Heard on twitter (I know, not the greatest source) that we are signing Varane on loan from Real Madrid? Is that true?

According to ssn, QPR are among one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in AS Saint-Étienne striker Mevlüt Erdinç (27) following his current run of form which has seen him score 3 goals in two Ligue 1 games this season and 11 goals from his last 11 games. He's supposedly available for as little as £7 million.

Any idea if we are one of the interested clubs Ed?

Are we looking at any goalkeepers in this transfer window Ed.?

nil satis nisi optimum

{Ed025's Note - not that i am aware of mate..

1.) We should tho!

Joel seems to be rubbish, and we need some secure backup if Tim gets injured or booked.

2.) Even agree but no any signal from bobby.

3.) We are looking at goalkeepers, from all leagues including the Conference, will we sign one? don't know!

Hi Ed, do you know of any interest from Everton in Feyenoord's Graziano Pelle (23 goals + 6 assists in 28 league appearances)?

Is there any interest being shown from Everton, or any other team for that matter, in Gary Medel? Would be a brilliant addition, great passer and gets stuck in.

nil satis nisi optimum

{Ed002's Note - Gary Medel will move with Valencia, Parma and Malaga interested.}

1.) He's stuck in, but his passing range is about 10 yards and he's not got the technique to cut it in the top half. Decent player, but not great.

2.) 31 May 2014 05:58:38
Ab, I've seen him hit 40 yard passes many times, against sunderland (2-2) he smashed a 60 yard pass straight to jordan mutch, he's neat, aggressive, doesn't back out and is very agile and has a quick burst of pace on him, can shoot with either foot and his reading of the game is quite good, plus he's just been relegated, I would take him

3.) Medel was a moyes target last season. and if I'm not mistaken he turned us down to join Cardiff. waa haaa haaa

Does anyone think that Lukaku could drop into Barkley's position behind the striker for the Chelsea game?

In my opinion, it could be a good tactical decision. Lukaku is at his best when he runs at the defense. due to his immense power, dribbling ability and speed. He'd be able to match Nemanja Matic's strength, who I think could really bully the likes of Naismith/Mirralas/McGeady out of the game. With Lukaku playing as CAM, we could put Naismith, Mirralas or even Eto'o up front to use their pace and movement to pull the centre backs out of position.

What are you're opinions? Good idea or not?

nil satis nisi optimum

1.) Ideally the number 10 role shop be a good passer, agile and technically gifted, I'd say there his weakest attributes specially that first touch at times

2.) Eto . pace? Haha am just jesting :)

3.) 29 Aug 2014 01:03:12
My team for chelsea. Howard, coleman, stones, distan, baines, besic, mccarthy, barry, mirallas, lukaku, pienaar. I'd play all 3 centre mids deep lying, but allow one of the three to venture forwards when in attack. Although costa is out, chelsea are still a formidable team and we are going to be on the back foot for a lot of the game. Counter attacking them with pace on the wings is going to be vital, as is lukaku's role up top to not only gather the ball and play others in, but act as the first line of defense stopping chelsea being able to play the ball out from the back. I'm hoping for a 1-0 victory with mirallas our goalscorer. As good as naismith has been this and last season, I think he could be wasted playing this game as he could struggle to make an impact as he has the last few games, where as the player brought in for him will not only provide extra cover infront of our defense, but could help going forwards. Besic to man mark fibreglass, barry to spray the ball between the wings as baines and coleman get forward and keep the chelsea wingers worried about defending rather than attacking. Drogba is likely to play so distan is the obvious choice to mark him leaving stones to sweep up and carry the ball out from our defense. That leaves oscar who I think would be a fairly simple job for our own superman jimmy mac to mark. Barry similarly to stones would be the over player sweeping, gathering up the loose ball and getting us on the attack.

4.) Great post Craig. I'd accept that formation and prediction. Spot on, but with Eto'o coming off the bench second half and scoring the winner.

5.) Id keep it as we are. Naismith is on form, so why drop him. If things aren't going right i'd put Lukaku on the right and bring Eto'o on through the middle

6.) Pienaar is out of the Chelski game, I think the team that started against Arsenal with either McAidey or Osman replacing Pienaar, Gibson to come on to the bench for 1 of them and Eto on to the bench for Astu as he can't play against his parent side. Would be very surprised if where to be anything different.

So lads, what happened against Arsenal? Couldn't watch the game. Did we fall apart, were they lucky, did they deserve to be back in the game?

Apparently Matija Natasic has been deemed surplus to requirements at Man City. Great young centre-back imo. Would anyone here take him?

nil satis nisi optimum

1.) 18 Aug 2014 15:34:17
On loan, with view to buy, deffo, will it happen? Nah

2.) I'd take him, but I doubt we have enough for what City will be asking for. At least £15 Mil I would have thought

3.) I'd take him on a free (not that I don't rate him) but I wouldn't go spend what funds we have on him, also he won't come to us I reckon juventus.

