McAleny gone to Wigan on loan. Is Bobby loaning out all of our 'Mc's' in this window?!

1.) 01 Feb 2016 22:38:48
Aye let's hope so, be good to get McCarthy out for someone who can pass the ball.

2.) 01 Feb 2016 22:53:32
We need a replacement for back pass Barry not mc Carthy.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 23:35:39
Long term yes, we have Besic for Barry. No need to replace McCarthy, just pluck any midfielder who runs a lot and you can replace McCarthy, don't need to have much ability on the ball, in fact, most goalkeepers have more ability on the ball than McCarthy.

4.) 02 Feb 2016 00:17:37
Looks like now that McGeady is gone your number one target for exaggerated comments is McCarthy.

Whenever McCarthy is playing in a consistent amount of games Everton go on a good run. Coincidence? Maybe, be interesting to see when he gets back if the team improves. Imho his movement off the ball makes Everton more solid. Doesn't necessarily have to have the ball to benefit the team.

5.) 02 Feb 2016 00:46:26
Dear Swan. How on earth can you slate Barkley and McCarthy? 2 of our most important players in my opinion! Next you'll be wanting rid of Lukaku or Deulofeu - "Oooh we've been offered a bag of peanuts, i'll drive them there myself", - a familiar barb eh. Show some support for us for once will you!

6.) 02 Feb 2016 00:47:28
Not true, was in the team when at our worst last season. Name one thing I've said that's exaggerated about McGeady.

7.) 02 Feb 2016 02:02:20
He can play football.

8.) 02 Feb 2016 02:08:07
Haha Swan, that's good enough for me you don't even realise yourself that you've made plenty of exaggerated comments about McGeady. Not a good signing by any means but doesn't deserve the slagging he gets.

Wish him the best with SW. Hope he helps them push up the table.

9.) 02 Feb 2016 02:20:15
So last season was a bad season for McCarthy? Would love to see him having a good season then.

1,172 passes last season. Third highest in the premiership. Behind only Fabregasc and Matic I think. 85% pass completion and 72% of passes were forward passes. Won 60% of the tackles he was involved in.

Well if that's McCarthy having a bad season. Roll on to a good. Very good value at £13m imho.

10.) 02 Feb 2016 02:25:30
As do I NBTB, what exaggerated comments have I made? You have a chance here to take me to task and you don't want to. Explain what comments I've made that are exaggerated? Some on here think he's the worst player to ever wear the shirt, I won't go that far but he's up there. He's a dreadful dreadful player, what am I "exaggerating" on? What have I said about him that's simply untrue or exaggerated.

WorcesterEFC, never, Rom is a brilliant player who scores goals for fun, Geri is the same but with assists, he doesn't mess up his final ball every time he gets a chance and despite his build actually gets bullied LESS than Ross. McCarthy doesn't score, assist, win the ball or defend, he's basically Jack Rodwell, offers nothing on the pitch, he's a myth. Ross, I've gone on about him all the time, he doesn't seem to be improving anything and hasn't in 3 seasons. Geri and Rom have improved so much in the last 3 MONTHS.

11.) 02 Feb 2016 02:49:48
My bad actually 1,178 passes last season. All other stats correct and that was only in 28 games!

12.) 02 Feb 2016 03:52:18
Goal assists record?

13.) 02 Feb 2016 06:20:42
Assists? Are you mad? He's a cdm! I think your losing it swan!

14.) 02 Feb 2016 07:24:58
Nothing wrong with McArthy, you need to watch the guy week in week out. He and Besic are the future partnership away from home at home though I would just play Besic. Incidentally with the new guy I would love to see us go back to 4 4 2, looks an excellent replacement for Naismith and Kone but let's see how he adapts.

