Delph injured again what a let down he's been spent most of his time on the physio table.

billydean

1.) 11 Jun 2020 19:06:44
We knew he was injury prone when/ before he arrived. If Brands is allowed to develop and recruit on his model, Delph etc! may well be a thing of the past. let's see how Carlo has been able to motivate and train the rest during this unfortunate period.

2.) 11 Jun 2020 19:26:23
You get what you sign delph injury record at man city was horrendous so it would be stupid to think it would get better at everton considering he was a year older think this was a big waste of money on wages which I guess would be considerable.

3.) 11 Jun 2020 22:59:45
as EDD002 said a few times, let's hope that the football experts at the club pick the players, this is our biggest chance to step up, MOSHIRI, ANCELLOTTI, AND BRANDS with possibility of USMANOV buying / joining the club . let's do it right now guys!

10 May 2019 18:46:12
Reports Gomes is going to spurs fs how many times have spurs gazumped us I'm torn now if I want them to beat liverpool.

billydean

1.) 10 May 2019 19:08:59
Is there some way both teams can get banned before June 1?

2.) 10 May 2019 19:17:11
Well we'll have to wait and see if it is true. If he does sign for Spurs then good luck to him, they are a more attractive proposition than ourselves sadly in this moment of time. I would like us to sign him myself. On a positive note I have faith in Marcel Brands to get the right type of players in come the summer.

3.) 10 May 2019 20:05:08
On a positive note it looks like David Luis has signed a two year extension so could improve our chances to sign Kurt Zouma.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't improve anything. If Everton want to sign Kurt Zouma they need to talk to the player, and if he thinks it a nifty idea, make a serious offer to Chelsea. They could do it tomorrow.}

4.) 11 May 2019 07:44:42
On a more positive note. David Luiz signing a contract extension improves our chances of making top 6 next season 😉.

5.) 11 May 2019 13:35:40
Top comment smit 🤣🤣.

6.) 15 May 2019 10:36:34
Totally lost me Ed002 saying Luiz signing doesn’t improve our chances with Zouma. If Chelsea’s ban stands then they will need to ensure they have sufficient centre halves already in their ranks. If Luiz didn’t sign then would be an additional gap for a centre half. With him signing, if indeed he has, they have him, Rudiger, Christiansen as first choices. Hopefully ( for Everton) Zouma would be only 4th choice - if not further back.
If Luiz were to go then clearly he moves up the list.

So as I say totally lost me with that one.

So our season is over again in January what have we left to look forward to maybe putting the brakes on the dark sides push for the title so that's our cup final 3 points at home in the derby God it's depressing being a blue.

billydean

1.) 28 Jan 2019 23:08:15
Hate to be the party pooper Billy but looking at City’s fixtures, I just do not see our neighbours slipping up twice and City not.

It is going to happen, just cannot see them throwing it away.

2.) 29 Jan 2019 14:32:13
You obviously won't agree BigNev but after so long without I have a funny feeling our neighbours will bottle it in the end so the least we can do is help them on their way by taking all 3 points ;-p.

26 Jan 2019 20:26:21
Shocking, absolute rubbish, we defended just like we did under martinez. 3 set pieces, 3 goals something is rotten in our club and its been going on for years good luck milwall.

billydean

20 Jan 2019 00:11:08
What can be done on a more positive note with tactics or playing staff to get us out of this slump?

billydean

1.) 20 Jan 2019 03:44:53
That's the Million Dollar question isn't it billy. There is so much wrong atm it's hard to know what to do. Maybe instead of trying to force square pegs into round holes, as Everton often do, getting a proper striker and playing Richarlison in his favoured position out wide would be a start.

2.) 20 Jan 2019 09:45:18
Yes but why are there so many "quality players" that suddenly seem unable pass/ cross/ tackle or play consistently for 90 minutes.
Is it
1) Attitude
2) Unable to follow instructions
3) Lack of instruction.

