Looking ahead to start of the season I think we are in a better place now than the beginning of last season even without any new signings. The reason I say this is because last season we had no Tosun, no Coleman, no Walcott then Baines got injured very early and missed a big chunk of the season Sigurdsson wasn't even nearly match fit. Now with Lookman a year older and having gained valuable experience with RB Leipzig we are going to have a much different side for the first game than last year, one with hopefully a bit more steel and attacking threat. That's not to say we don't need anyone else in, a CB and LB are essential in my view and maybe another top class striker to ensure competition . Can't wait for.

Good post toffeeAl nice and positive. I agree we are in a better place and am not panicking. Add to your comment Dowell who may or may not get a look in, but looks like he has a good left foot.

I was thinking about the CB position and wondered, if we have holgate and jags/ Keane as first choice next season, Williams has 12 months on his contract and earns stupid wages. Would it be worth signing an unknown on half his wages and getting rid of Williams but paying half his wages to get rid of him.
My point being, if the player coming in will take a few months to settle and even then might not dislodge someone we already have, is it worth holding back, having williams as 4th choice? making do, and when Williams goes, go all out for a top quality player knowing we can invest all wages saved on Williams on them.

I'd like him gone but just thought this might be better than paying his new club 50000 a week or whatever it would be.

2.) 14 Jul 2018 13:21:23
Very nice post this mate.

3.) 14 Jul 2018 13:28:57
Williams has to go for me. You can't play that bad and still have a place in the sqaud. CB is a must. Getting a solid back four in front of Jordan Pickford enhances our ability to keep hold of him imo. can't see him staying if he had to put that again this season.

31 May 2018 16:23:13
It has also been reported on the BBC that Big Dunc will be continuing his role as first team coach, hopefully he can bring the best out of Cenk.

ToffeeAL

1.) 31 May 2018 17:59:56
I don't think anyone is brave enough to tell him to go :)

2.) 31 May 2018 22:47:41
True Lance Link. His last breath will probably be at our new stadium!

22 May 2018 21:39:44
What do you all think of the report Baines is considering switching to the MLS? If this does happen we would be looking at recruiting 2 left backs unless Garbutt finally steps up.

ToffeeAL

1.) 22 May 2018 23:15:28
If he goes, will be remembered fondly. Past his best now and you could see him wanting to enjoy a couple of years in the sunshine. Let him go by all means, but get a few quid for him.

2.) 22 May 2018 23:34:25
Good luck to him, a true professional, had a few injuries during his career, but his partnership with Pienaar has been one of the few highlights we have enjoyed over the past ten years.

3.) 23 May 2018 06:24:57
I love LB. He's always imo been one of our most consitent players - until that is his last long term injury. Calm down Negs. He's still a great player but age and/ or injuries are catching up with him so if he wants a move maybe we should cash in before it's too late. Whatever he decides to do he will always have a place in my Blue Heart.

4.) 23 May 2018 10:14:15
would be very sad to see bainesy go, think he can still do a job at the very least a squad player. if allowed to leave surely that means we've been impressed with the left back we loaned out to Bolton, robinson.

5.) 23 May 2018 12:39:41
If he does go I hope he comes to the first home game so we can give him a proper send off.

6.) 23 May 2018 14:55:30
Love him to stay one more year as back up to whoever we buy, but if he goes he deserves his pay day in the sun.
Possibly the best player overall of the last 10 years good luck Bainsey, we will allways welcome you back.

7.) 23 May 2018 15:58:31
Been a great servant.
Shame his England career didn't start 2 or 3 years earlier as he was over looked in my opinion.

Time to move on, he is the wrong side of 33 and hasn't been at the races for the last 2 seasons.

Deserves full respect. Also means 2 Lbs required now.

18 May 2018 16:33:35
Is anyone else a bit relieved we didn't finish 7th? I know we would have had a European place but I think our season would have suffered again with the July start and all the newly discovered optimism would have evaporated before the season really began.
I'm actually really looking forward to next season now, there was a moment when I did regret renewing my season ticket and was not looking forward to the 180 mile round trip to watch the drivel we have seen this year. COYB!

ToffeeAL

1.) 18 May 2018 17:08:19
Seems weird to say it. But yes ToffeeAl. Also getting into Europe would probably mean Allerdyce would be staying. The team isn't his apart from 2 and they've performed better than most. All things considered that's not actually hard to out perform the rest of the team. Tosun yoy can't really moan at because he didn't get the support.

