Hi ed002, was just wondering where you think Bale will end up this summer? Would be a very Moshiri type of signing which I think we should avoid. Cheers mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - Cardiff are keen - else probably MLS.}

1.) 07 Jun 2022 18:29:14
I’ve heard a lot of chat about Cardiff. Let’s face it he doesn’t need the money.

2.) 07 Jun 2022 20:06:08
Can’t see Cardiff myself. His current wages are more than their whole squad! Also the championship is a very physical league so not sure he’d want lumps kicked out of him before the World Cup. MLS I reckon is where he ends up - seriously hope moshiri doesn’t go crazy and try and put a bid in.

3.) 07 Jun 2022 23:34:36
If reports are to be believed he will not be driven by wages. MLS makes sense, already mid season, can go and get fit without getting kicked about constantly and there’re lots of golf courses!

Hi ed002, hope you are well mate. I know it's very early but who do you see the board looking to appoint as the next manager? Or will we see Dunc take charge til the end of the season? Cheers.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - At this time there is no agrred replacement and no clear understanding of the way forward. I would expect Duncan Ferguson to take control of the games with whatever help he needs until the longer-term solution is resolved. Advice will continue to be taken and I really don't know what the solution will be. What I suspect is that folks of the following ilk will be considered - but it is for now speculation on my part and I have not spoken with any body. And you need to consider that with Brands gone the issue is much larger than simply replacing the coach - they need to look at the structure. Bring in a coach and the a Director of Football and then 12 months down the road is is happening again. Or do they trust the RB replacement like they trusted him - sort out the team, the coaching staff and the transfers - whilst "trusted advisors" have morning coffee with the owner in Monter Carlo? New Coach without my speaking to anyone:
Paulo Fonseca (C) Everton would need to work hard to convince him but it would be a coup if they could get him. History of not being a progressive club and struggles with coaches may make him think twice. Everton considered him when replacing Koeman. The best possible option if it can be done, and available immediately. If he is not first choice he should be.
Roberto Martinez (C) there will be some very strong support for Martinez but in all probability he won't be available until the end of 2022 when the World Cup is completed. If he departs early then Everton woulkd likely need to give a lengthy deal to him. To me, unlikely.
Nuno Espirito Santo (C) Available and cannot be discounted - I know someone who will be trying to push him to the front of the queue.
Frank Lampard (C) Attractive as he will bring academy players through, but I expect the fans would not make him welcome and that would make it too difficult for him to consider the job.
Kasper Hjulmand (C) Recommended to the owner by a "trusted advisor" to replace Marco Silva but advice was ignored - and has now shown with the Danish national side how good he is. Won't leave to join Everton as he won't be available until the end of 2022 when the World Cup is completed.
Lucien Favre (C) Rejected the chance to joining Crystal Palace and would likely do the same if Everton were to enquire. At his age he would not want a long-term project and is more likely going to be a stop gap where needed in the Bundesliga.
The wildcard options:
Niko Kovac (C) Could be approached but it seems very unlikely he would be interested. I could also see a huge clash of characters with someone at the club.
Wayne Rooney (C) Makes zero sense to me and those that will be advising will not want to simply placate the fans to have an ex-player step in.
Duncan Ferguson (C) An interim solution - would not provide a good medium or long-term solution.}

1.) 16 Jan 2022 19:38:56
The martinez train is gathering an awful lot of steam. Need a very good defensive coach along side him.

The Danish coach is highly regarded but very little chance until after World Cup.

2.) 16 Jan 2022 19:32:31
Thanks Ed fingers crossed for fonseca then but knowing Everton it could be a manager that’s least suited to our needs and probably cost a arm and a leg.

3.) 16 Jan 2022 20:37:35
Thanks for a good summary Ed, it is like a revolving door the Managers job, year after year same end product, I would prefer we went down a different rout and try something different, try Duncan Ferguson on a Month to Month basis, if results improve keep him there until the end of the season.