{Ed025's Note - all the above i would say mate..

3.) 20 Jan 2019 09:50:26
It is a head scratcher isn’t it.

You’re right H, but easier said than done, especially in January. I’d honestly give Tosun a run in the side, even with Richarlison in behind him. He’s a great natural finisher CT so I’d give him a decent run.

You can see with Richarlison that he’s got pace to burn and can be very direct, but when he’s doing that through the middle, he doesn’t know what to do when he gets in the final third. As a winger, he can cut inside or cross a ball.

Either way, it’s very frustrating at the moment and it’s hard to see where and how things will change.

4.) 20 Jan 2019 10:10:14
Sorry to say but one of the major criticisms levelled against Martinez was a lack of plan B!
For me this is happening all over again same line up no variation in formation to play home or away, and a failure to get the team fired up and motivated, although second half v Bournemouth there were signs.
Silva has quite a dour disposition and I’m not sure if this is how he comes over in training unfortunately I’m not in the know but a word to describe us at the moment is ‘Fragile’, we seem to have no leadership and a massive loss of confidence!

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that wakka mate..

5.) 20 Jan 2019 14:50:06
Agree there wakka got to say Silva seems to have his favourites that he sticks by even yesterday we could see how bad Richarlson was (not the only one) could and should have made changes at half time so hence no plan B think it just needs freshening up DCL or Tosun up front Richarlson back on the wing, Bernard at 10 as Sig has been anonymous, drop the zonal marking aswell lots more I could mention hope a strong team on Sat and next round of the cup boy do we need a cup run to lift the fans this season.

6.) 20 Jan 2019 15:08:26
Be careful what you wish for lee1878. Martinez and Wigan had a good Cup run. The only difference this time is that there are 3 Clubs worse than us in the league.

7.) 20 Jan 2019 20:08:40
Well the BBC must think there's a cup upset, they have us live on Saturday.

8.) 20 Jan 2019 21:12:01
Wakka that’s exactly what we are fragile if we go a goal down that’s it for us and if a team pressures us from the start we crumble we need a leader and a real baller in midfield.

9.) 20 Jan 2019 21:13:17
There is no question we need a striker, I think what is hampering us is Silva has got in his head certain players playing and assuming they will come good in the end.

If he lands a striker, that will push Richarlison back out to the left, that then leaves Lookman moving over to the right, meaning no place for Walcott, he could try Gomes further up field, that then hampers Siggerson.

That is why I am not holding my breath of a striker coming in.

He would sooner play Richarlison out of position, than start with Calvert Lewin as a striker, bringing a striker in makes Silvas set up go tits up.

We can all see it, other teams know exactly how we are going to start, what subs are going to be used if the other team goes a goal up, so predictable at the moment.

That is why other teams are picking us off.

Silva needs to mix it up and come up with a plan b.

10.) 20 Jan 2019 21:28:45
I think we need a ball winner in centre mid who's going to put himself about and put his foot in that's why I would think of starting McCarthy against millwal and I'd think of playing tosun or dcl upfront and move richarlison back to the wing as it's time for us to give him a break from the striker role and maybe the inclusion of McCarthy might gives us the energy we need.

11.) 21 Jan 2019 11:01:02
When was the last time we played a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1 changed tactics and took the game to other teams at Goodison, the opposition have against us we have constantly played the 4-2-3-1 since Martinez days and it really doesn’t seem to suit us every game!
2 defensive midfielders in front of the back 4 and we still ship goals in!

12.) 21 Jan 2019 13:12:31
You really classify Gomes as a defensive midfielder?

13.) 22 Jan 2019 09:29:25
Dave I refer to the formation as opposed to the individual players put there.