4.) 18 Aug 2014 17:05:44
Not sure about him but I am getting a little concerned about the defense. We seem to be vulnerable from corners/free kicks/lobs into the goal area and Jagielka and Distin do not appear to be able to cope with them. Teams are and will begin to realize this and put more pressure on them. From the little I have see of Alcaraz he is worse. Stones is one for the future and maybe Duffy but center-back is one area we need to start thinking about and building for the future.

5.) I honestly don't think Bobby fancies Duffy. It's a shame as the glimpses I've seen, he seems to be a decent player, certainly more so than Alcaraz. Jags' legs seemed to be like lead against LC.

6.) I think Stones and Distin should be paired against the arse. Jags clearly needs to improve his fitness.

{Ed025's Note - sounds like siamese twins that mate.. :)

7.) As long as at least one of them can tell their arse from their elbow, Ed!

Hey Ed, can I ask you, is George Green actually as good as he was made out to be when we first signed him?

Like recently you have the likes of Martin Odegaard starting games at 15 years old (albeit in a weaker league) and Hachim Mastour breaking into the AC Milan squad at 15 years old, who are arguably a better team than us (although not going on current form).

I've nothing against the lad, but at 17 or 18 years old Ross Barkley made his debut, which would have been earlier had he not broken his leg and Wayne Rooney made his debut at 16 years old. Many people were saying Green is as good as, if not better than Barkley and Rooney at that age, while Bradford City's head of football development Archie Christie said: 'This is one of the highest deals ever for a 15-year-old from a League Two club. But George is the best I've seen in his position at his age. He could become another Wayne Rooney or Paul Gascoigne.' after we signed him.

Has he just not developed as quickly as was hoped/expected or was he very overhyped when we signed him?

{Ed025's Note - he is a very precocious talent NSNO, and is blessed with amazing talent but he seems to have stalled at the moment, he seems to me to be very much like jack wilshire, in that he possesses all the ability but does not produce the goods on a regular basis, and like jack and numerous others before him, he needs to get his act together sharpish or he will become another billy kenny mate..

1.) Thanks for the reply Ed. One more question, is he going to be part of the senior squad this season or is he most likely going out on loan?

{Ed025's Note - imo he will stay where he is mate..

2.) I've seen this kid quite a bit in youth games and yes has so much ability don't think that cause he has not made is debut like Rooney did at 16 and barkley would of done also if it was not for his injury, there are major differences which has nothing to do with ability Green is not as big as those 2 were at that age development of physical body plays huge part green has been plagued by injuries for chunks of his development which has set him back but expect him to stay in u21s for first part of season but also expect him to breakthrough by going out on loan towards end of season. He is going to be the next big thing of the production line

3.) 08 Aug 2014 17:18:19
Hes had a few niggling injuries and doesn't yet have a proper position, I think that's why he hasn't made the team thus far

4.) Ok, thanks guys. Was just wondering why he didn't seem to be getting a chance when he is so highly rated. Can't wait to watch him play, which hopefully does happen this season.

08 Aug 2014 00:52:21
Would anyone think Hatem Ben Arfa would be a good signing?

Not wanted at Newcastle and could be available for a reasonable price or even as a loan signing to strengthen the squad. Can produce moments of magic e.g. his goal vs. Blackburn, F.A. Cup 7th January 2012 and his goal vs. Bolton 9th April 2012.

1.) 08 Aug 2014 01:54:42
No tar, lazy, injury prone, overrated and overweight, too selfish, attitude on the pitch stinks, will lose the ball all the time and doesn't bother trying to win it back, players like ross are struggling with timing as to when to release the ball, last thing he needs is someone like ben arfa alongside him, doesn't fight for the shirt and when he doesn't play he throws a tantrum and causes all sorts of problems, doesn't bother to keep himself fit, its all well and good trying to beat the whole team but it works maybe 3 times a season, all of which he will go one on one and miss, keep him away from this club, so, the following statement may shock and amaze you but its a no from me

2.) 08 Aug 2014 03:23:03
Seriously u cannot b serious brilliant for five mins of every game bad attitude

3.) I don't always agree with Swan, but on this one he is absolutely spot on. Would be a big distraction to our younger players.

4.) Two seasons ago I'd have said yes but after the season he's just had, then it's now a definite no no. His attitude is poor, he's only half fit and I believe he could be an unsettling influence in the changing room and on the training ground. Plus where would he fit in?

That's an interesting rumour. Harry Redknapp has said how he needs recruitments for central midfield as they only have four for that position.

They've also been recently linked with Mevlüt Erdinç and Redknapp has said that Remy would only leave for a top 7 club. Probably just putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 though. Would be a tremendous deal for us if it ever did happen.

That's a good shout dentielad, he's a prolific goal scorer and has done it consistently for Huddersfield Town (73 goals 124 games) and Blackburn Rovers (51 goals 92 games). He can provide plenty on back-up for Lukaku imo. He's also 9 years younger than Samuel Eto'o and won't be demanding extortionate wages.

Unless you have a spare £40 million in your back pocket, I don't think we'll be getting Cuadrado any time soon.

Wouldn't mind seeing us go for Loic Remy. He can play in Barkley's position plus he can be used on the wings or up front. He'd give us another option if Lukaku gets injured/loses form too as he's proven to be a fairly prolific striker.
