BBC sport reporting that Southampton have denied Everton permission to speak with Koeman.

bluebrum

1.) 03 Jun 2016 16:51:39
Yes I've just read that as well. However surely if Koeman has started talking to Everton then he will probably force the issue with the Saints? I can't see him and/ or his agent going for talks with Everton if he wasn't keen on the job. If he's had his head turned would Southampton be able to/ want to keep him?

{Ed002's Note - They could complain about an illegal approach being made.}

2.) 03 Jun 2016 17:00:01
always the cheerful chap Ed2.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry if you don't like the truth. Would it be better if I said "Southampton could pop along to the FA on their magical rainbow-colored unicorns and ask the FA to write a billet–doux to Everton to request that they don't talk to Koeman.}

3.) 03 Jun 2016 17:07:30
:) you bite so easy Ed, like a firework, just light the blue touch paper and off ye go, only joking Ed, apologies if I upset you.

{Ed002's Note - I'll not ban you just yet.}

4.) 03 Jun 2016 17:13:24
Southampton have every right to deny Everton permission to speak with Koeman who is under contract for another year. Can't blame them to be honest. I presume that Koeman can resign, forcing the issue.

5.) 03 Jun 2016 18:41:31
It depends entirely on the terms of the contract and on the willingness of either party to enforce those terms. Normally a financial offer is the way to test that willingness and far more likely solution than any injunctive relief, the days of master and servant have long gone.
Given Southampton's recent history in resisting approaches money talks.

6.) 03 Jun 2016 17:15:59
What are the rules surrounding an illegal approach Ed? In this case would be as simple as a fine and Koeman signs anyway?!

{Ed002's Note - No, because Everton were as far as I recall the last Premier League side fined and warned for tapping up and making an illegal approach for a player. That would be taken in to account if there were a complaint.}

7.) 03 Jun 2016 17:27:08
Is there a buy out clause for managers as there is for players?

{Ed002's Note - There isn't a "buy out" clause for players normally, and it can only be enforced if both clubs are working within the same jurisdiction.}

ssn transfer centre reporting Stones has handed in transfer request. Bad news

bluebrum

1.) 25 Aug 2015 17:15:35
If he wants to go it should not be sanctioned until a replacement is bought and then at a price that we value him at not what Chelsea want to pay. There is no loyalty in football nowadays. Players play for the noughts in there bank accounts only.

2.) 25 Aug 2015 17:45:47
Already said it but I agree with most comments on here regarding Stones. I hope the Club do a Levy and stick strongly to their guns, if he is to leave then slap a true valuation on him (40-45 mill), stick rigidly to it and let all suitors know that. Also not allowed to leave until a like for like replacement is signed.

3.) 25 Aug 2015 19:58:38
I know that players play for money these days but really what can we offere long term, nothing, develop for 5 years then you can move you might even get a semi finals in the fa cup on the way, we haven't won anything for 20 years we don't compete at the highest level so deciding maybe the guys who won the league last year and are a mainstay in the champs league is just a money thing is daft, maybe a factor but that's all

4.) 25 Aug 2015 20:44:14
Don't delude yourself Mike it's all about money. That's how agents make their cash., their not interested in medals only money. That's why these greedy buggers are happy to sit on there arses warming the bench. They couldn't care less about medals, just give me the MONEY!

5.) 25 Aug 2015 21:36:37
The likes of Man U and City will come in, now they know, I hope if he does go he chooses one of those instead of Chelsea

interesting stat on the BBC sport website today. In the preview for tonight's game against Palace, this was mentioned:

"Palace have conceded the most fouls in the Premier League this season (409) while Everton have committed the fewest (258) . "

Been a long time since I've seen an Everton side not being aggressive. Part of the problem maybe?

Said it before and I'll say it again. We play nice football with a nice attitude. That stems from you know who. Fair play to him he's well liked as a person but it doesn't cut it on the playing field. Once you cross that line you should be willing to do anything to win.

It comes out in the players on how they are coached and set up tactically. Unfortunately we have a gentleman implementing those. Personally I like the saying 'nice guys come last'

When your competing, especially in a professional sport nice shouldn't come into it.

Niasse on the bench, hopefully we finally get to see what kind of player he is!

Nice to see an unchanged team again today. Maybe RM has finally figured it out!

bluebrum

1.) 13 Feb 2016 16:29:09
Then why again playing a lower side have we set up to play counter attacking football with two defensive midfielders, soooo predictable!

2.) 13 Feb 2016 16:59:40
To easy to play against at home, he sets us up exactly the same way every time, RM you have to really take that stubborn head out of the rear orifice and have a plan B. I predicted weeks ago that we would finish 11th or lower and I am sorry to say RM is trying desperately to prove me right. Fed up of pretty tippy tappy stuff at home with no substance.

3.) 13 Feb 2016 21:18:40
I don't get why we didn't go 3-4-3 with Coleman and Oviedo operating as wing backs as west brom came to sit back. I would have left Lennon on and brought mirrallas on for McCarthy and went for it. It seems Martinez is not only stubborn but tactically inept. One dimensional in the way he sets us up to see play.

Well that was one in the eye for all the nay-sayers, and the idiots who wasted their money on that aeroplane banner! Cracking performance all round, bring on man city!

Jags is a central defender, we don't want him playing defence-splitting, chance-creating or match-winning passes!

Key term there is "being suggested." It would be nice if people stopped slagging the club off and waving their pitchforks every transfer window if we don't sign more players than someone else. Signing too many players does not promote stability, as clearly demonstrated by spurs, liverpool and man city last season.