Right here we go carlo is to f***in old to take this bunch of over earning underperforming bunch of creations anywhere not that he's not a legend it's just we are a car crash and need Jesus Christ himself to stop the bleeding.

billydean

1.) 02 May 2021 08:14:52
Nothing to do with the manger. Pathetic that you can evan blame him point your finger at the players nor good enough and will never be good enough past mangers bad signings. Iwobi, gomes, bernard, sigurdson, holgate all average at best . Ill judge the manger when he has bought players in and has a full 11 of his choice.

2.) 02 May 2021 09:01:05
Took the words out of my mouth evocallum, have read a few Carlo out esque posts and have just stood in my kitchen thinking he hasn’t even had a single season yet with players that he selected, not inherited.

Yes they were very poor last night, few have mentioned why did he bring Delph on, massive tactical error, what I say to that is have you seen our bench?! . Who else was he meant to bring on for some fresh legs, and before you say Davies, you’d just be saying why did he bring on Davies this morning.

The fact is Carlo has the ability to attract the kind of players we need to move to the next level, never in my wildest dreams last year did I expect to see James strutting his stuff at Goodison. That alone is reason to stick by him, he’s had 4 players he actually wanted and given more time I’m sure we’ll start to reap the benefits once he has “his” squad. People are too quick to chalk off a manager these days, but saying that I read Spurs may be looking at Martinez, maybe we should get in there before them. Bring the old glory days back.

3.) 02 May 2021 09:19:15
Exactly Evocallum mate we have been in a serious mess through several managers now, and to complain about Carlo before he assembles his own Team is ridiculous, give him a couple more windows to make his mark, he is playing the best players we have and as we can all see many are average to below average and need replacing pronto.

4.) 02 May 2021 09:43:36
Sorry Evo but Carlo has to take some responsibility.

We have all seen that the players you mention - Holgate, Gomes, sigurdsson, Bernard and iwobi - are average yet Carlo continually picks them. I swear sigurdsson is the first name on his team sheet.

Now if we the fans realise that these players are poor you’d hope that a world class manager would also be able to see it.

Before people say they’re not his players etc, agree with that, however what’s the point in us having the under 23s? Surely there would be some decent options in there that would at least give 100% each game compared to the rose players mentioned.

I’m in no way suggesting getting rid of Carlo, he’s the best manager we’ve recently had. However to say he’s blameless is not right. He picks the team and continually picks these crap players without giving the youngsters a chance.

Roll on the transfer window and hopefully we can off load some of these players - however not sure there’ll be many takers for the ones we want shot of.

5.) 02 May 2021 09:46:48
I agree we should give him more time for sure and hopefully at some point we will see some form of improvement. It's interesting though saying he shouldn't be judged at all until he has entirely his own team - think by that measurement there's a huge number of managers that have been sacked prematurely. Including allardyce!

01 May 2021 21:02:13
Holgate is useless he has a game losing mistake in him every game.

billydean

1.) 01 May 2021 22:09:02
He was awful again. Godfrey wasnt much better, very poor defencively again, midfield too slow, too many sloppy passes, then bring Delph on when we needed another goal, Ancelotti got the team wrong again, woeful home form.

2.) 01 May 2021 22:09:20
Well he doesn't apart from this game.
As long as we have gomes and siggy playing well we'll be alright. We'll apart from when Iwobi is on the pitch. How does he get on before Bernard?

3.) 01 May 2021 22:12:02
Whole team is useless. Not just the mistake from holgate but the fact he goes all the way back when in possession on the half way line. Gomes amazes me (in a bad way! ) He can knock a lovely 30 yard ball yet he cannot recycle the ball and find a 5 yard pass. Iwobi? Well he's iwobi. Sigurdsson pathetic. And as for richarlison, heard people share concerns about him moving on. Can't see that happening unless it's back to watford.

4.) 01 May 2021 22:14:17
Have to agree, it’s usually a rash tackle in a really bad position, too many rushes of blood to the head. In all honesty Villa deserved it, really rode our luck and lucky to still be in it and half time. Richy’s recent form worries me too, way too wasteful.