Rooney took his first job at Derby, with no experience in Management, but is doing a decent job, so why not give Ferguson time before pressing the panic button, and bringing yet another Manager in.

More Managers will be available in the Summer, we could then take time to access whether things have improved second half of the season before jumping straight in again now.

4.) 16 Jan 2022 20:46:35
Ed02 do you think there is any chance of David Moyes returning? With him having years with us maybe he feels unfinished business and like to come back. I know West Ham are in a better place than we are as a club and a team but maybe he has a bit of emotion to come back to a club he spent years at which he had some good memories.
How much has rafas sacking effected Everton’s FFP situation?

5.) 16 Jan 2022 21:27:10
STB, we may take a hit with rafa compo but it won't be as big a hit as if we went down, not that i think it would have happened.

Just like the last 6 times in 6 years, we need to get behind the new manager and support our club. but. the club need to make the right appointment, which they haven't since moyes came.

6.) 16 Jan 2022 20:17:22
That’s a great update ed002…more than we ever get from the club!
Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - It was very much a brain dump from earlier - I would need to start ringing around to try and refine it.}

7.) 16 Jan 2022 21:08:39
Ed002 any particular reason why you think Rooney would make zero sense and Ferguson would not provide a good medium or long term solution?

{Ed002's Note - Rooney has no experience or knowledge and would no more than pandering to fans. He is all but a half-wit. Ferguson works well and provides the link between the club and those arriving. He is motivated and will help out the team - but he is not an experienced tactician.}

8.) 16 Jan 2022 21:55:19
Fonseca, Martinez both 48 (I think) , either would do for me. Martinez been in the Prem, won FA Cup but took Wigan down. Fonseca Shatkar and Roma, did good stuff, didn't want Spurs *Levy*? Everton *Moshri* (advisors) ? . Think I would just tilt to Roberto!

9.) 16 Jan 2022 22:08:22
Bit harsh that, Ed, on rooney. He obviously has a very good football brain, if not a common sense one.

He'll do well in the management game, maybe not for us but only time will tell.

10.) 16 Jan 2022 21:46:56
Hi Ed, thanks for detailed response, any chance of Potter or Frank?

{Ed002's Note - Rignt now it is not something I can make guesses about - it is where I think the club are now.}

11.) 16 Jan 2022 22:21:34
Ferguson would work well with a director of football then would you think Ed?

Lampard wouldn’t be my choice as I don’t think he did enough at Chelsea to warrant the (massive) job at Everton. I think he’d be welcomed though if he was the choice of the board. I think he was always given a lot of respect from the terraces when he played against us because he was such a good player - and always scored against us!

{Ed002's Note - The problem is the structure - get a decent Director of Football and then sort it out. Else we have this discussion in a year or so}{

12.) 16 Jan 2022 23:38:04
Thought ed002 was quite restrained in defining Rooney as just a half wit to be honest geoff.

13.) 17 Jan 2022 01:08:39
Maybe in his private life DFS but he has certainly got an excellent football brain to do what he has done in the game.

14.) 17 Jan 2022 08:21:31
Please not Martinez, . ? . I recall the protests towards the end of his tenure as Everton manager. Nice guy but he just couldn't defend and seemed blind to what was happening on the pitch, everything was amazing in his eyes no matter how bad we were. For me it's big Dunc at least until they find the right guy (surely 8th time lucky)

15.) 16 Jan 2022 23:00:32
Question for Ed002 instead of who for manager who do you think would be good options for DOFs for us?

{Ed002's Note - Marcel Brands. It is difficult to see anyone decent being interested in the job.}

16.) 17 Jan 2022 10:54:55
Could you honestly see Brands coming back?

{Ed002's Note - Of course not.}

17.) 17 Jan 2022 12:01:17
the last 6 appointments were with managers who had reasonable CVs, that hasn't worked at all, our last 15 honours and i'm including charity shields have been won by ex players taking over, its in their blood, so what's another year after the last couple of decades.

