Eds, assuming Gordon isn’t sold would Everton still be able to sign Brereton Diaz, Maupay and Garner? What is realistic?

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed025's Note - if AG stays it will only be one coming in mate..

1.) 26 Aug 2022 04:57:32
Lampard must really believe in Warrington and Mills then… any chance of Gana still?

{Ed025's Note - better than 50/50 I would say Kenyan mate..

Any truth in the Bamba Dieng rumours Ed?

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed002's Note - Bamba Dieng (S) Availability of the player was asked about by Newcastle during discussions over another player. He only joined last summer and is not for sale unless a very good offer is made. Crystal Palace and Fulham are now talking to Marseille about him. Celtic have made an enquiry. West Ham may have caught him with the scattergun. Agent is running around offering him to all clubs.

Many thanks!

Morning Ed02, is the potential deal for Michy Batshuayi now off?

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

1.) 02 Aug 2022 12:09:22
ED02 I'm guessing any moves for Gilmour and Batshuyai will be after the Chelsea game as we have to buy one and they won't want him playing against them.

{Ed002's Note - It is of no consequence.}

Eds, just listened to today’s Ancelotti press conference but none of the journalists asked the question I wanted asking. Moise Kean has played in two games and scored two goals so far this season and yet there’s not been a hint of a smile. Would Ancelotti consider or sanction his departure? I get the impression the manager wants him but the player may want to leave. Also if Ancelotti doesn’t sanction a departure for Kean would a good season for the club in the premier league make it more likely for the player to have a change of heart and want to stay? What are your thoughts?

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed002's Note - the have been significant efforts are to sell him but the issue has been finding a club who have the cash and don’t want to take him on loan or include a player in the deal.~

Ed’s, Marcel Brands’ contract expires at the end of this coming season. Do you expect the club will want to renew his contract and do you think he will stay? I’d be disappointed if he left. I think over a long period he will do wonders for the club.

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed025's Note - i expect him to stay kenyan mate..

1.) 12 Sep 2020 11:29:00
Guess it may depend On James and Allen staying injury free till Xmas, if it goes belly up (it wont) then we will not want him. Fickle us Blues at times.

2.) 12 Sep 2020 14:56:15
I for one hope he stands his ground and makes it clear what he wants to achieve. If the project is a very different job to the one he was promised (as it seems very clear it is) he surely must back himself and make us want him for what he does best, signing young talent. It seems the only business some fans have moaned at him for, is the transfers he certainly didn't want to make. He was famous for his own system and that's surely what we convinced him he'd do here in the 1st place? It must get up his nose that the only dissent he gets is from the less aware, killing him for Walsh signings and general ignorance to the guy.
If we don't want to use him at his best, it'd make sense to find someone else. Though I think he is integral to our future success.

3.) 12 Sep 2020 14:20:33
Thanks Ed25. This is true Cookie, but I do think that he has an excellent reputation and this was earned for good reason. He needs to be able to his job without interference and if that happens I can see him and Ancelotti delivering an impressive football team 🙏🏻.

4.) 13 Sep 2020 13:40:10
Hasnt he been made a board member shortly after signing? if he's a share holder i can't see him going any time soon.

5.) 14 Sep 2020 18:33:46
Well Moshri wasted two years of Brands contract, so I wouldn't bet on it. Mind you carry on like he has when allowed to do his job and if he does stay, he would deserve a hike in pay.

It must be that Frank sees Anthony Gordon as Richarlison's replacement. Risky? Maybe but 2 goals from 2 games so only 8 more to match Richarlison's output last season. Very possible he could achieve this.

It would have been nice to add another forward but I still think that DCL is one of the best strikers in the league when fit and the new recruits in midfield will see us control the ball better and hopefully create more chances for him.

Frank and Thelwell have added a lot of steel to the centre of defence, full backs are good - Patterson looks a great prospect. Idrissa as the no. 6 will make a huge difference and Onana, Iwobi, Doucoure, Garner for the other two spots means more athleticism and ability in midfield.

Gordon, Gray, McNeil (will get better) , Townsend. strength in depth could be better but if Gordon and Gray stay fit should be ok.

DCL upfront with Maupay off the bench or together in a differnet system. Could be worse.

This squad is a huge improvement on what Frank walked into 8 months ago. The spirit is better, the ability is better and athleticism is better.

We will finish in the bottom half still because I don't think there's enough firepower to achieve more over a full season taking into account likely injuries etc. However after another two transfer windows I hope we will be able to compete for Europe again.

When every club in the Premier League has the ability to spend money on players it must be incredibly difficult to compete in the transfer market especially when we don't have European competition to offer and having finished 16th last season.

