rumblings of a swap between newcastle and everton for Tom Davies and Sean Longstaff.

wblue2

1.) 06 Aug 2021 11:02:10
Why bother?

2.) 06 Aug 2021 14:01:39
Why would you swap players that are of a very similar standard? The only people to benefit from that would be the agents and players as they both could ask for a wage increase. click bait 101.

14 Jul 2021 12:44:07
Denzel Dumfries inbound

could progress quickly over the weekend.

19 May 2021 13:13:03
Carlo now coming out and sending the message to any of his players, listen if you're not happy here then go.

wonder if anyone of the current crop are actively pushing for an exit?

wblue2

1.) 19 May 2021 15:20:38
Hopefully most of them.

2.) 19 May 2021 16:27:17
They might not be happy playing for the club. But I’m sure their bank balance puts a smile on their faces.
Let’s face it a lot of them wouldn’t earn what they get here if they moved.

18 Feb 2020 09:31:21
rumours floating about everton are looking to complete a deal for lille centre back gabriel dos santos, left footed brazilian centre back 22 years old.

wblue2

{Ed002's Note - Gabriel Magalhaes was the subject of several discussions between Lille and Arsenal - but he signed a new contract a couple of weeks ago.}

1.) 18 Feb 2020 11:15:24
cheers ed.

{Ed002's Note - Southampton and Everton have both sent scouts to watch the player.}

16 Dec 2019 14:42:27
Fabrizio Romano - Everton board have contacted Carlo Ancelotti. He’ll decide soon if accept or refuse this opportunity. Talks ongoing.

wblue2

1.) 16 Dec 2019 15:26:24
di marzio and the guardian now also reporting that talks have been held and another meeting will be planned to see if an agreement can be made, guardian saying first set of talks were positive.

2.) 16 Dec 2019 16:42:01
sky sports now reporting he's on merseyside, we couldnt, could we?

3.) 16 Dec 2019 16:50:08
Whoa, I'm chewing me fingers off here WBlue, the nails went about half an hour ago 🤤 😲.

4.) 16 Dec 2019 17:30:22
Don't believe it from press, but if local chip shop were reporting it might have some truth.

5.) 16 Dec 2019 18:02:12
Hes in Rome? Who needs Coronation street.

6.) 16 Dec 2019 18:08:12
''Hes in Rome'' OMG do you mean we are after the Pope?

7.) 16 Dec 2019 18:19:05
I would love to believe it, but given FMs ability to get a top manager is quite poor, I can't see it happening. I did read the other day that Ancelotti thought we were below his expectations, whatever that means! I have more confidence that the brexit deal will be passed on Friday.

8.) 16 Dec 2019 18:50:44
We are after the messiah Blue hopefully he doesn't turn out to be a naughty boy ;)

9.) 16 Dec 2019 18:59:56
Carlo been seen in more places today than 'Elvis' 🚴‍♂️.

10.) 16 Dec 2019 19:29:02
Think Ancelotti would be a great manager for us but just don't see it happening can see Dunc staying till end of season then we look for a manager then we will appoint a manager in summer.

rumours of Doucoure set to have a lengthy spell on the sideline, broken foot.

Just seen that hope its fake news ??.

not really EFC related

anyone heard anything on Villa stealing a march on everyone by going for Buendia quickly from Norwich? be a superb signing for them that.

22 Jan 2020 09:46:49
in regards to the subs, bernard and kean were absolutely knackered. The bench is thin and they were probably the best options to what needed doing (apart from maybe gordon instead of davies) its rough at the moment with squad depth. HOWEVER tha plyers out there should have been able to hold on to a 2-0 lead with 4 minutes to go lads come on? they should even worse be able to hold a goal lead for 30 seconds! keep the ball from kick off (delph fails to do so) leads to davies giving away a needless foul to let them pump it in the box. these are basics that every football fans knows, and these two have don't exactly what you shouldn't do, carlo getting stick for this is an absolute joke.

wblue2

1.) 22 Jan 2020 10:23:02
Totally agree wblue2.

