I've just watched Martinez response on tv to the rumour of a £50 million bid from Moyes for Barkley. Hilarious, hopefully it will put that rumour to bed, but it wouldn't surprise me if Moyes came in and embarrassed himself again.

1.) Watched that myself Martin, brought a smile to my face. You just can't fail to be impressed with RM every time you hear him talk, such a positive man who seems to radiate positivity. He comes across as the type of person who could make you believe it was dark when it was daylight.

2.) Watched the video too courtesy of the Mail . pure gem of a reply, haven't stopped laughing since listening to it . a must for All Blues Fans to listen to.

3.) If 50 million is the right amount of money and upfront then everton should accept but they have to have the money there so they can then possibly buy 4-5 good squad players perhaps barry permanent and 3 good players to compliment the team or get the 50 million but loan back for rest of season?

4.) Why accept £50m, it would send out totally the wrong message and prove we have zero ambition. We should be building a team around him for years to come not selling him off for peanuts. If he goes to Brazil and has a good tournament his value will increase, so selling for £50m is incredibly myopic.

Besides, if we sold him now for £50m, other clubs would raise their prices for any replacements. Anyone willing to sell him now for £50m is not seeing the bigger picture, IMO, though Bill may be rubbing his hands with glee at the prospect of a £50m windfall. Oh, and the majority of transfers are paid over 3 years so no chance of £50 upfront unless it's a condition of the sale.

Poor old Davey, didn't even last a season. And how poetic he gets the boot after his team gets a kicking at Goodison. I bet even BK can't help a wry smile.

Also, I wonder how BigWig is feeling now, another one who thought he was destined for bigger and better thing only to discover he wasn't a good as he thought. The only friend in Manchester he had was Moyes

So Mr Moyes, what will you do now you have been exposed as a classless, technically inept manager, Norwich will be looking for a new manager to get them out of the Championship. I suggest you get your CV in there quick!

Martin-EFC

1.) If Neil Lennon leaves Celtic to try managing in the English Premier League (as has been rumoured - perhaps Norwich City), then there must be a chance that David Moyes would become the manager at Celtic.

{Ed025's Note - very possible sid

2.) I'm not sure he could even win anything in the SPL

3.) Davey Moyes sacked at Man U. It's the end of an error. Sorry, era.

{Ed025's Note - nice one lee.. :)

4.) Blue Lee: very droll - I like it :-)

5.) Excellent Blue Lee

6.) I reckon Moyes will become the next Newcastle manager when Pardew gets the boot at the end of the season.

Obviously, 3 points are a must tonight to keep the dream alive, but I reckon 4th spot could go down to goal difference and Palace at home is probably the best opportunity we have over the next 5 games to get lead on Arsenal.

Arsenal still have to play Hull, Newcastle, West Brom and Norwich and I can't see them dropping any points. We only have a 4 goal advantage over them at the moment and if we win 4 out of our last 5 and draw the other (I'd take a draw from the city game) we'll both finish the season on 79 points. Arsenal are playing crap at the moment but they are very capable of scoring a hat full in their remaining fixtures. So unless we can achieve the seemingly impossible and win the next 5 games and claim 4th spot outright, we need to improve our goal difference. I can see them going for it tonight. 4-0

Martin-EFC

{Ed025's Note - just the win would do for me marty, arsenal have to play 2 teams fighting for their lives, and they can be just as hard as playing the top teams mate..

1.) I would be surprised if arsenal won every match left can't remember them winning 5 or 6 on the bounce

I've just gone cold at the thought of the ultimate nightmare.

Imagine we achieved the improbable and won the rest are game and claimed 4th spot, and Moyes went on to win the champions league. Surely not!

Martin-EFC

1.) The clairvoyant, Shirley Knott, has looked into the future and has foreseen that ManUtd will not win this season's UEFA Champions League. She refused to say who she foresees finishing fourth in this season's Premier League.
Personally speaking, I don't believe all this fortune telling mumbo jumbo - I think it's a load of (crystal) balls ;-)

2.) Mr. Moyes will be providing color commentary for NBC in the US next year at the rate Man United is going.

His only hope. win the CL.

By the way, who would take Felli back for 5 million?

3.) I probably would do New Blue, but only if he drastically changed his temperament and commitment. If the team isn't playing well he just thinks that's his cue to give up and go missing, in reality a player like him should be taking the game by the scruff of the neck. If he was to return, he should be sat down in a room and told to watch videos of Tim Cahill to understand what true commitment is. Also, I would only have him back if he played in a deeper role.

4.) Don't worry, it won't happen. Manchester United winning the Champs League that is.They are the worst team left in it and Moyes the most technically limited coach. If Everton do miss out on 4th Manchester United will have nothing to do with it.

5.) 04 Apr 2014 00:13:53
Bitter, I agree with most of your post until u said play him in a deeper role. I think this is when he went missing and was not so effective because his passing is suspect at times. I'd use him as an impact sub on 20 mins left if drawing or losing a game and use his quality of height, but not to the extent moyes did. Play him in the attacking mid role behind the striker, but build up play to the byline and cross balls into the box with him attacking the back post to nod back into the 6 yard area for tap ins.

Good win today but I'm absolutely gutted. I feel so sad for Oviado. For the first time I can remember watching Everton I have more empathy with the player than I have with the club. All players will suffer an injury at some point but this is depressing.

Brian Oviado is a top footballer, I won't go over the top and say he's world class, but a top, top footballer. None of us knew how good he really was because he was never given the opportunity until a couple of months ago (Hats off to Leighton). But let's be honest, if he was transferred before the start of the season none of us would have been that concerned, Moyes obviously only ever saw him as a left back and therefore never appreciated how good he was attacking down the wing. He had to sit it out on the bench and wait for his chance. (Hat's off to Martinez for recognizing his true potential), but he's come in, done everything that was asked of him, and become a crowd favorite.
As far as I'm aware, he's sat on the bench for the last couple of year's like a true professional, knowing he was a top player and never complained, never complained that he need game time etc. He just waited for his opportunity and took it. A true professional.

Like most of us, I never followed Costa Rica's progress to the world cup finals, but apparently he was inspirational in their qualification. I'm gutted for the lad that he's now going to miss representing his country in Brazil.

Like I said, good win but marred by Oviado's injury. We all wish him well and look forward to seeing him in a blue shirt again next season.

Your naïve to believe Moyes has no input. He's the general manager of the football club, who do honestly think puts a valuation on these players. A pen pushing chief exec?

No thanks. The club would just become a vehicle to advertise a product, surely we have more class than that.

I agree with everything except for Fellani. He was a DM player and fitted in to a DM style of play, he's certainly not a RM player.

Besides, he's too goods for us (or so he and his dad thinks)

Totally agree with you Ed about teams fighting for the lives, and hopefully one of them teams will do us a favour, but I would still feel better if we stretched out that good a bit, one less thing to stress about over the next few weeks

The guy may be a great manager. But as a person he always comes across as an arrogant person. I thought what Wenger said was spot on. Mourinho's response was pathetic.

Spot on mate. We're all entitled to an opinion but some fans have unrealistic expectations. They expect our players never to have off days, and the board to gamble limited funds on players that may add to the squad but not necessarily improve it. (sorry, that last point is in reference to later posts).
If only 'real' life was as easy as Football Manager