18.) 17 Jan 2022 12:02:43
rather have rooney than go back to bobby brown shoes.

19.) 17 Jan 2022 19:43:58
We will have whichever no mark gets offered it, they will come for the compensation when they get binned.

20 Jul 2021 15:58:20
Hi ed002, was just wondering if you could provide an update on potential outgoings please? Clearly the club are in need once again to get rid of some high wages. Thanks mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - Everton have 10 players entering the last year of their contracts next summer in addition to these potential departures. The club needs to step up.
Robin Olsen (G) left as a Free Agent.
Jonas Lossl (G) Gone back to Midtjylland
Jonjoe Kenny (RB) Schalke wanted another loan but Everton have kept him and not used him - needs to move on with Burnley offering an option if they stay up as they have both RBs out of contract in the summer. His agent wants the club to make a quick decision and has been talking to other PL sides about him.
Yerry Mina (CB) May well be available at the right price. It will be difficult to find a buyer willing to pay a significant amount for him but Fiorentina may offer an option as they look for a Nikola Milenkovic replacement. If Inter were to lose Bastoni, and they are hoping they don't, they might look to him.
Jarrad Branthwaite (CB) Blackburn are keen on a loan
Mason Holgate (CB) Everton were open to offers to raise funds. It will now be a decision RB has to take.
Mo Besic (DM) Wasting his time in the U23s at Everton - left as a Free Agent.
James Rodriguez (AM) without going in to details, the agreement with Everton means options are being considered with his agent trying to squeeze him in at Milan or Napoli.
Yannick Bolasie (LW) Left as a Free Agent in the summer. Everton should have let him go cheaply to Middlesbrough rather than on loan after discussions over Everton interest in two Middlesbrough players. Has options in Greece, Turkey and at Reading.
Bernard (LW) Really needs to get to a side who can manage their squad well. Al Nasr will take him on a loan to buy deal.
Theo Walcott (RW) Out of contract.
Richarlison (F) His agent is offering him around and has spoken with Atletico Madrid, Milan and Fiorentina - no doubt amongst others. Real Madrid are open to the idea of taking him having lost out on another player. Everton may be open to selling at the right price but finding a buyer may prove difficult if the price is too high.
Moise Kean (S) Needs to move on as soon as possible - PSG or Juventus will offer options. PSG want a loan with an option to buy and that may be possible. His agent wants to try to find a way to have him return to Turin at some point.
Ellis Simms (S) Another loan is likely.
Josh King (S) Out of contract and his agents are looking at options in Germany and Turkey. Galatasaray see him as their preferred option over Christian Benteke. Aston Villa and Celtic offer options.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (S) with Everton in need of adding a strikers and others leaving the chances of DCL being sold unless a very significant offer arises are zip. Arsenal are looking for a striker but any interest they have will be at a far lower fee. The Real Madrid coach has said he is one of the rare English players who he thinks would take to football on the continent - so there may be interest. Other clubs looking for a striker such as Chelsea and Spurs have other preferred options. Manchester United may provide an option but might prefer to wait until next year when Cavani leaves.
Cenk Tosun (S) has permission to talk to other clubs but fitness will be an issue. Besiktas and CSKA may be open to a loan to buy. Interest of Crystal Palace has gone.

Hi ed002, hope you are well. Just wondering with Everton looking to sign a GK as competition for Pickford? Seen some reports of Romero, do we still hold interest in him? Also, as RW seems to be a target position for the club, who have we been looking at in that position? Thanks in advance.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - Sergio Romero (G) out of contract with an offer from Inter Miami on the table and offers from Juventus and Roma to be made - may look to stay in England but would not be a starter - but is seen as a low cost option for cover by Everton. Valencia spoke with his agent about a pre-contract but it went no further. Celta Vigo offer him an option as a starter. Not keen on a return to Argentina just yet although Boca are trying to persuade him.