We're making progress and that is all we can hope for currently.

Bring on the Reds tomorrow!

1.) 02 Sep 2022 07:19:37
Kenyan_Toffee the word on DCL there was If! Ricky went (they knew he was going) they know DCL is a sick note but gambled and lost. I would argue with a Striker we would be 5 points better off at this point. As it is we are playing catch up, when we really shouldn't be. As for Liverpool tomorrow, we go up against them with injuries and probably without Gueye and Garner, Maupay hasn't played but has had another 7 days.

2.) 02 Sep 2022 08:32:03
What can I say?! I’m a glass half full kind of a guy!

I can see your point and yes if DCL had been fit we’d have more points… but it’s not easy to just go and buy and forward in today’s market. Diaz is unproven in the Prem. Probably should have kept Simms until transfer deadline day.

Still, it’s been largely positive if not perfect and I’m happy to let them wait for the next window or next summer to recruit the right player.

I could be wrong but it doesn’t feel like we’ll ship many soft goals this season and that will go a long way to where we end up in the league.

UTT.

2 points from 2 difficult away games with no forwards….

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

1.) 30 Aug 2022 22:18:29
Or 5 games 3 points. A striker would have made no difference tonight. We could have/ should have won that tonight. The tactical genius and his assistants didn't use any subs though, beggars belief. Fresh legs would have helped.

25 Feb 2022 17:40:06
Kevin Thelwell? Eds… someone. enlighten me. Is it a good appointment?

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed025's Note - i dont know much about him to be honest kenyan, but apparently he is well thought of and his forte is bringing youngsters through mate..

1.) 25 Feb 2022 23:43:39
Seems like a genuine attempt to take the club in a new direction, with Lampard and Thelwell. I think it’s great, about time we started focusing on youth and young hungry players.

2.) 26 Feb 2022 06:20:11
Thanks gents, fingers crossed.

23 Dec 2021 08:20:50
Q. for Ed025. What were your thoughts on Nathan Broadhead when he played against Arsenal the other night? He went of injured but I thought his goal was excellent. Is there any chance of him being kept by the club in the summer or you still think he’s likely to leave?

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed025's Note - he is doing very well at sunderland kenyan and i believe thats 6 goals in his last six games, i dont know how the club perceive him mate but if he keeps doing the business then they cant ignore him i suspect..

1.) 23 Dec 2021 15:26:31
Yes I write about him a few days ago. The problem he has is that he is 23 and we have Simms and Dobbin who are younger and above him in the pecking order. Certainly better than Rondon. Did look good and took his goal very well. He just signed a two year contract so you never know but Sunderland want him and if we can get a decent amount for him probably best for both parties.

2.) 23 Dec 2021 16:36:28
Not sure why you think either are above him. Surely the idea of loaning a player out is to help his development, and at 23 he is 6 years younger than Rondon. So he has plenty of time really.

3.) 23 Dec 2021 20:20:39
Hes nearly 10 yrs younger than wrongun.

4.) 23 Dec 2021 21:11:34
League 1 is totally different level to the prem tho boys. He scored against gunners 2nd string. If he comes back k and gets game time for us then we'll be able to judge appropriately.

Question for the Eds. It’s been suggested in the press this season that Guardiola believes Potter to be one of the best tacticians in England. I like the look of him, would he be a realistic option? Or Nuno is thought of in higher regard? Who do you think are the best realistic options out there? I’m only interested in ability to manage and train our club properly. Benitez would be my first choice. I really couldn’t care less about the years at Liverpool.

Kenyan_Toffee

{Ed025's Note - i like potter i must say KT..

1.) 01 Jun 2021 22:55:27
Platform 13 1/ 2 being readied as we speak.

{Ed025's Note - we do need a bit of magic BCT..

2.) 01 Jun 2021 21:35:18
Reds fan here in peace.

I’m a self confessed student of the game and I did some work at Middlesbrough’s academy a few years back and the Head of Academy at the time told me to look out for Potter at Ostersunds. Spoke very highly of him and encouraged me to study how his team plays and confidently stated he’d be in a top job in a few years. Ostersunds were in Div 2 in Sweden at the time of me first paying attention to Potter, having already gained promotion under him the season before. They went on to gain another to the top flight and then get in to Europe, achieving some remarkable results along the way.

Forget the league table, you only have to watch Brighton now compared to under Houghton to understand how good a coach he is, vastly improving some of the players that he inherited.

I’m sure Ed001 is a fan as well and quite frankly as a red, I hope Potter stays at Brighton!

