I've just read that we are interested in another defensive midfielder, Sergi Darder from Malaga. Surely not, who writes this stuff? But then again would you all be shocked if we were?

Sadly agree. It's the one position we really don't need to add more bodies too, but right now we should just continue to expect Martinez to do the complete opposite of what any sensible of competent manager would do.

2.) 11 Aug 2015 17:40:45
I'm sure that we're interested in lots of players in all positions - even those positions that we're already well covered in at present. Being interested doesn't necessarily mean actively negotiating a transfer - it means that we're looking at players as part of our scouting and recruitment activities. Part of those activities means that our scouts are seen attending matches or have conversations with agents, club representatives, other scouts, etc., and stories subsequently appear in the media. Just because a story is repeated and embellished by every media outlet doesn't mean it's cost to actually coming to fruition - although there is almost always a kernel of truth in it no matter how weak and inconclusive. I'm sure that our scouts know about and have scouted the next Messi or Ronaldo, but the likelihood that he'd come here (rather than a high-paying Champions League club) is very remote. I'm just thankful that we do manage to bring through an occasional gem at our academy - who delivers for us and/or brings in a massive transfer fee. So, on that last note and to recap my starting point: if Stones (or anyone) leaves, it'd have to be for a massive fee and I'm sure we'd have a list of replacements already scouted and evaluated.

Spanish newspaper AS reports that Deulofeu has a strong relationship with Martinez and is keen to extend his stay with Everton. They claim that a deal has been agreed in principle to see him remain on Merseyside.

I'm not the biggest fan of 'stepovers'as someone on here called him, but will be good to see him develop a bit more next season.

steverton

1.) I would love him to stay we will need big squad next season great to have him in it think he still has a lot to learn about the prem with mirallas out now we should c more of him next few games

2.) 24 Apr 2014 20:26:03
keeo him aslong as possible!

3.) This kid is the new messi in my opinion and I would love us to get him permanently. He is the type of new talent we should be signing. He's only had one season here and he's still a kid but I have never seen a foreign player come here at his age and play like that. Believe me blues we should break the bank for him because he is destined for the very top.

4.) It's not just step overs with him he can rip defences apart when he runs at them his final ball can be put into question at times but this kid is talent. Barca would not call him the next messi for nowt and in a couple of years I see him taking football by storm, let's enjoy while he is here! I have nothing but praise for the kid, as most of the Everton fans would agree.

5.) I would not worry about the step overs remember when Ronaldo first came to utd did them all the time but as he got more experienced he knew when and when not to do them, Del Boy is still young remember and it's his first real season of playing top flight football if we keep him for a second season that's a bonus as I thought he may go back the boy is going to become a big player but I don't see him getting much first team action at Barcelona for few years players in his positions are messi and neymar.

6.) It was me that called him stepovers.
I like the lad and think he has a great future, it just irritates me sometimes, when he uses his pace down the wing, gets one on one with the full back, then decides to do 12 stepovers, doesn't get past the man and ends up passing backwards.
I wish he would cross the ball first time, before the opposition defenders get chance to get back into position.

I know he doesn't do it everytime, but when he does I wanna scream

From the Mail,
Martinez claims Cleverley wasn't suited to the English game, and instead would have fitted in well in the Eredivisie or in La Liga.
Previously: Cleverley played under Roberto Martinez while on loan at Wigan.
If Cleverley does move to Goodison Park, he could fit in to the style of Everton's play, which has had success this term.
He said: 'I always said that, technically and tactically, Tom wasn't a normal player in this country - he could have easily fitted into the Dutch way of playing and also had the ability of the Spanish side.'
'He is a real example of someone who has the talent but just needs the platform and environment and direction to be allowed to express himself.'
See, he is just too god for United. IMWT?

steverton

1.) These quotes are what I want to see.

Clevs is coming. OMG, Clevs is coming. Yessss.

Get in there Roberto. If we get him for £8m - £15m it will be a total bargain.