15.) 02 Feb 2016 07:55:10
After reading a few different post and the replies, I think it's safe to say Swan was on the ale last night. In Jimmy Mac, we have his new target to talk nonsense about. Don't let stats cloud your biased opinion eh :)

16.) 02 Feb 2016 08:01:57
Wow not just what's wrong with our club but football in general. Get behind your players for a start. Every team needs a player like McCarthy, I remember carsley you'd think for 70 mins what has he done all game he'd get subbed and the teams shape would go, players like this are the unsung heroes of any team and you can't name a quality side without a player like this but those who don't understand never will not everything has to be street football and look like champagne football sometimes the simple possession pass to the player who can is the best option maybe he knows he can't so cleverly gives to who can gets back to position and tells players when to go and when to come back? Nah your right he's crap.

17.) 02 Feb 2016 09:44:34
Swan, McCarthy may not be the best passer of the ball or be the best at getting assists and as you quite rightly state you could replace McCarthy with anyone that will run forever closing down the opposition and breaking up their attacks. When you find someone as good as McCarthy at doing that then let RM know i'm sure he will want to sign him. IMO having either McCarthy or Besic on the park really helps our defence out with the way they both close down the oposition. having both on the park at the same time would be very useful IMO.

18.) 02 Feb 2016 12:10:06
Sorry lads, had to get away from Jim White last night, don't rate McCarthy but I pulled this out of nowhere to have a go, need to put a passcode on my account or something to stop me going on here when I've had too much stella.

19.) 02 Feb 2016 12:11:40
Third highest passes in the premiership last season with an 85% pass completion! Are some people nuts then saying he can't pass the ball? That was in 28 games. What do people expect? 60% rate in winning tackles and you say he can't tackle Swan.

Usual from you, once you make a decision about someone no matter what your right. As for pointing out what you said that was exaggerated about McGeady. Do you seriously think I have nothing better to be doing than going back and checking exactly what you said about McGeady.

You said plenty that was exaggerated about him. I didn't write it down and am not going looking for exactly what you said.

I'm not the only who said McCarthy is your new player to pick on. I wonder is it because they are both Irish? I kinda see where your coming from with some of your comments about McGeady but McCarthy? As someone said you were on the ale last night.

Sadly I know you weren't and its your honest opinion.

20.) 02 Feb 2016 13:11:55
So it's not true I made exaggerated comments then, you "not being bothered" means it didn't happen. Did have a few to drink last night and this wasn't the right time or post to mention McCarthy but yeah this is my honest opinion on him.

I love how it's a "new player to pick on" despite you yourself saying it's my honest opinion on him, this indicates I've "picked on him" before McGeady went. Howard, Baines, Stones, Coleman, McCarthy, McGeady, Kone and Ross, which one is the one I pick on? Or is it just I happen to see them as not all very good, in fact none are very good, or is it I have personal vendetta against all of them, no I will go with the former.

Neither McGeady or McCarthy are Irish mate.

21.) 02 Feb 2016 15:17:44
Whatever you say Swan. Never said I wasn't bothered. Your a master at twisting things on here Swan. Regular thing I see people say when posting a reply to you. As I said Swan its not that 'i'm not bothered' to check what you said.

It's totally that I have far better and more important things to be doing with my time. What's the story? Do you think I've nothing better to be doing than on here all day every day and to check back on your comments? I'm happy in myself and don't have to prove myself to you Swan.

Your a master as twisting things. actually, no, your a master at only seeing and reading things whatever comes into your head first. Example, me say that I have better things to be doing than looking up your previous comments. Your take on it 'i couldn't be bothered'.

Some people see that as twisting things. You being lazy and only coming to your assumption is what I'd call it. There's a lot more to this site than just your take on things Swan.

As I said before everyone is entitled to their opinion here as that's what its all about. Don't see many totally jumping to their own conclusions though.

22.) 02 Feb 2016 15:47:06
Still got nothing on McGeady then mate, I'd say you're the one twisting things, proud you're happy with yourself not providing evidence for your point, I take that as you being lazy.