2.) 18 May 2018 21:15:57
Relieved we did not finish higher, of course not. I support Everton Football Club and wish them to do the best they can every season. Forgive me but by saying relieved we did not finish 7th is surely akin to saying we have no ambition to conquer the top six and finish consistently in the top 4.

3.) 18 May 2018 22:25:56
Totally agree TL, said this last year Watch Burnley struggle next season because like us not a strong enough squad.

4.) 19 May 2018 08:32:22
Spot on TA we struggled last year and the second year under RM. Europa league is a joke of a competition if you have to start mid July and don't have a massive squad.

5.) 19 May 2018 10:19:09
I’d love to finish higher, BUT missing out on the UEL next season might be a blessing in disguise while the club settles into its new structure.

16 May 2018 15:00:37
Do Watford have a legitimate reason to now report us to F.A 6 months after the alleged tapping up regarding Silva or are they just trying to make things as difficult as they can for us and Silva?

ToffeeAL

1.) 16 May 2018 15:49:39
I don't think so Toffeeal I think we will pay the compo fee and that's it to me it's making Watford look very petty I was talking a a journalist on Twitter who accused Everton of tapping Silva up I asked him 2 questions 1 does he know what tapping up actually means and 2 has he any proof he refused to answer both questions which tells me a lot they are very angry that we offered them 12 million which they refused and will now get nothing.

2.) 16 May 2018 16:25:32
Well that's clearly just it.
Watford aren't happy with our offers (been a few I've been told) and officially he's on gardening leave so isn't a free agent.

Watford obviously have lost their patience and are now making official complaints.
It's all a squeeze. A few will be agreed just before it seems to get messy and all will be fine.

3.) 16 May 2018 17:33:30
When I heard Watford were taking us to the FA, I thought it was because we sold them Tom Cleverley . if that was the case I'd pay up under Trade Descriptions Act.

4.) 16 May 2018 18:47:28
Well if the Watford problem cannot be resolved in one week I would move on. The last thing we want is it to drag on and on and end up with a manager coming in with one week to go before the start of a new season. We want whoever they choose in asap to give them plenty of time to review what needs doing with Brands.

Does anyone know if the cup game counts as one of Richarlisons 3 game ban?

ToffeeAL

{Ed002's Note - It will.}

1.) 28 Aug 2018 14:33:11
I'm not sure it does Ed. Stated somewhere it's league games and not Cup games. I may be wrong but sure I saw it somewhere that he misses Huddersfield, I think West ham is after that then arsenal game.

{Ed002's Note - Ok, let's hope he has a fantastic game and score lots and lots of goals then.}

2.) 28 Aug 2018 16:36:06
Sorry Ed002. I read it wrong. You are right. Article must of said he was back for Arsenal game. My apologies.

{Ed002's Note - There is no need to apologise.}

3.) 28 Aug 2018 17:04:05
I thought there was a new rule that suspensions were only enforceable in their own competition. So league for league and cup comp a different thing. I could be wrong as I haven’t checked for sure.

4.) 29 Aug 2018 10:03:05
Hope not as anyone sent off tonight could be banned for 3 years if we lose in 2nd round each season.

5.) 29 Aug 2018 12:39:50
Big Dunc and Cahill probably would have lifetime bans if that were true Ricktee.

6.) 29 Aug 2018 14:27:34
Your not far wrong al for some reason yellow cards picked up in the league cup will not carry through to other domestic competition not sure about red cards only read it was yellows bit confusing if that's true part of a number of changes this season in the league cup i. e. No more extra time before pens we have reverted back to to abba format and ditched the traditional abab format along with one or two more changes hope this helps with the conflicting thoughts guys

Although I've probably just made it worse.

7.) 29 Aug 2018 21:59:47
Ricktee, the best reply I have ever seen on here😂. Banned for 3 years haha.

20 Aug 2018 23:42:39
I just want to congratulate the club on the new seating that was built for disabled fans. The view that most of use had from the disabled seating was poor at best but the view from the back of the Park End was fantastic ( I received an invitation to try the seats for the Southampton game ) mid week games in the winter will be so much nicer when we don't get a soaking when it rains. Well done EFC.

ToffeeAL

{Ed0333's Note - good for you mate, glad your seats have been upgraded, and the football is infinitely better this season also.

1.) 21 Aug 2018 12:50:35
I thought the view was good where I was but obviously didn't sit in every place so i'm not disagreeing with you in any way. The rain was a huge, huge problem though. Glad to hear that they have made improvements.

2.) 21 Aug 2018 17:08:02
This is very good news, the club was meant to inform me of these things as I am slightly disabled but getting worse.
They have been non responsive to my mails, not pleased.

