"It is being suggested that the reason Ramiro Funes Mori's price increased from £6.25m to £9.5m was because his River Plate contract entitled him to 50% of any transfer fee and, rather than risk the deal collapsing, Everton decided to pay the extra £3.25m with no central defensive alternatives lined up at this late stage in the window. Also claimed Everton only became aware of Funes Mori's entitlement late last week. Everton have not confirmed or denied the allegation." - Andy Hunter, The Guardian.

We are an utter shambles.

Key term there is "being suggested." It would be nice if people stopped slagging the club off and waving their pitchforks every transfer window if we don't sign more players than someone else. Signing too many players does not promote stability, as clearly demonstrated by spurs, liverpool and man city last season.

Anyone know when we can expect Kev back?

I know that we're all talking vaguely about the end-of-the-yearish, but I was wondering if anyone had any more precise info?

JohnAnt

1.) Bobby said kev will be assessed again after next FIFA day meant 20 Nov. around.

The Telegraph are quoting Roberto as saying that we're looking at "three positions which needed strengthening over the next ten months". That suggests to me that they won't be joining this transfer window, or even possibly the next.

I'm increasingly filled with a sort of impotent rage - we're clearly not being told the whole story by the club, so instead we feed on scraps of information, half truths and out right lies, fighting amongst ourselves whilst everyone on the board remains silent.

The promised AGM didn't happen last year and there's no sign of it being lined up for the coming season either.

Whilst the Blue Union were divisive, I do sympathise with some of their frustrations - the board repeatedly shows little regard for us, the life-blood of the club, and it will continue to while there is no mechanism in place for them to be held to account.

Sadly, I'm as much at a loss as anyone when it comes to what can actually be done to remedy the situation. Which brings me back to the whole 'impotent rage' bit.

Any suggestions are genuinely welcome.

{Ed025's Note - i share your concerns JA as im sure many do, its born out of frustration of what this club can achieve given its illustrious past and possible future, but we do need transparency from the top to bottom..

1.) 13 Aug 2015 12:35:57
Do other fans get treated any differently than our club treats us or is it because we care more or we are not playing very well and have more to moan about?
Does Levy, Ayre,Woodward or Deliah tell fans what we feel we should be told by our club?
Do they discuss transfers before they happen or what finances they have?
I think if our onfield performances improved 50% of our complaints would stop. COYB.

{Ed025's Note - more like 99% alan, a win at the weekend would do nicely though mate..

2.) 13 Aug 2015 13:45:22
To be fair he didn't say the squad needs strengthening IN 10 months he said FOR the 10 months ahead i.e the season ahead so the signing should be this window.

3.) 13 Aug 2015 20:21:32
very nicely put alan

With all the talk of the Utd squad being overhauled, has anyone given any thought to Kagawa? Apparently Van Gaal is unsure but I think he could be a fantastic addition to our squad.

JohnAnt

Where would he play? He would be a squad player here, same as at united, don't need him, although I won't deny his ability

I know this gets asked a lot, but does any know of a decent live feed for tonight's match?

JohnAnt

1.) Cricfree has loads of streams usually very good ones

2.) 25 Mar 2014 18:47:33
I use Wiziwig and Vipbox mate

3.) I am on wiziwig. picture is good just waiting for ads to finish but seems good to me

4.) John, we can't write sights like that on here. e.p. l. site. (dot). com

Please, for the love of God, Allah, The Buddha and Craig David can something, ANYTHING, happen?!

I'm losing the plot here. Personally I don't see Fer joining and am pretty confident that the "big signing from Spain" is utter nonsense and just need some small morsel to feed on to keep me from losing all hope.

PLEEEEAAASSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! {Ed025's Note - hang in there fella, only a couple of weeks now..

JohnAnt

1.) Cant see anything significant unless we get big money for screech. I won't be buying a season ticket till the club show some intent

2.) I buy mine no matter what but i'd like to see us steep up we just can't afford too, plain and simple

MikeDeBlue

3.) ^ go and support another team then! If you can afford a season ticket you should be there regardless of how the club is run!

4.) How pathetic is 'go and support another team then '. Seriously, get a life before it's too late.

5.) A true blue goes the match no matter what. {Ed025's Note - that depends where he lives mate, and his or her affordability..

Ed, I know what you mean, but it's worth remembering that we left it late to get people in last year which resulted in slow start to the season which effectively cost us a place in the CL.

JohnAnt

{Ed025's Note - i think lessons have been learned there JA, but its a very difficult window this mate what with the WC and late holidays..

Personally, I'm not buying it. I've not seen this reported anywhere other than The Mail (and then reposted on BBC Rumours with the Mail citation).

I'm not weighing in on the debate about which news outlets are, in general terms better than others, but when it comes specifically to football rumours the Mail is awful. Sites like footballtransferleague.co.uk (I'm sure there are others available, too) regularly analyse the accuracy of the sports pages and the Mail are consistently awful, particularly when it comes to teams such us ours whose fan base don't traditionally form a big part of their readership.

I'm not saying that I KNOW this story isn't true, just that it's going to be a very long summer if we get into a debate about every player someone links us with.

Just had a read of the original article in Het Nieuwsblad which states clearly that Everton are in prime position to sign Lukaku, largley due to his desire to stay at the club. However Suprs are also lurking. They cite the oh-so-reliable Daily Mail as being the source of the £20 million being touted

They then raise the perfectly reasonable question of, should Chelsea demand £20 million, would we be able to pay? Possibly not, and Spurs DO have more money than us.

I think there's a lot of bad journalism here, putting together scraps to make a story.

Lukaku himself has repeatedly talked about how happy he is at Everton and has also talked about his desire to play CL football and I think we can all agree that's likelier to happen with us than it is at Spurs.

I say ignore all the pap spouted by dodgy journos and god-awful chairmen and just get behind the team for what could be the best end-of-season run-in in years.

COYB!

I assume this is because Gibbo often finds himself getting lonely in the treatment room. It's quite sweet really.

Your lack of ambition saddens me, AB - we should be going for both. Whilst we're at it, why aren't we looking at that little Argentine chap who likes to cut in from the wing (as back up for Kev, obviously)?

I agree that we're not yet at panic stations, but the 'still assessing what we've got' line is beginning to wear thin. There are, after all, a fair few teams who have new managers this year, all of whom have been active in the transfer market.

Also, whilst it's true that Ronnie has a track record of getting players late in the window, these normally follow a few very early signings.

We all know that there are deficiencies in the team that need to be addressed and time is definitely running out to create a settled and solid team - let's not forget that there's still a sizable chance that we'll lose Stones and/ or Lukaku.

I really am trying to remain calm (I know it might not sound it from this post) but have to admit that I've lost a lot of the optimism of a few weeks back.

I know it wouldn't be the most glamorous of appointments, but I reckon Eddie Howe would be a great option - he's clearly talented and gets his team playing simple but attractive football.

Svenny, he apparently said (not had a chance to watch it myself yet) that we were looking at three signings over the next TEN MONTHS. That's quite a lot of time he's looking to buy!

Evo, I completely agree that it's frustrating and I've had a few worries myself, but we do have to acknowledge how much money was used to pay down the various debts, and how much will continue to be until we redevelop or (more likely move).

Also when Rodwell left we got in Pienaar and Super Kev, and Remy was only available for £8.5m to a club playing in the CL.

Like I say, I'm not trying to argue with you and am finding it equally difficult reading the transfer news each day, I just think we have to be fair to the club as well.

JohnAnt

{Ed025's Note - well said johnant..