23.) 02 Feb 2016 15:52:49
McCarthy and McGeady are not Irish? Haha Swan, thank you for the laughs. Yes I know they were born in Scotland but who do they play for? Emmm, Ireland! So they are not Irish. Yea right, think both of them might have something to say about that.

Could of played for Scotland but no, they chose to play for Ireland because they are not Irish. Makes sense Swan.

24.) 02 Feb 2016 16:16:45
Yea right Swan. As I said I haven't time to go looking for your comments so its just not going to happen. Yea I'm lazy doing other stuff as I have a life outside this website.

Have a nice day Swan.

25.) 02 Feb 2016 16:17:38
Nb don't let him wind you up lad he's on here everyday looking for someone to wind up its easy to fall for it but it's also easy to tear him apart my best advice for anyone on here is never ever respond to anything he ever says I'm sure he will get board troll another site it plainly obvious he leads a sad lonely life we can all see its sh&@e what he's saying mate.

26.) 02 Feb 2016 16:25:46
Thank you Blueliam. I know exactly what your saying. Think I'm going to have a mini break from here. Just for a couple of hours anyway. I really enjoy this site but it takes up too much of my time as it is.

The Mrs does be nagging me about being on it the whole time. Don't know who is worse. Her or Swan? 😃.

27.) 02 Feb 2016 17:14:10
NBTB Mcgeady does deserve the slagging he gets only because, in one word he's crap. Case closed.

28.) 02 Feb 2016 18:43:54
Jimmy mc doesn't tho.

29.) 02 Feb 2016 18:46:56
Yea right jimmy c.

30.) 04 Feb 2016 20:09:23
Lol all rubbish swan :)

28 Sep 2015 22:56:51
Great result tonight after a worrying start, but it wouldn't be Everton without 80% squeaky bum time. Fair play to Martinez - good substitutions at an ideal time. Nice to see Gibbo back after his recent trials and tribulations. And Kone just keeps surprising. Best thing for me though is how good our depth of defence is.

Galloway looks like Baines and Garbutt coming back might cause a massive headache for Bobby. Browning is decent on the right and a strong, tough lad. Funes Mori looks pretty dependable, has adapted quickly and has a bit of courage about him. All are a million times better than Alcaraz, although so is a dead pigeon.

Could we have potentially the TWO strongest back fours in the PL? Time will tell, but I'm really excited for the derby and the rest of the season. Let's have it blues!

onlyhaveeyesforblue

1.) 30 Sep 2015 13:15:07
Not playing great and coming from 2 nil down and winning, is great, saying we have Baines, Stones and Coleman missing and to come back looks promising for our season ahead.

2.) 01 Oct 2015 09:57:58
Nice to have Kone and Naismith to rotate or change tactics. nobody was saying that at the start of the season. Lots of pluses but this is the quiet secret we have that makes the difference

26 Jul 2015 14:47:48
Stones valuation has gone up to £38 million now, according to the rumour rags! If it carries on like this he'll be worth more than Messi by August 31st!
In another steaming pile of bullpoop to sift through, Utd have apparently enquired and a deal may include any one (or even all, depending on which steaming pile you rummage in!) of four potential cast offs, including Johnny Evans, Tyler Blackett, Javier Hernández and Ashley Young.
Make of this what you will, but just remember to wash your hands afterwards!

onlyhaveeyesforblue

1.) 26 Jul 2015 15:16:32
Hernandez and Young I'd take as well as £35M if we have to sell.

2.) 26 Jul 2015 23:49:55
Id have hernandez all day long at are club he'd give us 15-20 goals a season

3.) 27 Jul 2015 09:08:34
Don't forget though that any transfer fee will paid in installments over 2 years and will include add ons.

The £35 million being quoted to Chelsea is £20 million over 2 years in 4 payments and £15 million in clauses

20 Jul 2015 17:35:18
Heard from a mate who is a hammers fan that they are very keen on Super Kev to replace Downing, but if they can't get him then 2nd choice is Aaron Lennon. Either way, if true either outcome is a pain in the @r$3 for us! Any idea on possible targets / replacements if Mirralas or even McCarthy decide to move on Ed?

onlyhaveeyesforblue

{Ed025's Note - spurs still want kev as well OHEFB, and a deal involving lennon is still a possibility...im not even considering a replacement for macca though mate..