{Ed025's Note - part of me wants to see us sign him mike, just to get your reaction mate.. :)

2.) Also get Jack Cork please, Bobby.

3.) Would Cork have a floating role in our midfield?
;-)

{Ed025's Note - if we gave him a bung sid.. :)

4.) 23 Apr 2014 13:48:24
stay away from cleverley please bobby and these other midfielders like de guzman, nzonzi and cork

5.) Surely Cork would play Stopper role!

{Ed025's Note - good stuff WB mate..

6.) He doesn't fit the English league and would be better in Holland. so we are going to sign him?
That's why we didn't win the league this season, I wasn't looking at the dutch league table, we must be top of that.

7.) I wish you'd all stop wine-ing about Cork.

{Ed025's Note

8.) 26 Apr 2014 12:39:48
Roberto knows Cleverly well from his Wigan days.
If you ever saw himplay for Wigan you'd know that RM got more out of him than Ferguson or Moyse ever did.Personally I rate the boy he's just at the wrong club.At the suggested £8m he's a snip.

While I was bored to death watching Arsenal try to pass the ball into L@$%^#$#@@$'s net the other night, I started thinking about the injury problems and if we were any worse off than any of the other teams in the division. At that moment there were 63 injured players throughout the league, 5 of those were from us so slightly above average there but by no means the worst. There were 6 other teams with 5 and 2 teams with 6 injuries. I also checked out the hamstring situation, there were 8 instances of this injury with one of them from EFC.
So I can't say that we have much more of an issue than anyone else and I question whether Pienaar, Gibson, Hibbert or Galloway would get into our first 11 anyway. But it does give us something else to moan about though.

I had always wondered how many players Chelsea had farmed out across Europe, then I read this in the Guardian."Juan Cuadrado, a £23.3m arrival from Fiorentina in January, has departed Stamford Bridge for Juventus on a season-long loan while Marko Marin has become the 26th player to leave Chelsea on a temporary deal this summer after moving to the Turkish club, Trabzonspor"
26 loaded out players?? Really?

steverton

{Ed025's Note - its a rip off steve and bang out of order imo..

Hi Ed's is there any reason why my post about injuries wasn't published?

steverton

{Ed007's Note - I can't see any post from you about injuries mate, it looks like it didn't arrive at our end.}

I'm sure Sid can enlighten us with the details but I'm sure there are some quite strict rules regarding work permits for non-EU players. Mori has 1 international cap. Surely this does not qualify. I seem to remember a similar story last year.

1.) 20 Aug 2015 17:18:09
It wouldn't be a surprise if he had Italian ancestry - as many Argentinians do - and could qualify for an Italian passport and be eligible to play in England under European Union rules.

2.) 20 Aug 2015 17:31:04
He has an Italian passport apparently.

3.) 20 Aug 2015 17:37:47
I bought the same thing up, can't see it happening I feel the newspapers are stringing us a line mate

let him make the same mistake as all the others. Chelsea have 26 players loaned out across Europe. Its like some kind or collection for an over-rich Russian oligarch. Take the money and stay in the real world. I am a proud evertonian, and nothing makes me prouder than the fact that we are a real club, run by real people with real fans. Amen

All those Kenwright haters take note. He is definitely not the worst in the league.

I would wet my panties laughing if we got Rodwell back for a few chips and a pickled egg if RM can get him to fulfill his potential. I know he has had a few injuries but I think I remember a certain liverpool captain who had the same problem in his younger years.

And that's why they invented punctuation, ;)
Yes we have to trust him, no other way now. Let's just hope he gets it right, this opportunity might not come round again.

I thought you were an editor not a filter, this is a banter page isn't it. I have to say I enjoy most of what you post here but sometimes you go a bit far. Deleting posts because you deem them to be inaccurate. really.

steverton

{Ed002's Note - I can delete whatever I wish. Football fans are lemming like and very easily led, there is no need to feed that with innacurate piffle.}
