we didn't play great and took a point from a team who are in good form at the moment but now we are 4 pl games unbeaten and I know we have only won 1 of those but we have also conceded just 1 goal in those games, our main problem for most of the season was conceding sloppy goals so 3 clean sheets in a row is something to build on in my opinion, with macca back in the team it gives us a huge boost in midfield, I don't think we will finish anywhere near europe this season but I do think we will get top 10 and hopefully clear out some of the ageing playing and bring in some suitable replacements in the summer. coyb!

rob2306

1.) It is not a question of clearing out ageing players but clearing out a manager is simply is not up to the job

palace (a), lpool (h), chelsea (a), leicester (h), arsenal (a), stoke (a), that's our next 6 games I honestly think we will get 4 points from those game, 1 away to palace and 3 at home to leicester, what do you think?

well at least last night wasnt a defeat and hopefully we start to pick up form now, it wasnt a great perferomance but a lot better than what we have seen since the southampton game, i'm hoping now to see a settles back 4 (coleman, jags, stones, baines) and if coleman isn't in for the fight then let him go and play browning there, osman can't return quick enough for me, I personally think we are a lot better with him in the team and mcarthy is a big miss too but no point rushing him back if he is not 100% or he will break down again. lukaku showed what potential he has last night with some good hold up play, strength, dribbling, pace and it was probably his best performance of the season, let's all stick together blues.

{Ed025's Note - good and fair post that rob..

1.) I agree Rob. Seamus has looked decidedly dodgy of late. If this is down to supposed interest from the Mancs which has turned his head, then bring in Browning who has already shown the potential to be more than an adequate replacement.

2.) I think Seamus is suffering from not having a recognised wideman in front of him with Mirralas being preferred on the left we need to get back to having two wingers or one and osman

3.) 07 Jan 2015 23:47:06
I agree with Quinny here, I think it is a bit unfair to single out one player when the entire team has been under performing for the majority of the season. Both our full backs have not been given the freedom they enjoyed last season by opposing teams this year, which has impacted on them being able to get to the by line. Couple that with playing others in RM who don't usually play in that position and I think that is the answer as to why. Let's hope every one of them starts to perform as from now.

4.) Rob2306, at last someone agrees with me about Osman. Did you see my posts earlier about how many games we have won or lost without him? We have only won 1 game when he has not played yet won 6 with him playing. And only lost 1 when he has played. I firmly believe players like Coleman can only make their overlapping runs when they have a good link player. We are suffering because lack of Osman and Pienaar.

{Ed025's Note - jeeeeze...get a room with ossie degsy.. :)

5.) 08 Jan 2015 12:08:45
Degsy, what you've posted about Osman I cannot disagree with mate. Stats don't lie. But I'm more concerned that we are pinning our recovery from this slump on him.

If that stat wasn't around then most wouldn't be all that bothered that he's out injured in the first place.

I'd like to see some fresh faces brought in, maybe an experienced keeper ala Nigel Martin who saved us a few years back when he came in in the January window. And a quick passing midfielder ala Arteta who also came in during the January window.

6.) I agree degs, plus he's a true blue, shows passion when others lack it.

7.) It is all to do with the change of tactics. Having wingers who want to run at full backs rather than play one twos with their full backs getting them overlapping. McGeady just does not do it. likewise, when we play Barkley, Eto or Naismith in that position, then there are no overlapping runs from the full back. It's the same on the left with no Pienaar. A different style of play. Perhaps we will see some improvements once RM has sorted it?

does anybody think yannick bolasie would improve us going forward? he looks very good from what I have seen of him.

He can no doubt beat a man, then slash a cross out for a throw in, he has one goal in the premier league, ever an something like 5 assists, in 2 seasons? Quite bad, but I suppose martinez would get the best out of him (remember that personic saying about every player ever? Oh yeah i'm bringing it back and reminding people, come on). But with the way we are playing he will probably drop him to holding midfield, play osman out wide, sign moses, play him as a striker and put lukaku left back, ouch #martinezout

i rekon we need about 22 points to be safe, can't see us getting anything away from home so our home form is key and games home games coming are

city
west brom
liverpool
leicester
newcastle
southampton
burnley
man united
sunderland
spurs

10 games at home with 30 points on offer, we must win at least 6 of those or we truly are doomed

Really understand a lot of posters concerns and the points return from the last 3 'on paper' easier fixtures but now is not the time to be forecasting /trying to calculate our end of season points return. Last season West Brom stayed up with 36 points. We have 18 games left with 54 points at stake - we currently have 21. We are only just past the half way point in the season. What is more important is that we support our team, stick with them and support them as good Evertonian's do.

I do think bobby is the man for us, I won't be one of those calling for him to be sacked, he just needs to have a more direct route when all the tippy tappy passing doesn't work, we have a great spine of a team, stones, macca, barkley and lukaku, all very good players and still very young with room to improve but barry needs to be dropped then have macca and besic cm, a winger in january is a must.

Think he's really worked hard the last few times we have seen him, he was great today and gave 100% effort against sunderland and stoke