{Ed001's Note - it's funny, and why this was held for me, as last night I was discussing with 666 who we thought should get the Everton job and I thought Potter too. If he had DCL at Brighton, they would have finished in the top half easily. He is much better than BHA's league position suggests and I believe he would take Everton on through good coaching. Plus the football is great to watch as well, which is very Everton, as I still think of Everton as the School of Science, even though it was before my time. But to me the 80s are what I think of when I think of the Toffees, that great Kendall side and good, attractive, attacking football. Potter would bring that back, where Ancelotti was boring and negative far too often.}

3.) 02 Jun 2021 07:21:23
If there is one manager in the league that would come to Everton based on his personal ambition and who has the ability to build something with Brands it would be Potter. Sadly I still think Brands is operating with clipped wings. Which is why I think Benitez has a better chance but that would be no disaster, he’s also good. Nuno I’m not sure about. He did a great job at Wolves initially but last season, whilst a weird season, they looked really flat and he looked like a man who no longer had the spark to drive them on.

4.) 02 Jun 2021 07:09:14
Game of opinions but I find this hysterical. The Potter hype train, the bloke must have a quality PR team as since his good work in Sweden the blokes done nothing in England. Brighton are playing better football than when Houghton was in charge, well that’s great but the points total’s identical. I could name 10 teams that have been relegated that have played pretty football. The season after Swansea were relegated from the premiership GP finished 11-12 which was deemed a good season and he got the Brighton job. Since he’s left Swansea have made the playoffs 2 years running and Brighton are in the same position as Houghton left them in a few year ago, he’s also had more money to spend, the standout being the 30m he spent on bringing Maupay from Brentford. I don’t believe this was a good signing (‘but they’re playing better football’) . Great that Brighton are playing better football but people mustn’t forget it was Houghton that got them there in the first place and to date GP (apart from them playing better football) I wouldn’t say has improved them much at all. In my opinion he’s out of his depth now, if he moved to Everton I would be bitterly disappointed. I’d say there’s 15 managers ahead of him anyway or I really hope there is.

{Ed025's Note - i happen to rate him peter, young and hungry and knows the league well, im sure some wont agree but i think there are worse options out there mate..

Everyone must acknowledge that we have sacked too many managers too early since Moyes left. This is one of the main contributing facts as to why Everton are in this mess under Moshiri. Even David Moyes would have been sacked after his second season in charge if he had been appointed by Moshiri. That is a fact. So Frank and his team must be given time. Our window has been decent when you consider where we finished in the league last season. Really important to be positive and back the manager. With a few more players in, with the defence playing more games together, with Onana getting used to the league and DCL coming back things will get better. No question. I even fancy Frank to improve Davies this season as he has with Iwobi. There’s a lot to like when you start looking in detail at what small improvements have been made to the squad and the team in general.

Couldn’t agree more Lamps. the moaning on here about players before they have kicked a ball for us or about players who have not even played 10 games of the season yet…. Unbelievable.

Maupay scores 10 goals a season which is not bad in the Premier League. Only two players scored 20 goals or more last season. Plus he’s a different type of player to DCL giving us options.

Lampard and Thelwell have a plan and personally, I like what I’m seeing. Not scoring enough, yes sure but that will change. The spine is much better. They’ve had half a season and one pre season and we are improving slowly. Plus all of this whilst managing our FFP issues.

Before Lampard came in we all agreed the next manager needed 3 years to sort out the mess… yet I see so many commenting that he’s no good and needs to go. Give me strength Blues… stop embracing negativity, it’s so easy to moan. harder to to be positive but important to be.

Yeah giving the ball away too much and having only 30% possession doesn’t read well. However as I said that’s 2 points from 2 tricky away games and it’s also worth mentioning that it’s the first time we played 4 at the back since we were drubbed in a pre season friendly and we still don’t have a striker. Add Gana to that midfield, get a no. 10 and play a striker we will start winning games. Great to see a spine though, no longer looking like pushovers.

Skylark I’m so tired of your messages, maybe think about supporting another team or keep your negative opinions to yourself. Negativity is awful, the modern world’s disease.

Until this transfer window is over - I will not judge. Until this season is over - I will not judge. You know full well that the sackings of managers and the lack of structure or chain of command within the boardroom has been Everton’s main challenge in the Moshiri years.

It is why we are in this current position. I’m sick of the negativity on this forum. I’m sick of the negativity of this country. Probably why I live in Kenya. Support the club, support the manager. The club will rise again.

Do you honestly think Frank and Kevin arrive for work and have no idea what the club needs? Of course they do. They are intelligent people. No doubt there are restrictions on what is possible at the moment due to FFP.

They need time, they need support and they don’t need fans like you. UTT.
