Calvert-lewin on the way for a medical, decent young prospect 1.5m according to press.

1.) 31 Aug 2016 14:35:12
Think he will be the only player we sign today.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 14:42:40
Weren't henan and the Swiss lad supposed to be great young prospects as well.

3.) 31 Aug 2016 14:57:12
Not everyone makes it. Takes more than just skill to succeed in football.

4.) 31 Aug 2016 16:40:34
Great young prospects according to Martinez and Kevin Reeves. I'd trust Koeman and Walsh over those two any day!

5.) 31 Aug 2016 16:29:45
I agree cropper would just prefer if we strengthened our first team as a priority. not being a pessimist, far from it.

Daily fail have us in for Fazio from Spurs as Stones replacement! i'd beg for Johnny Evans before this clown!

Toffeehead

1.) 25 Aug 2015 22:17:12
I'm not a fan of Fazio either! Didn't he get back to back red cards in his first 2 games for Spurs? Why not ask Phil nev to fill in for a while?

Holgate 100% should play in my view.
If we played three CB’s then I think we can accommodate for Keane despite his lack of pace if another CB is signed who has some. Ship out Williams and have jags/ besic/ Pennington as back ups. Baines call also play as a left sided centre back in a 3 now we have a Natural LB to replace him. (I think this was maybe part of the thinking behind letting Mori leave)

In short I’m saying I hope we sign a CB. If we can bring in 2 and not have to rely on the back ups mentioned then even better.

If there is one major positive from this window it has to be the way everyone including John Stones handled the situation. I was certain he would go after handing in a request. Class all round unlike Berahino, what I pipe he seems to be.
Dissapointed not to bring in a "marquee" signing but we do have options with the players we have signed. Lennon/Del competing for the place Kone currently has been playing in and Kone as a backup stricker/sub to change formation and go 2 up for example.

It's not all doom and gloom!

If Stones wants to go we have to let him go, maybe other clubs will also come in and push up the price, before he handed in a request all clubs but Chelsea seemed to respect our stance that he's not for sale which now has to change.

If he doesn't want to play at Goodison I certainly don't want to pay to watch him.

Toffeehead

1.) 25 Aug 2015 21:20:23
He will get booed tomorrow I suspect.

2.) 25 Aug 2015 21:32:51
Only just signed a contract and even if that is IF he has handed in a transfer request, it does not change our Club's stance whether to sell or not and even then it should be at our price. But I will tell you what, if he does go then Van Dyke is not the replacement for him, Malmo walked past him for their two goals.

3.) 25 Aug 2015 22:03:03
Like I say "if" he doesn't want to play for us my view is that we have to change our stance, but only at the right price. as for van dyke I wouldn't judge him from one game and have not seen enough of him to judge at all. I'm sure we have been scouting all summer knowing we are already shirt at the back so hopefully the right replacements are lined up.

4.) 25 Aug 2015 22:05:39
Because he did a Lescot and is pushing for a move!

20 Aug 2015 19:22:28
If we sold stones 40million (I don't want this to happen) and signed Yarmolenko 10-15 mil (spelling) Mori 6 mill and Van Dyke (8-10) despite not spending all the money available would we agree it has been a good window? Personally I would like us to bring in a natural number 10 and spend the lot (stones cash +some) but the above is what I think will happen!

Toffeehead

1.) 20 Aug 2015 19:42:12
So let me get this right. You want to sell Stones a player with massive potential and proven in the Prem league. For a defender you've never heard of, a defender who plays for the best team in the scots league (so no competition), and a winger (cause we're short of them). Mmmm let me think.

2.) 20 Aug 2015 20:13:34
I agree Woburnblue. Rather keep Stones although I'd like to take the other 2 if we could.

3.) 20 Aug 2015 20:46:40
While I do think we need a number 10, Centre Back as cover and a Striker, not at the cost of Stones, even for all 3, we must keep him no matter what imo.

{Ed025's Note - it would be a great show of intent if we could swan..

4.) 20 Aug 2015 20:54:54
I agree Swan keep Stones at all costs. If we can get Yarmolenko and Van Dyke as well all the better.

5.) 20 Aug 2015 21:01:43
I agree with you all and as stated I don't want us to sell Stones, I was just asking the question as I've been debating it all day. Not selling him and bringing 3 in would be ideal, I just hope we don't cave in.

6.) 20 Aug 2015 21:39:26
he did not say he wanted to sell, just asked IF we did, and to answer your question toffeehead, I don't know about the argintine lad, van is ok but yarmolenko is class, so I would be in 2 minds as none of above are proven in prem, while I know yarmolenko is very very good and would be superb addition, judging on last season, defense was appalling so for me IF we sold stones, it would depend on if van or the argi hit ground running, if the did and yarmo if he signed then I would prob be happy, I remember rooney going and like most fans I felt we were doomed, then moyes signed m.bent to replace him to my and most fans horror, as a result we finished 4th, my point is this one man dnt make a team, especially a young boy, ( I don't want him to go and personally would refuse £50 as in 2-3 yrs I think barca real an so on will be courting him) he is not the be all and end all of everton fc

7.) 20 Aug 2015 23:28:52
We probably still owe for lukaku therell be very little money left to buy 1 player

8.) 20 Aug 2015 23:37:42
And sorry forgot Barnsley s cut

9.) 21 Aug 2015 00:01:49
Toffee head don't debate all day you'll go blind. At least I think that's what my mum said?

I’m local to Stoke (not sure what I did to deserve this! ) and have lots of Stoke supporting friends (also a shame! ) . Anyway they say they haven’t been all that impressed with the lads attitude and commitment to the club. Rated as a decent player though by the majority though.

Hey GT happy to admit the 1.08 is an error, they got 12 points from 13, with Sam we have 22 from 14!

The truth is that big Sam has taken on average 1.5 points a game since being announced (inc the West Ham game) , on this form had he been in charge from the start of the season we would be 7th 3 points behind Arsenal! He’s exactly what we need right now and poor football or not we’re harder to beat and winning the games we should be with the odd exception. Under RK and DU we took 1.08 points per game, Based on that we’d be 2 points at best from the bottom 3! Support Sam, support the team and save the moaning for when it’s really needed!

The money is irrelevant now, he's not going to be anywhere near as much as we are asking for Lukaku and would put just as many in the onion bag!

I don't see your point, we needed a centre back and got 1, Lennon has nothing but pace, Del is also quick. Clev is hard working and arguably our best player so far this season!

Martinez can only spend what he is given, I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch, tactically he needs to improve but I beleive the players we have now if selected correctly are better than 3/4 seasons ago.