2.) 22 Jan 2020 10:38:01
People on here will always look for any opportunity to moan whoever's the manager is. Davies is garbage and so is Pickford. As stated squad depth is dire at the minute.

3.) 22 Jan 2020 10:56:44
Pickford is quite the anomaly, he has these games where he pulls off a string of great saves and gets you something from the game (West Ham) , then has a mare. I’d say wait until after the euro’s, hopefully has a great tournament which increases his value and puts him in the shop window, then take stock.

4.) 22 Jan 2020 13:12:55
Can't believe that these professional footballers are knackered after 70 minutes. Roy Vernon smoked three packs of cigarettes a day and lasted 90 minutes, no substitutes in this days. The problem yesterday is that we went from an attacking mode into a defensive mode and once again it hurt us. How many times have we lost points in the final few minutes?

5.) 22 Jan 2020 19:28:33
Players from the 90s couldn't play now. Nothing to do with talent. GAZZA would never make a pro contract in this era. Athletes required. Our sick list is starting to really hurt us. Bernard subbed after 45 and 60 mins. He's being played to get fit because we're bear bones. He might last 90 mins next 2 games.

13 Jan 2020 09:55:02
hopefully carlo spends the rest of this season trialing and testing this squad to see who fits in best where and then in august when we start again the players have got their head round his methods and he has a few of his own players brought in (similar to what brendan rogers done last year came in mid season and pushed on the next)

wblue2

1.) 13 Jan 2020 11:59:09
I'd still like him to bring 2 or 3 players in this window. A RW, CM and CB.

2.) 13 Jan 2020 13:30:55
In and ideal world dentie yes, but as we all know options in jan are very tough, would you rather sign someone you're only half keen on in jan, or sign someone in the summer you are certain you want.

3.) 13 Jan 2020 15:59:59
Agree wblue, nothing to play for now. spend the rest of the season assessing what you have, and don't waste money in this window.

4.) 13 Jan 2020 16:19:28
disagree, especially with the run of next 3 fixtures i think 5-8th place is completely up for grabs if clubs want it! 6 points behind united with them going to anfield this sunday and still yet to come to goodison, all depends on if the team want to fight for a european place!

5.) 13 Jan 2020 17:38:31
Totally agree Wblue - 6th spot is still a possibility, loads to play for.
If we were to get European football with 6th (big if but still possible) we might be able to recruit even better in the summer with the lure of Thursday night football, admittedly not a big a draw as champions league but still a positive.
Plus it’d be good for the fans to hopefully have a few European games to attend.

So lots still to play for, and didn’t think I’d be saying this 4 weeks ago but here is a slim chance of a top 6 finish.

6.) 13 Jan 2020 17:38:39
Nothing to play for now?
I'd get teletext on when you get home and check the league table and maybe your maths. EVERYTHING to play for.

7.) 13 Jan 2020 17:43:24
Europe next season is still very much an option, so many clubs bunched together. I guess it will show which clubs and their players have the most desire and spirit to fight for it. I'm on the side of not buying in January, overpaying for clubs unwanted players is not going to help us really. Keep the pennies and buy smart in the summer i say.

8.) 13 Jan 2020 18:07:58
Trialing players - they have been playing week in week out. We are not 11th by chance.
No need a trial to tell me kean, Keane, Naisse, hollgate, schniderlin, Sigs, Walcott, Beni are not good enough.
Iwobi might also be in there soon enough.

Weather it’s Jan or summer we need better players.
3 in jan And 3 in summer.

9.) 13 Jan 2020 18:16:14
Take your blue glasses of boys, we are not that good, and bringing players in now won't work, I mean it hasn't in the past has it. We will do well to finish top ten based on what I have been watching. we have a very bloated squad, and the priority right now should be on sorting that out, not adding to it.

10.) 13 Jan 2020 18:19:59
Keep the money until summer, maybe a loan signing, but I would be happy if we managed to offload some players and then focus in the Summer with players coming in.