26 Jun 2015 17:49:55
Reports that a bid from Spurs of £7 Million for Super Kev. I'm sure even Kev would be offended by such a derisory offer. I know Levi's a hard businessman, but that's a pathetic offer. How about £9M plus Lennon to start with?!

onlyhaveeyesforblue

1.) 26 Jun 2015 20:01:38
7 million for super kev got to be joking levy put Lennon at 9 million not surprised in the derisory offer from levy he has tried it before super kev goes which hope he doesn't we would miss his flair and really miss his goals if he dose then I wouldn't sell to premier league team

2.) 26 Jun 2015 20:28:44
Just take Lennon and get rid of that big headed fool at least Lennon wants to play for us.

3.) 27 Jun 2015 00:18:09
kev wants to play for us but when the muppet of a manager constantly takes you off every single game you start to get fed up

4.) 29 Jun 2015 00:23:35
@Woodsy, for all his faults I'd have to agree with RM subbing him in a lot of games. For me, Kev's stamina has always been in question. In my opinion, not all but the majority of his better games for us have been coming off the bench. The way he is treated by the current manager has been indicative of his Everton career, it was pretty much the same under Moyes. The lad has bags of talent but I feel he is a bit weak mentally

Looks like Mandanda is going to Palace. Hope this means we're after someone like Fraser Forster. Hennessey and the Northern Ireland keeper have been impressive in the Euros, too. Stekelenberg a decent choice as no 2 keeper if it happens. As long as it's not Hart and I'm not sure if Valdés would be a good fit. Always thought Begovic was a safe pair of hands.

Given that historically, new managers often bring trusted players with them to their new clubs (Moyes and Fellaini, Martinez and Alcatraz, Kone, McCarthy, Joel etc. - ok, not saying these are great examples! But you get the idea) , who of the Managerial candidates being touted would you like them to bring to the club if possible? Emery bringing Gameiro or Banega would be a good shout. De Boer could bring Malik? Doubt Pellegrini would be able to coax anyone from Citeh, but for the sake of Banter, Silva? Could also be players that they've enjoyed working with from other clubs, rather than most recent. Given the clear out that is surely about to happen, we are sure to start new signings with the new manager considering his former reliable players. Hope it's not a banter site faux pas to mention this before a new manager has signed - Just thought it might be a bit of fun! :)

onlyhaveeyesforblue

1.) 23 May 2016 14:15:25
Banega signed for inter milan.

14 May 2016 14:56:25
If Mr. Moshiri wants to follow a 'Director of Sport/ football' model, or whatever it's called, then what combinations of director / coach are in the realms of possibility? Egos aside, if they were convinced to work in partnership, who would make a winning combo? Moyes and De Boer? Royle and Eddie Howe? Wenger and Pulis?! Benitez and Ben and Jerry's?!

onlyhaveeyesforblue

1.) 14 May 2016 15:20:25
Moyes won't work in that kind of relationship, he's old school, manager has to have total control.

