesterday when we got right behind the team from the start made a huge difference.

He is making simple mistakes that's cost us 25 points.

3.) 13 Mar 2016 20:43:38
He doesn't kick the ball! How do you know he's directly responsible for 25 points? Can you see the future? It's all what ifs!

4.) 13 Mar 2016 21:00:50
Fair point but we are not fighting the relegation battle everyone feared in september.

Young Manager making mistakes! The blokes CV in the Prem prior to arriving at this great Club was a constant fight with relegation. Am I pleased we are on a Cup run, damn right I am, am I pleased we play good football and defend well in the Cup, damn right. Where is our bread and butter! The Prem and can anyone seriously tell me that in that we have progressed.

{Ed025's Note - no we have not DM..

To be fair he's had two years to learn and still hasn't. We're also not an up coming club. We're an established football club that when he took over were one step from being a CL team. Since then we are 12th now from 12th last season.

If he is learning he should be learning somewhere else. He can come back when he's the finished article.

With all due respect Indio, none of our jobs can be compared to that of a manager of a premier league club. It's good we are in our second semi-final of the season, and RM has to take some of the plaudits for that, but these games detract from the mess we find ourselves in when we look at the league table. We should not be in the bottom half of the league two seasons running, not with the squad we have. So, if he can take the credit for getting into another semi-final, although that doesn't guarantee we will win in, then he should also take the heat for our poor league form.
Alwaysblue, I'm by no means trotting the path of a red or bar code supporer, you can't have a go at others for having a different view to yourself. Answer this mate, would you be happy to win the cup this season and, under RM in the coming season or so, finish mid-table? Our league campaign is, as ed says, our bread and butter, we should be finishing consistently higher than last season. I'm no fan of RM but the stats don't lie.

His CV before joining us was constant relegation fights, but also a fa cup win.I'd say he is improving as a manager then.one cup semi final gone and one to come, and to be fair, there's not a lot separating us from the top 6 or 7 places.he doesn't want to be sacked, and I noticed on Saturday that he learned to defend a lead.maybe the penny has dropped and he is listening.all I know is that when we get behind the team,we are on fire.best away support and we get results.moans and groans at goodison, and players seem to hide away.let's just get behind em,home and away and we will do alright.

9.) 14 Mar 2016 11:18:22
There shouldn't be anything separating us from the top 6. But there is plenty - 9 points to be exact. That's why we're in 12th. every team outside the relegation zone let's in fewer goals than we do, they don't drop anywhere near as many points from winning positions as we do and they don't repeatedly do stupid stuff like taking men on in their own half when defending a lead in the last minute. In other words, they play to win, even if some teams are not good enough to do it. And as good as we can be going forward, so can Leicester, Spurs, City and Arsenal.

10.) 14 Mar 2016 11:22:16
Also, I don't care what business your in, if you're getting paid as much as Bobby, and you keep repeatedly making the same mistakes that cost your company and openly refuse to change, then you should expect the sack.

Thanks for the helpful advise Dagenham gunner! Do you want to adopt him? He's fully house trained.

Indio77

{Ed001's Note - a house trained Arsenal fan? I don't believe that!}

While we're mentioning arsenal just a quick query to see if anyone else has the same or similar problem to me. My son in his wisdom has decided to support the gunners much to my disgust. I brought him up well (or so I thought) with tales of our past glory and now I have to make polite conversation about another team through gritted teeth. I pray my 3 daughters don't let their dad down like this. Will he grow out of this before his whole room is the dreaded red or do I have to live with it?

Been a fan for over 30 years and a regular reader on here for a while but this is my first post. It frustrates me like mad the over the top reactions to small setbacks people have! We drew, away from home in the premiership and we sit seventh in the table. For my 30 years that's no reason to cry! A few years ago I'd be chuffed with that. We have a young team with tons of potential who won't win every game. We'll win again I'm sure and we'll lose some we should win but I can live with that as long as they learn and grow from it. Better a young team growing than the rubbish of the 90's and 00's when I had no hope. Rant over now. Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - good post that indio, you need to post more often mate..
