I just read that too apparently he is ready to move on. I hope that's a joke he plays for half the season gets sent off in the Derby goes off kissing the badge like a muppet and now HE'S ready to move on? if this is true then good riddance! £15 million ought to buy him as he's apparently come on leaps and bounds since he signed in his agent mind at least.

Good defender, under a good coach/ manager he will become a very good defender. Every team needs a defender in CB. My Grand Son at 8 is a good defender in my opinion, he has been signed by a good Club so they obviously agree. To me at 8 he is old school, he can pass but does not piss about, the ball is either wellied into the proverbial row Z, down the tram lines or just tapped out. The point I make is that every side would love a Martinez but with an Allardice/ Moyes graft.

Don't be too quick to get rid of our defenders. I'm not sure any of them were managed correctly under RM. yes they all underperformed but let's give them a chance under someone else. I think they'll be a lot better which shouldn't come as a surprise.

Well most people are saying he is going, but is he? Will only believe it when it is officially reported. If he does go who is going to replace him, I hope it is not Moyes. He was good for the club when we needed him but we have gone past that and need an experienced and successful Manager who can attract good players. Having money to splash around is not all that is needed for a successful club, a good commander-in-chief is also required.

What and we do not need him now. This person (refuse to be abusive) has destroyed what is apparently the best Squad this Club has had since the 80's. A great deal of deconstruction needs to happen and DM is just the man. He did it last time, by first of all making us unbeatable. The problem with Martinez methods is in order for them to work then you must have a solid defence, this bloke just blithely writes them off. Deplorable for a on the surface clever man.

James Forrest from celtic being mooted in the papers this morning. Good little winger and still pretty young at 22. What do you think eds?

1.) James forrest was touted to be a superstar a few Years ago
2.) He's a good player but i'm sure he has been having trouble with injuries
3.) Got a few Celtic supporting mates and the general consensus is that he's a good winger, but the SPL is his level. Like Hull's Brady; great for them, and would be good for someone around mid table, but would struggle to get into a top half team.
{Ed007's Note - I don't know what Celtic supporting mates you're talking to AB but not too many, including myself, rate Forrest even in the SPFL. Have a read on the Celtic pages. The papers are mentioning £7 million for him, the support would physically carry him down south for that money for him, just in case he got injured by driving/flying down. He's a perma-injured one trick pony winger who can't cross the ball or cut inside from out wide, imagine a very poor Ashley Young and you are getting there with Forrest.}
4.) So just imagine a current Ashley Young, then? Seriously though, didn't realise he was that bad. I last spoke to them about him last year, so either opinions have changed since then, or I'm not remembering things quite right. Either way, I didn't, and now definitely don't, want him.
{Ed007's Note - If Celtic didn't have Samaras then James Forrest would be the main focus of the fans anger, that's if he was ever fit enough to get a run in the team, he is very injury prone. To be fair he was a great prospect as a youth player and going into his 20's but, like a lot of Scottish youth players, he hasn't kicked on (except for his ego) and he turns 23 this summer.}
5.) Your saying this about him. I've seen him and he is a bit of Wigans Mcmanaman about him or a Mcgeady. What you're forgetting is he has Lennon as a manager, here he'll have Martinez a Manager who knows how to get the best out of his talent and put into a system that would be best suited for him. In Martinez we trust, Lennon has held him back too long he needs to be let loose now with a brilliant football brain to guide him.

Ive gone off the idea of a statement signing unless its a gk like foster or butland. Would prefer to sign players hungry to play with something to prove, unrealistic but the likes of tello or elhadadi types.
And i wouldn't underestimate the signings of williams/ gueye as they will prove vital for us over the season.

Nope. Not at all. But I don't expect it either if I'm honest. Which Marquee signing would want to come to a prem club which has finished 11th 2 seasons in the bounce? What I'm hoping for are a few players who will progress us further this year, get us back to where we were so to speak, then next summer will be our big summer. (I wouldn't be upset if Messi signed for us though haha)

Although most of the players will want European football, not all good players will have a chance to move to a club playing in Europe. take bojan and shakiri, both went to stoke and both are good players, not saying world beaters, but still good enough for better than Stoke.