14 May 2016 14:28:12
It's great to see the recent positivity on this site, it's been missing for too long. I'm quietly confident it will continue as I truly believe that Moshiri's final say on sacking our manager could well be looked back on as the start of his grand vision for the club.
Have to say, although I actually like Mourinho and would be understandably a top choice, this might sound controversial, but after his tenure at Chelsea, could be as risky as any other choice. I'd rather not replace a manager who so clearly lost the dressing room, with another who was released from his previous club for the same reason. For all we know, this could be the beginning of a decline for the special one and his controversial style may not rub well with the fans in reality. If Koeman is out of the running, then I'd happily take De Boer for the following reasons.
1. Ajax have a good defensive record and a winning mentality, driven by De Boer's hard but fair, encouraging attitude.
2. He's been loyal to his club for 6 years and a club like Everton need a manager willing to stay on and rebuild the club's identity and get us back to the reputation that we deserve.
3. He has a great reputation for bringing through young talent. Vertonghen, Eriksen and Alderweireld were all coached by De Boer.
4. If we truly are building something at the club, I'd rather have a manager that wants the job, rather than has to be talked into it. De Boer is interested because he knows he'd be a good fit and must have a fairly exciting idea of where he could take the club, since he's never really taken his focus away from Ajax before.
The wealth of managers mentioned at the moment makes for exciting times and the options potentially available are miles away from the limited choices the club had when Martinez was appointed. If we'd have had the option to appoint De Boer then, I bet most supporters would bite his hand off.

It seems that McGeady is having a decent spell at Sheffield Wednesday, nabbing a decent goal, some even regularly referring to him as the best player on the pitch. Their fans love him. They might actually want to keep him. If they buy him for any price at the end of the season, it will be a fantastic bit of business, although I'd be happy for them to pay in wonky veg and kit kats. In the meantime, In the event of his return, let's program his satnav to only direct him to a Greggs in Moscow, fill his finch farm parking space with inflatable Aaron Lennons and wedge the front door shut with the FA cup. :)

onlyhaveeyesforblue

{Ed025's Note - that made me smile mate.. :)

1.) 14 Mar 2016 21:06:20
Why do people love to target certain players for abuse? Right McGeady didn't do well at Everton but he's not near as bad as people make out.

Before Cleverly came to Everton there was stupid comments about packets of crisps as payment. I bet there's people saying to themselves where am I getting that from. People have short memories. Cleverly doesn't get stupid comments made about him now because he was always better than people made him out to be.

McGeady is doing good because he's getting a run of games and not getting abuse from his own supporters. If Sheffield Wednesday get promoted he'll be idealised by their fans.

Fair play to him and I hope he continues to be a part of their success this season. He'll even be playing in the Euros in the summer if he keeps it up.

{Ed025's Note - i have never been a fan myself NBTB but would never wish the guy ill fortune, a lot of whats said about players is in jest and part of the banter process but sometimes it will be taken too far, players have thick skins, though not as thick as their wallets mate.. :)

2.) 14 Mar 2016 21:36:31
Before anyone says anything I know its the championship and is not up to the same standard of the premiership bla, bla, bla. Could see them in premiership next season. I'd like to see them return to top flight.

2 Sheffield clubs. Would be good to see one of them back up.

3.) 14 Mar 2016 21:44:38
Just poking a bit of fun, NBTB. No offence intended. I wanted McGeady to be a good signing, but it just hasn't happened for him. I'm really not one to boo our own players, but I just couldn't get the image of 40 inflatable Lennons out of my head.

4.) 14 Mar 2016 21:33:53
I know Ed025, they get very well paid. They are all professional football players for a reason imho, simple, because they have a certain amount of talent.

Just because they have a bad run of form doesn't mean they are crap all of a sudden. Supporters turn on players, managers even chairmen far too quick. No patience now at all.

I think luck has a lot to do with how players get on. Especially after moving from another club and even more so when moved from another country. McGeady was unlucky at Everton more than anything imho.

I know not many will agree with that. I'm chuffed he's doing well at the moment. Long may it continue.

{Ed025's Note - its not aidens fault NBTB i think the move to us was too big a step for him, he will do ok at wednesday as that looks like his level, fans demand a lot from their players and evertonians are no exception, they want to see skill and passion and aiden failed to deliver on both counts i feel, hes not the most gifted and his tracking back was shall we say lacking which is unfortunate as he gave the ball away more than most..that is my view on things anyway, im sure others will have seen it different to me but in the end mate its all about opinions..

5.) 14 Mar 2016 22:06:35
You have a good sense of humour onlyhaveeyesforblue. I have to admit you did make me smile with that last comment.