11.) 13 Jan 2020 18:37:51
Bit pessimistic that Brassington.
We’re currently 4 points off sixth place.
Carlo has managed 9pts from a possible 12.
Apart from Liverpool, Man City and Leicester the rest of the top half of the table appear to all be in disarray and struggling to string results together.
Arsenal - new manager needs to settle
spurs in transition and now lost kane to injury
Sheff Utd doing well but probably hit a bad patch at some point
Chelsea and Man Utd hit and miss.

Not blue tinted glasses just nice to have a bit of positivity for a change, less than 6 weeks ago we were all talking about relegation.

If we can keep up the momentum you never know we could get top 6.

Surely it’s better that we’re finally looking up in more ways than one!

12.) 13 Jan 2020 18:50:14
Agree Brass, bringing more players into an already bloated squad is not the answer. We are where we are for a reason. We are not very good.
As for trialing players, how many u23s have you seen this season sobs?

13.) 13 Jan 2020 18:54:34
I don't see why we should spend more in Jan unless for a special player. I believe the squad with regular rotation is capable of 6th to 8th place with luck. At the end of the season have a list of who is going and, after the euros, a list of players who we want. If players are told now they are at risk, then it is up to them to put themselves in the shop window for prospective employers. You don't get bought if you are not performing. We still need the squad to come round to Carlos style of football. You never know some might actually take to it and improve. That's my take on it anyway.

14.) 13 Jan 2020 20:25:11
Are we really up for writing off another year? I'd go get your heads checked out. Madness! 2 or 3 players are a must this window. And then we can have a proper popat a strong finish. If we manage to get in a euro spot, our summer transfer policy will be all the healthier to attract better players. 16 games left and 6 point gap and people are saying its all over and may as well sit on our hands until summer? Thankfully you don't run this club, unbelievable pessimism.

15.) 13 Jan 2020 20:45:38
Spot on toffeeapple1. The pessimism is unreal on here.

16.) 13 Jan 2020 20:55:38
The white flags are out with a third of the season left. Posters on this site never fail to impress me with their doom and gloom.

17.) 13 Jan 2020 22:27:35
Wow so some of you moan about the players giving up but look at some of your statements above! 🤦🏻‍♂️
We had 14 points from our first 15 games under Silva, we’ve gained 14 under 7 games with Dunc and now Ancelotti, is that not a reason to be optimistic? And that’s without adding any new faces!

18.) 13 Jan 2020 23:48:02
Go back twelve months and the messages on here would be a mirror image of now. Not agreeing with you guys doesn’t make me a pessimists rather a realist. We might be six points behind but it is highly unlikely that we will win all our games, while those above us lose all theirs. And don’t forget we are only seven points from the relegation zone.
Now I would love to be proved wrong, and would be more than happy to eat lots of humble pie. But I just can’t see it happening. Remember who be bought last January, hows that worked out?

19.) 14 Jan 2020 00:46:20
It's not pessimistic to advocate not signing players in Jan - the window where clubs mug off desperate clubs for hugely inflated prices. We can absolutely chase a Euro spot but not at the expense of more overpaid squad fillers who want a paycheck but don't put a shift in for us. Unless a real quality player is available then signing someone just for of it is a stupid move which will only impact what we can then spend in summer.

20.) 14 Jan 2020 08:12:24
I'm happy to leave it to CA and MB to decide whether and who we buy this month. I'd like to see a couple in to strengthen the team and to give us all a lift but if they don't see the right players then leave it until the summer
Obviously I want us to finish as high as we possibly can but I don't think it is the right time to add pressure onto the 2 of them. It feels like some of our supporters have more hot and cold mood swings than menopausal women - we're rubbish - no we should finish top 6
Don't write the season off but also don't get too optimistic. Let CA get to know the squad, let some of our injured return and let MB cull a few more of the non playing contingent and hopefully pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat
I'd absolutely love it if we finished in the European places but even if we don't I look forward to the future and a full season under CA next year
COYB NSNO.