There is nothing new on RW right now.}

Hi ed002, hope you are well. Was wondering what the plans are currently regarding the senior management as you have just mentioned. Does Moshiri want to give Benitez more time? Are the club actively looking to replace Brands? Thanks mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - The club has lost three senior football people that should be replaced. It is unclear what the plans are right now.}

1.) 13 Dec 2021 19:13:08
The clue is there in Ed002's answer toffeejoe. A ckear out of 'Football' people. That's just what a 'Football' Club wants isn't it. I don't have the answers but getting rid of football people as opposed to those that know nought can't be a good thing.

Hi Ed Silva said yesterday about potentially signing another player for the "middle zone". Was quite surprised considering I feel we are quite well stocked in this position, do you know of any players we would be interested in. Cheers mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what the "middle zone" is.}

1.) 04 Aug 2019 12:17:20
I think he was referring to CM.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anyone new - they wasted Marseille's time over an enquiry. Doucoure can play in CM - so it depends how the club might use Gbamin and it seems unnecessary given Delph and Gomes have been signed.}

2.) 04 Aug 2019 13:34:08
I’d find it odd if we brought in another CM before a RW and CB, considering we’ve already bought in Gomes, Delph and Gbamin. Hopefully just paper talk.

3.) 04 Aug 2019 15:36:07
Doucoure, Gbamin, Gomez and Delph. Silva wanted 2 players for every position.
Besic McCarthy and Schneiderlin to leave.

01 May 2019 17:51:34
Hi Ed, was reading some of the posts on other pages and seen you say on the Southampton page regarding Martyn Glover that Moshiri is taking advice from a third party which is a problem. Just wondering if you were able to offer some insight into that, does it relate to Kia Joorbichan? Thanks mate.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Kia.}

02 Feb 2019 18:47:44
I really don't know what to say, I'm all out of hope. On one hand, it's obvious that Silva is another manager not capable but then this constant cycle of sacking managers is destroying us at the same time. For me the players are as much of an embarrassment, 4 or 5 managers now and no heart or guts. It's a joke.

toffeejoe

1.) 02 Feb 2019 19:24:58
Maybe in hindsight we should have kept Martinez.

2.) 02 Feb 2019 20:10:45
I don't think we'd be any worse off and certainly could have had a too striker with the dosh we've blown on managers since.

3.) 02 Feb 2019 21:12:48
No, we would have got relegated. Martinez is an awful club Manager.

28 Oct 2018 13:18:28
Haven't posted on here in a while guys, hope everyone as well. Gutting news about Leicester yesterday, an owner who has done so much for their club and city, it's amazing to see how the whole football world comes together and I also wish Glenn Hoddle a speedy recovery in a very sad day yesterday.

Been quietly getting excited about the blues at the minute, I missed the palace game unfortunately but we showed quality getting the goals at the end and it sounded like the atmosphere was great. I am optimistic about today which is hasn't happened going to a top 6 club for a while. I just hope we play our game and I think that's Marco will do, be a great benchmark to see where are at.
It's going to be another Oviedo baby day I hope today, come on the blues 2-1 to the ev.

Great info as always. Do you know who we are interested in regarding CB. I know you said we enquirer about Llorente but not sure if we went any further with that and also anything to the links with Tomori? Cheers Ed.

toffeejoe

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Everton remain interested in Diego Llorente and Everton have enquired with Chelsea about taking Fikayo Tomori on loan which is odd given Everton has Matthew Pennington. Davide Biraschi interest seems tof have drifted away. A couple of sides are still looking at Djene but others, including Everton do not seem to see the value in him.}

Was about to post the same mate, there is definitely a player there. Get him alongside Tosun and they could form a clever partnership. Just needs a couple of goals to kick on, really hopes he's given a chance. You bring back in Gylif, Gueye, Walcott, Pickford and Richarlison and I think our tempo will increase and we'll start to play some decent stuff. That defence needs sorting though as soon as. Would love RLC too.
