Good Afternoon all fellow Blues and all Ed's.

As you all know, I live in the Midlands, a place called Redditch and don't get to hear news first hand, only rumours unfortunately.
Anyway. Just heard from a rumour mill that a new contract for Luke Garbutt has been withdrawn and he is now free to leave the club as he was hesitating on the fine print. Also, McCarthy has refused to sign and he too will be off. Please Ed's, tell me this is not true on both counts as the latter will imo be the nest best thing to fly down the left wing in Europe. He can put a ball on a sixpence from 50 yards. Why let him go and McCarthy, well, what can I say. What a talent. Please Bill, if true, give them both what they want for all our sakes let alone our sanity!
Question for the Ed's:- With all the talent in the youth teams both u21's and u18's, will they be give a chance next season as they deserve. After some pretty decent performances for some in their loan periods, don't you think they deserve the chance? I have looked at the EFC website today and seen who has gone and who's staying youth wise so, any chance?
Oh, almost forgot. Is Mr. Mirallas be with us next season or off to a bigger pay day, sorry, Champions League!?
Thanks all.

{Ed025's Note - luke has been offered a contract marc but has yet to sign it, jimmy mac is going nowhere at this point, and kev is not good enough for a CL side imo..

Morning all Everton fans and all you Ed's.

Rumours going around the press down here in the Midlands today are, that yes Roberto is looking at Welbeck and also Eto, but the surprise one for me is Solomon Kalou from Chelsea.

All, would be in my opinion, good additions to the squad to do a job for this European campaign season but as for long term, Welbeck only. Young, hungry for goal and wants to cement his England place. As for the other 2, yes, for the Europa league, great additions with excellent experience to take us through to the final and may be help us to get that coveted fourth place and that is it. Not long term. Just my opinion. What are your thoughts all and you Ed's?

Regards.

{Ed025's Note - we will be looking to strengthen marc, and them three have been mentioned mate, but so have a lot of others..

1.) Kalou plays for Lille m8

Can any of you Ed's out there confirm or deny the rumour going round on some sites stating we are in advanced talks with Nathan Redmond and his representatives regarding a permanent move to the home of football. I believe he had the chance of coming to Goodison Park a couple of seasons ago but preferred a non ambitious move to Norfolk. Surely it wasn't for the money! (Cynical) Anyway. Is he on our radar. He would be a great acquisition in my opinion due to his pace and eye for goal. Fit in well, especially if Mirallas is off too. Please shed some light if you can guys.
Thank you.

{Ed025's Note - nothing on him at the moment marky, thank god..

1.) 21 Jul 2014 08:03:07
We didn't want him, he publicy, along with leroy fer, said he wanted to join everton, we were never interested in either, so they went to norwich, the end

{Ed025's Note - i think we dodged 2 bullets myself swan..

2.) Swan's right. He publicly stated he was waiting for us to come in for him, but we didn't want to. I think we missed out. He wouldn't break the first team, but he was better than Deulofeu.

3.) Thought he looked good at the end of last year and under the guidance of Martinez, he could be the perfect replacement for deulefeu for the right price.

4.) Ed got to disagree mate, Redmond is a very good player and RM would get the best out of him.

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions paul, for me he is too hit and miss mate..

5.) Better than Gerry? You mush be having a tin bath.

Morning all fellow Blue Noses and Ed's.

I've been reading the comments on this site for a while now regarding our plight and Roberto Martinez and feel I must air my own views.