21.) 14 Jan 2020 08:41:52
we're not that bad, we're a side adjusting to a new manager, who has still grinded out 3 wins out of four in the premier league, the only loss being the reigning champions away. above us is hit and miss and if you look at the fixture list for all the teams above us and ours, if we somehow manage to win all three (west ham (A) Newcastle (H) Watford (A) ) we'd e right in the mix and potentially sat between 5th-8th
why so doom and gloom we're 6 points behind united in fifth who still have to come to goodison and travel to anfield on sunday!

22.) 14 Jan 2020 09:36:42
It's in there nature we could win every game from now and someone would still moan.
We have a significant managerial appointment and my point above already proven.
Look at our 2 last January signings not confidence inspiring in buying this time of year.

23.) 14 Jan 2020 11:29:07
Palace are paying all of Tosuns wages and paid a £1 million loan fee, if we can get a few more deals out or off the pay roll it will go a long way to Putting us in good stead for the summer.

We have way too many on decent wages that are past their best and need shipping out.

A good transfer for me would be managing to ship players out.

24.) 14 Jan 2020 11:55:29
If CA wants specific players in Jan and we can get them then why not If we can't get exactly who he wants then why not look to the loan market. We have done quite well with loans over the last couple of seasons. For those guys that think six points may not be doable the way I look at it is if we beat all the teams above us then we will gain 3 of those six points straight away. Now if you then think 3 points is too much of a gap then I can't help with that. let's be positive and get behind the boys even it we don't think they should be there. COYB.

25.) 14 Jan 2020 19:29:19
We didn't buy anyone last January did we?
Don't expect anyone this january either. Let's get our injured players back and take it from there.

10 Jan 2020 13:55:32
Some brilliant news on a rather bleak 7 days, andre gomes set to return to finch farm on monday to begin individual training. hopefully still has a part to play before we finish!

wblue2

1.) 10 Jan 2020 20:55:44
Not bleak just media and a protest that every Club undergoes. Part of our Clubs fuzzy PR problem (Ed002 doesn't like that) combined with communication and executive responsibility is a vast field and one needing grasp. Our Club is not unique. Our fans need to accept/ understand the appointment of Brands and his skills (Ed002 astutely points out) . Fruition is long term. For me I am surprised at CA's acceptance of our offer but very pleased.

2.) 11 Jan 2020 08:23:30
I’d suggest any of the PR problems are historically rooted in fan behaviour. Think Big C’s post (above) about expectation is closely linked to this. The club could have dealt with things better on occasions but So could he fans. Think AC spoke well about the recent incidents in the press conference yesterday.

Great to hear Gomez is back in training. Time will tell how much the injury has affected his psyche. Let’s hope he can get back to the level we know he is capable of.

Let’s hope for a win against Brighton and a brace from Kean.

3.) 11 Jan 2020 10:10:06

Ed, more sensible for Financial reasons?

surely not sensible footballing reasons seeing as Dobbin is nowhere near the level.

wblue2

{Ed002's Note - Everton are in a terrible situation financially - they need to make use of the resources they have.}

why would you not worry about the cost involved?

{Ed002's Note - Because it is clear that the vast majority of football supporters do not understand the finances at all.}

Todd Cantwell - player available this window for £15-£20million
players contract does technically expire this summer, however Norwich have a years trigger option, if Cantwell is not sold this window Norwich will trigger that option and look to sell in the summer.

'jobs for the boys' is a terminology meant when employing someone when they probably aren't suited to the job role that they've picked up and got the role through previous affiliation with Everton Football Club.

the argument is there for Baines, agreed.
Prosser has success in this role at Wolves, just because you've worked with someone before doesn't class it as 'jobs for the boys'
Gareth Prosser;
Currently a general manager at Professional Game Academy AuditCo which conducts the independent auditing process for academies on behalf of the Premier League, EFL and FA, Prosser is highly regarded in the game.

He was involved in the Elite Player Performance Plan development at Wolves, resulting in their academy achieving Category One status in 2012 and retaining it four years later. At the time, Wolves were one of only six Category One academies to achieve an unconditional three-year licence.

Under Prosser and Thelwell's watch, Wolves were also at one stage ranked as the third-best academy in the country.