6.) 14 Mar 2016 22:19:18
I know he appeared not good enough and it just didn't happen for him. His passion could definitely be questioned. His skill not as much imo.

I'm not saying he is or was world class. But he has skill. I think he was too inconsistent. He could win a game for a team. In a way kinda like Mirallas. Even though I think Mirallas has more skill.

In Ireland's first game in qualifiers for the euros McGeady scored twice. Ireland won 2 - 0. He won the game for them and got a brilliant start to their qualification campaign which they eventually got through.

He played in Russia for too long and against his will. He was in his prime out there and didn't even want to be playing out there. Its a pity but that's the way it goes.

It works out for some people and doesn't for others. I just feel he could of done better had he stayed in Britain rather than going to Russia against his will.

Anyway, hindsight is a wonderful thing. We can all be wise when hindsight is plain to see.

{Ed025's Note - its a very fine line NBTB, success and failure are not very far apart in football mate and sometimes its just plain luck..

7.) 14 Mar 2016 22:42:07
Too true Ed025, too true.

8.) 14 Mar 2016 23:58:24
He is not EPL class. I'm not sure he is doing so well either. He scored a goal but was also substituted at half time in his previous game. Kind of sums him up.

Hope Martinez doesn't suddenly get excited about Moses, if that is the case. He'd love to put his Wigan band back together! As for the others, Wes Brown is a clumsy card magnet, O'Shea is marginally better, but not inspiring at all and as for Evans, we'd be better off signing a tree stump with a face painted on it.

Great to be linked with them Pb, but could all be smoke and mirrors at the moment. RK most likely to recruit new 1st choice keeper next, hopefully Hennessey, if the rumours are true. Don't think we'd get Witsel, Mata and Schneiderlin, but to be honest out of those 3 I'd prefer Mata and if RK and Moshiri want him, then I'm sure he can be persuaded. I'd be happy with Pelle though, for the right price. Proper hard working CF, who holds the ball up really well. Very underrated in my opinion. Could be realistic target too, if Southampton, or Liverpool B team as they might be known in some circles, can be persuaded. Left winger a priority too. Who would you hope to get for that Pb? Grosicky looked promising, but didn't set Euros alight.

I do like Koeman as a manager, but I still have a tiny nagging disappointment that we had to head hunt him and coax him with money. I would have preferred someone who actually wanted the job in the first place, rather than had to be talked into it. That said, I think Koeman is better than De Boer. And certainly a step up from our previous manager. I do believe that Mr Moshiri has a very promising plan, though which must have been a factor in winning Koeman over.

I doubt Williams would leave Swansea. Not just because Wales are the new Brazil and this is going to raise the profile of the only Welsh team in the Premier League, but because the Swans are about to be taken over by an American consortium, so may be in a similar position to us and have a new project that their players will be interested in staying at the club for. Williams has had chances to move before and preferred to remain loyal to Swansea.

Brian's been a great servant and I wish more players had his attitude and enthusiasm, but since his return from injury, he's lost a lot of pace and is understandably a lot more cautious going into a tackle. Kind of reminds me of Arteta's decline after he came back from a long injury. Never what he once was. Sad to say that I think Brian may be moved on as we seem to be spoiled for choice with talented left backs. He has occasionally put in a decent emergency shift as a left midfielder, but it's more likely that that position will be filled by a much needed new signing for that position. I'll always regard him fondly for that goal against united, though.

At least looks like a grafter and both sides played over cautiously last night. Had good movement off the ball, didn't get a lot of service when he was quite often in a decent position. Plays with the ball very close to his feet, with deft control and has good pace, but didn't see him combine the two very often. Surely a bit better than McGeady, as he tracked back to defend well, but lacks the flair of Mirallas. To be honest, I think we need two Left Wingers, as we don't really have anyone that has convincingly filled that position, since peanuts. I'd take Grosiki for £8M though, if that is indeed the fee.
