Ed02 tom Davies linked with Newcastle can you see him going this summer for his sake i think might be time to move on.

{Ed002's Note - Third choice for Newcastle - ironically behind Abdeoulaye Doucoure who Everton could consider. Everton have not been planning on his sale.}

I hope he stays the kid just needs consistency maybe a loan move he has played under 5 managers already at such a young age.

That’s a good point Brank’. I’ve been very impatient with Tom Davies and hadn’t stop to think that he’s had that many managers, albeit some were just temporary. Currently as it stands I don’t think he’s up to taking us forward but he’s young and clearly talented (Man City thrashing, the guy was MOTM) so maybe some time spent away with a club that will play him like Swansea who pass the ball well and have a manager who is likely to stay the season ahead. That may be just what he needs.

People forget he is still a kid, leon Osman never broke into the squad until he was 24, Davies is still 22, and won't reach his prime until he is mid to late 20s.

So let's give him a chance.

If we have to sell to buy would you take this deal?

I’ve been critical of Davies but think £12mil a little on the low side considering his age and 3 years left in contract.

However not convinced he’s going to step up, regardless of number of managers he gets pushed off the ball too easily and that’s something you can’t blame on managers he’s just not strong enough.

If his sale enables us to invest and money spent wisely I’d take the deal and wish him all the best.

Gets pushed off the ball because he Has to hold onto the ball too much, our midfield is static. He's good at drawing fouls so if we had a mobile midfield every push off the ball would be at speed and a foul.

Sorry Smitt I don’t get that argument. So because the rest of the midfield is static he has to be? If he’s any good he’d be making driving runs forward and supplying our forwards.

You can't keep using the "he's only a kid" line forever, he's got over 100 appearances now, besides 1 game against Man City nearly 4 years ago, he has at best been average, at worst simply not good enough, if anything he has gone backwards in terms of development, bottom line is we had a lot of injuries in midfield last season, he wasn't 1st choice for Silva, and he won't be for Ancelotti.

Thanks for reply ed02 didn't think he be there first choice.

My personal opinion is that we should not sell him yet. He has obvious potential and talent and we shouldn’t be selling players like that. Yes, you could argue that he isn’t showing signs of realising that potential and seems to be stagnating right now, but I’d give him at least another season under Ancelotti. At the end of the day, trust the people within the club to judge him as with Lookman - he looked to have it all, but the club have been proved right in letting him go.

Pierre if we have to sell to buy would you sell him this window or would you still want to hold on to him for a season?

Dont understand how anyone can still think tom davies is still worthy to play for everton the lads not good enough full stop. He has has is chances and not impressed at all looses the ball to many times and can't make simple 5 yard passes the lad needs to move on.

To be honest Dan, if it is a case of 'having' to sell before we buy, and the only offers on the table are for players like Tom Davies, then i'd say have to say yes. Obviously we could do with the luxury of moving players on that don't feature in CA's plans, but an immediate improvement is needed at the club and I feel that we may have to sacrifice some 'maybe' players for some with an instant quality upgrade should the only offers come in.

It is a frustrating situation to be in Pierre, would love to move on some of the players who have no future (Bolasie, Sandro, etc) but can’t see any of them going - they’d rather stay and get paid.
We may have to sacrifice the fringe players who may be of interest to other teams but were not quite ready to move on.

Lots on here wrote Holgate off 2 seasons ago and wanted him sold.
Just saying.

Too slow and always chasing the game. You can teach them football, make them stronger, but you can not make them faster. Premier league today is all about speed. IMO.

12mil for Tom Davies. Personally I think we should bite their hand off.

Have to say if it’s a case of sell to buy I’d let him go, he’s a saleable asset that I don’t think we’d miss compared to others.

Unfortunate for Tom he sadly lacks the pace of a top midfielder, whether he can improve this I am not sure but he’s not alone because Gomes, Siggurdsson are not better, he has great qualities going forward if he goes then good luck to him, it’s a shame as I feel for him in this current Everton midfield but there are around 5 or 6 I would rather see go before Tom.

Let's be honest 2 years ago Holgate never got anywhere near the chances that Davies has had.

I think you can say the same for all our midfield since Gueye left. Gomes and Davis both suffered. Hopefully Gbamin can get fit and get some form plus if we can get 20 games out of Delph, I genuinely think Davies, Gordon and alike will benefit and be given a proper chance. Too many playing with zero confidence and fear.