13 Apr 2021 09:38:25
What a shambles last night was surely to god we have a kid in the 23's that can take a pass and move forward because Tom Davies is the worst midfielder in the league he takes a 3 yard pass and puts it back where it came from these sort of passes are for his stats if we can get rid of him iwobi sigurdsson and nervous Holgate we'll be the same headless chicken until these championship at best players retire all I hear is be patient my god until when, when Davies is 30 what a waste of a European chance I'm so so tired of the same dross every year.

billydean

1.) 13 Apr 2021 11:44:57
I’m not a fan of Tom but feel he’s taking some unfair criticism for last night.
He was in the middle with sigurdsson and Rodriguez.
Surely Toms role last night was to break up play and help protect the back line which he did.

Sigurdsson and James were our creative players last night and neither created anything. Sigurdsson was awful again, passes going astray, no drive going forward, pointing all over the place to try and hide how poor he was.

At least Tom whilst didn’t create anything going forward did his job of breaking up play.

Sigurdsson on the other hand, no idea.

Further highlights we can’t play with 2 so called luxury players at the same time.

2.) 13 Apr 2021 13:15:06
I agree Dan. Sig and James supporting Richarlison clearly didn't work. When ever Richy got the ball they were no where near him and didn't have the pace to get beyond him. The didn't play through balls on the floor to utilise his pace. The amount of long balls in the air last night really wound me up. No idea going forward what so ever. I can imagine Richarlison was really frustrated and just plain bored with the lack of service he got.

3.) 13 Apr 2021 14:12:14
The sooner fans realise tom davies is not good enough the better he is awful. Brings nothing to the team looses the ball all the time can pass 3 yards. How people still stand by him is beyond me holgate played cm last night an was better than tom davies an evan holgates not good enough.
Big summer get rid of the effortless players

Iwobi
Davies
Siggurdson
Bernard
Gomes

And bring in fighters with actual football abilities
Pace passing and goal scoring.

12 Apr 2021 22:26:11
The sideways backwards passing is so slow and predictable it let's teams get back in shape no leaders today and we are nowhere near a champions league team we would only get embarrassed, sad but true as usual it's all went a little bit Everton.

billydean

14 Mar 2021 11:58:11
2 things Davies is never going to be the player we want him to be and how to God did iwobi make it as a pro footballer.

billydean

1.) 14 Mar 2021 12:35:05
But where was this criticism when they were playing well for months? i'm not saying you can't be critical of a performance, but why jump to hyperbolic knee-jerk reactions after a bad game?

2.) 14 Mar 2021 13:09:53
A bad game? Chelsea- bloody awful. West Brom-lucky. Southampton-lucky. We haven’t played well for weeks. Top 6 not a chance.

3.) 14 Mar 2021 14:00:14
Im talking about those players specifically. Iwobi didn't have a bad game compared to others, pre-assist for DCL’s goal and with better touches from DCL, has 2 assists. When Davies goes off, we’ve been average in all the games you mentioned. Seems an agenda singling those 2 out.

4.) 14 Mar 2021 16:41:09
We have pre-assists? Soon it will be well I was on the pitch at the time.
Iwobi wanted to play No10 the player everything goes through, the creator of chances. I didn't see any of that I saw a guy running around like an eight year old, then just disappear when he was most needed. And that's not the first time that has happened this season. The guy is Championship level at best.

{Ed077's Note - I don't think players can half-arse their way through a Championship campaign

5.) 14 Mar 2021 19:02:11
Championship level at best BB, you’re being too kind. I’ve seen better in the Ryman. I’m not joking. Has been said many times already but they look like they can't be bothered. They’re lucky Goodson isn’t packed to the rafters, they can't hear the booing through the telly. Recruitment in the summer should be 4 or 5 absolutely rapid grafters who can move the ball (and the team) forward hard and fast. and for the lazy ones (the majority! ) ) we need to recruit a drill sergeant.