10 Aug 2018 22:57:33
Does anyone know if Rui Patricio is allowed to play tomorrow? I'm sure I read that his previous side have reported Wolves for the way they signed the player and I was wondering who owns his registration.

ToffeeAL

1.) 10 Aug 2018 23:20:31
I’m sure that would have been mentioned in the build up. They’ll have a lot of debutants. Let’s hope it takes them a while to gel!

2.) 11 Aug 2018 08:28:34
Make no bones about it, Wolves are a very good side. Watched them a few times last Season and they reminded me a little of our 80's side.

{Ed025's Note - they are not a bad side DFS but that was the championship and this is the big time, they like us have brought in a lot of players and it will depend on how and when they integrate them into their side, two teams in transition i would say and my prediction is 1-1 mate..

3.) 11 Aug 2018 08:56:50
Wouldn't like to predict the score Ed. I am on the side of those that think/ say it will be 5 or 6 games before we see a Silva side emerging.

{Ed025's Note - maybe a bit more than that even DFS..

20 Apr 2018 19:47:01
Just realized we are actually now mathematically safe from relegation with Southampton's draw the other night so Now Allardyce has no excuse for any negative tactics, let's see what we get on Monday night.

ToffeeAL

1.) 20 Apr 2018 23:15:06
I don't think they'll be any changes if there's no injuries Al same team same tactics not looking forward to Monday night.

2.) 21 Apr 2018 07:31:53
his first thought will be don't lose so Newcastle don't go ahead of us i really feel for Tosun he has gone from beskitas who play attacking football to the crap Sam has us playing just what he is meant to to up top on his own baffles me the sooner Sam is shown the door the better.

3.) 21 Apr 2018 09:59:40
I'd be happy to play it safe, get this season out of the way in a ok ish position, those few places we could drop is probably worth a few million. pay sam off with it and start again.

4.) 21 Apr 2018 10:43:19
I see the rest of the season as something of a watershed. On truth our season is done. We will play nobody who would remotely justify negativity. It is time for Allardyce to show that he is capable of setting up as side which is at least attempting to play and not just stop.

5.) 21 Apr 2018 12:26:10
Never going to happen. He doesn't understand anything but 'avoid defeat'

20 Apr 2018 19:41:24
I bet Walcott is bricking it, he left Arsenal primarily because Wenger wouldn't play him although I guess there's not too many better options than Theo at present.

ToffeeAL

1.) 20 Apr 2018 21:11:18
Why would Walcott be bricking it. Wenger isn't coming to us. If he joined any club especially in the Premiership he instantly loses all respect and legend status from Arsenal. Wenger is nearly 70. Surely he's wanting some down time playing golf or whatever he enjoys and surely the stress of it all is something he can do without.

I bet Arsenal have offered him a brilliant package to retire now and sit on the board.
If I was Wegner and they didn't. I think I would actually cry. He's given his life to Arsenal. If I'm right the Arsenal should have the decency to announce him and stop any stupid rag publishing utter shite about him considering, in talks or anything linking him to another club. Just isn't happening.

2.) 21 Apr 2018 00:01:19
it was meant as a joke with all the Wenger to Everton talk. Jeez.

I'm sorry Blue79 but if Coleman could do with a rest 4 games into the season then he's got more problems than that foot injury.

We could have Jef Bezos on the board and it would not make any difference we still have to stick to FFP.

BLUEY79, the way I read the story is that everyone was behind Tom Davies not Niasse so I haven't seen anyone calling for Tom to be kicked out.
Now I do love Niasse for his attitude on the pitch but if he is causing that much unrest it could point to a reason for some of the poor form some of then have been showing.

Obviously the fact its in the S*n is more than enough reason to treat this as BS, another reason is that for all of Big Sam's faults he never struck me as a man who would tolerate someone disrupting the dressing room to that extent.
as in all things at this time of year its probably better to wait and see before getting upset with any rumours that might appear.

I have just received a membership for The Blue Base that provides a place for Disabled fans on matchdays to sit and rest before the match . It has provided a much needed place for me to recover from the 180 mile round trip I have to take to get to games.
Well done EITC and EFC.

To be fair Keen when you were growing up the league was almost exclusively Uk born players who would have been comfortable with the language and way of life in the country where they would be playing, now they have to come to terms with a new country, a new culture, and in many cases a completely new language I would think all that would take time to get your head around some might never manage it so I am happy to be patient and hopefully we will see the best they have to offer and I doubt us getting on their backs will make all that any easier.
