Hi Ed, How much do you think we will have to spend in the summer?
If going by reports I think we might have around 40mil to spend and if so I would go for these players witch I think would give us a really good squad.
Barry - Free
Colback - free
Fernando - free
( any 2 of these to add depth )
Batshuayi - 7mil
martins indi - 8mil
Diego Costa - 15-20mil? Not sure on price
Finnbogason - 5mil
Deulofeu - Loan if aloud
and maybe one more loan from Barca
But I do think this could be a realistic transfer window and only my thoughts

1.) Was trying to think something of the like the other day, they said last year in the summer we would have a "significant" amount to spend. Say significant is 10-15M?
Working on this seasons spends and outlays we could attempt to work out a very very rough estimate of transfer budget next year
We have sold fellani for 27.5M, jelavic for 7.5M and anichebe for 6M= 41M
Spend this season McCarthy 13M, Kone 6M, Joel 1-2m?, Mcgeady 2M?, loan fees 7-8M? Not to forget maybe 6M for Martinez's compensation = 36-8M
Add the say 15M to the out goings, the apparent amount available = 56M take away expenses = 18M as I said though very very very very rough!
2.) Yes Clarkey, I posted an estimate a few months ago, and it was around abouts that sort of value. but as you say, a rough estimate.
3.) Costa has a buy out of around 35 mil and all the big spenders want him and he already on about 100k a week and fernado just got a new contract with buyout of 30 mil but rest i'd go for and lukaku or maybe muriel if he would be willing to come to us
4.) Ed are you really saying we will have 30 million without selling any players?

5.) Diego costa is beyond ridiculous. He's one of the best strikers in the world now. If he leaves, it'll be for the full £35m and to Chelsea, City, Barca etc. not us. We'll have about £15m to spend, too

Lets hope so, 6m for kone, joel 1m, mcgeady 500k, loan fees 2m, mccarthy 13m, stanek 350k =22.85m, fellaini 27.5m, vic 6m, jelavic 7.5m, bidwell under 200k?, total=41.2m, 41.2m-22.85m= 18.35m, apparently mccarthy was bought without fellaini money, if true, we will have (including stanek and mcgeady) 32.2m to spend plus added money from the fa cup and our league position, so hopefully about 36m to spend or maybe more, hope so!
7.) I believe it is very likely we have 30 mil to spend next year. The above posters math seems very accurate, but they forgot about the TV money for the past year. If we do have 30 mil to spend, I would love to see us buy:
Martins Indi- 5-7M
Batshuayi 8-10M
Barry- Free
And a couple of loans (Hopefully del boy and another striker)
Save the remaining money to be able to strengthen problem areas next January.
8.) Agree with christian but I would definately want us to sign an extra centre mid with a bit of pace and creativity as we can't rely on ossie and gibbo
9.) What reports say 40m?, no chance I think 14m will be stretching it.
10.) A lot of theses players that are in high demand will want decent wages, signing players these days is more about the dontract than the fee and poeple thinking bringing in 7 players on 70k wages need to think again, as long as we have fit players next yr il be happy

For me this season as been a bit disappointing but you can't have a good seanson all the time.
For me transfer wise I would go some thing like this.
Out.
Astu - loan return.
Lennon - loan return.
Distan - free.
Alcatras - free.
Pinner - 1 to 2mil.
Mcgready - 2 to 3mil.
Kone - 2 to 3mil.
Obaby - 4 to 6mil.
Total top end 14mil comming in.
Ins.
Hennen - 500k quoted.
Delboy - 8 to 10mil.
Nalito - 16mil buyout clause.
Van diki ( spellin from celtic) 8 to 10mil.
Austin - 8mil.
Garutt new contract
Mirallas new contract.
Plus some young ones to promoted to first team.
Total top end 46mil.
Take the 14mil off from sales
32mil net spend.
And we would have a great attack and a stronger defence with the van man guy.

Alcatras. 500k to a cham club
Barry. Who ever wants him for free.
Mirallas 15m. Been told spurs want him
Pinner. 1mil some where abroad.
Kone. 3m. A promoted team or champ team.
Mcgreedy 2m same as above.
Baines 18-20m. Make garbutt first choice with new 5 year contract.

I wouldn't want Atsu to be honest, I don't think he has shown enough to warrant a permanent contract. Maybe a cheeky bid for Deulofeu instead.

To be honest Ed025s any fee plus his wage demands wouldn't warrant us to buy him imo, he jut didn't do enough for me.Apart from the Arsenal cameo and goal at the emirates, every time I watched him he was a disapointment dare I say a lazy primadonna. Who hasn't pulled up any trees since returning to Barca and being sent out on loan to Sevilla I think

He is far from the finished article that is for sure Jimmy, in terms of potential I think he has more to offer than Atsu.

Atsu has been used sparingly as a winger by Martinez. He was player of the tournament in the African Cup when played in his proper position in the centre, another square peg in a round hole so he's not had a chance here.
{Ed025's Note - i think he can play on the wing rick, but as you say he was never really given a chance..

Agree with players out other than baines. We have missed the boat with getting a big fee for him so I would keep him and he still has a lot to offer us. wouldn't bring atsu in feel there is better out there. would like to get delefeu back, if lennon puts in more good performances keep him, however let's not get carried away by a couple of games. Ayew looks like he is on our radar aswel think he is out of contract. I think robles should play to the end of the season, 8 games to give him a chance to prove he is good enough, then decide if we need a keeper. I would also give a few of the young lads a go like browning ledson galoway, even if only for last 20 minutes or so, because feel we are safe now and we need to build for next season. Will also give the senior players a kick up the a##e to show that they need to up their performances. We still have good young players they just need a new manager to guide them.

Well said robbie and sean, i'd personally sell baines to anyone for any price in a heartbeat. he's not done anything since moyes' second to last season, he refuses to go forward, something bryan and luke do even without help. he's probably the worst one on one defender at the club, his set pieces are some of the worst in the league and dare I say it, he doesn't look the slightest bit arsed to me. Bet he wishes he did leave, I wish he did, he's slower, weaker, worse on the ball and shows less passion than either oviedo or garbutt, but again, the main point for me is in my opinion, he doesn't actually care.

for this to be the best window I have seen I would like maybe 2 or 3 more players

Get atsu in on loan and a striker, imo we don't need richards or milner, need fit defenders on good wage that can play, don't think we need an injury prone right back that will be on silly wages and hasn't played in two years, for milner we need wingers with pace who can beat a man and when he does, be able to cross it or cut inside, atsu, henen and traore will do me

I think we still need two top quality players who will really challenge for a first team slot, rather than just be squad players - attacking players with plenty of pace, who can win a game for us. Not sure who they are though! Pips
4.) We haven't got Henen yet. Nothing agreed with Anderlecht so far but ongoing. Taxi driver's quote about it is wrong as he had Galloway in the back of his taxi, not Henen.
5.) I've seen that pic it's most definitely not Galloway it's Hennen.

I wouldn't take any less than 50m for stones. If sterlin? Cost 49m then sure stones is worth 50m as its just important to have a great defence as well as a good attack

After seeing the papers saying 6mil good price.
When he signed I got told it was with a option to buy for 7m. And same with astu for 8m.
And mirallas I have been told will go to spurs for 15m and that will cover the cost of lennon and astu. And.leave us with our budget for a extra att mid and 2 CBs who will be pushing for a first team spot