Everton are a massive club with history and in my opinion are in a false position within the Premier League. We have some very big names playing for us on some very big wages so, being asked to adopt a new style of football should not be a problem to a professional footballer. I'm sure all of you out there have worked for several bosses who's way of getting the job done are different but the end result is the same. English football is and always has been Predominantly rough contact pass and move forward, anticipating the long ball (route one.) Suddenly we're asked to play Catalan style which in itself is the same but with more flair, skill and ball control with confidence which the English have always lacked. Skill and confidence. Last season it worked as it was something new, this year it's old hat as we do not have the confidence to multi-task. Defend, possess and attack.
Roberto Martinez's problem, again in my opinion is, this is his tried and tested style which will and does work (Swansea) but needs adaptation to change. (Wigan) Remember British Leyland (later Rover.) They had the foresight to change the name to create a feel of modernisation but never changed the basics of to compete with quality Japanese and European markets. In other words, arrogance. The British Car Market had a captive audience and had no plan "B" when things got competitive. Other Car manufacturers could see the openings in Britain and took the Country's car makers by surprise. Unfortunately the workers and the rest of the British people could also see this coming but as usual, the Managers and Board were not listening. Roberto has the same sort of arrogance, he seems to be not listening to 40,000 Scousers week in and week out along with all other Evertonians and non Evertonians for that matter that this style of Football does work but is easily supressed and needs to be adaptive and changeable with a more pro-active, positive approach.
I do somewhat agree with some postings on here that, we only need to gain 15 points to survive the season but that seems to be falling in to same trap as Roberto's. Negativity.
Everton fans need to be positive, I realise this season so far is not very inspiring but with the last 2 games things seem to have changed a little. Maybe Roberto has been listening (although slightly) as the system has been different and a little more positive. Confidence and positivity will not come back overnight as this takes time but this looks like a start.
To take things forward to the next stage, (hope Roberto is reading this or at least listening) he needs to adapt the team/squad. Aiden McGeady, Gareth Barry, Silvan Distin, Darron Gibson must be taken out of the scenario and the likes of Luke Garbutt and other up-and-coming starlets should be introduced to create the flair and imagination he's looking for. The Board also need to do their bit by tying down the likes of Mirallas and Co to long term contracts. This club needs to be taken forward and needs everybody concerned to do their part to create this feeling of positivity we are all so craving for. It's there, it never went away, it was left to it's own devices with no imagination. Without good strong leadership the club will go nowhere and stay stagnant.
Everton will not be relegated this season. Fact. Everton will be relegated next season, fact if nothing is done, and soon. Guidance, the ability to adapt and positivity in boat loads is what we need and the Chairman to give the Manager the funds to create this positivity.
Just my opinion. Your thoughts!?

{Ed025's Note - really good read that mark, and i find it hard to argue with any of it mate...well done..

I agree with a lot of your post, and believe Everton is a massive club, in terms of history, fan base and its standing in the top level of English football, however without a massive investment this club will remain tantalisingly close but will never really threaten the top clubs! we have over the last few years achieved miracles with so little financial clout, even the likes of arse and spuds with more money struggle to break the top three.
Fact is that you can overachieve for so long but this season what has become apparent is at time a real lack of quality from a large number of players when the manager has asked for it. However it is also his job to coach and manage them, and to bring out the best in them, then if they are still not good enough then to replace them, which is becoming all to obvious now.

2.) My take is, stating Fact every other sentence does not make it so without evidence to back it up. Fact - Yes we can be relegated this season - evidence - league position, accumulated points, Roberto's comments on defense not important as long as the Team enjoys it's football (this is not Sunday morning league Roberto, with a visit to the pub to look forward to).

3.) Totally agree DM, facts will only be facts when the season ends.

Also it does not matter how positive we think it will not change anything, only dealing with the problems head on can change them, blind positive spin is what has got us into this mess in the first place.

Think I'll wait for the film to come out!

Hello all Ed's.
I like all true Everton fans watched with horror as we dominated Arsenal yet again and were pushing for a glorious win when we self destructed in defence. What happened?
It seems to me like there is little or no cohesion and no communication whatsoever!
Up front there were very positive signs that we can mix it with the big boys but again, the end product seems sometimes to be missing. OK, Lukaku is not 100% and he can be forgiven for that but we shouldn't be asking for everything from 1 striker. Surely there is some cash in the pot to do a deal and bring in another quality striker. Is there?
My main worry and it is a worry is defence. Last season we were solid and unbreakable. Now it seems like panic stations every time the opposition attack. Why wasn't Stones used, he has to be miles better than Distin. I know I shouldn't but I have to also question Jagielka and his performance yesterday. Do you guys think he had an off day too?
Please Bill, give Roberto some cash to make us solid again at the back. Surely you can see the desperation there. Also, let him buy a quality striker or even a quality loan or 2. Please, we need to improve on last season and make the next step up to the Champions league or we would have made all this progress for nothing and start doing a backwards move.
I appreciate it's only 2 games in and no I'm not panicking, yet, but we started last season with 3 draws and finished 5th. This is not good enough for this season if we want Champions league. Do you agree or am I doom mongering?
Best regards to all Ed's and Blue noses.

Marc (Marky Marc)

1.) The thing I would say to that is Distin always has been and always will be a better centre back than Jags. So it's more offensive to question Distin than Jags.

2.) Agree we need a striker maybe 2 with the demands of Europa remy eto and cb we missed out big time on caulker and martins indi but what about winston ried from west ham. big physical guy

3.) 24 Aug 2014 15:40:46
Senseros is a big phyisical guy too bretto, means zilch, although I disagree about missing out big time on martins indii (awful) and caulker (qpr and palace were the only teams after him, says a lot) I do like reid, solid defender but would cost 10m upwards, there are younger and better centre backs out there for less

4.) I mean we need enogh powerfull cb to compete with distan as stones simular to jags and reid got 12 months on contract
