Will cost a lot of money for a 29 year old. We have 2 good centre backs, an inconsistently incredible centre back and Holgate. If we are going to get another centre back to play alongside Godfrey I’d want someone a bit younger.

Swan come on 29 30 in summer same age as vvd age is just a number i'd have him tomorrow he is a machine he is the best around. saprised you would want someone younger when we have godfrey also he might play 3 at the back with wing backs.

Van Dijk would cost a lot more than Koulibaly and is a much better defender. Assuming he comes back from injury the same.

I’d like to have 2 good young centre backs instead of Godfrey and a guy who’d cost a lot of money, be on massive wages and we’d have to replace in 3 years

He’s a good centre back, not a world beater.

I think that will be the plan for next season, as is the trend for top teams at the moment. Also see them signing a replacement for Delph, Besic, Bolasie, Bernard, Tosin.

My picks for the summer would be break the Bank and go for;
Aaron, Koulibaly, Rabiot, Grealish, aand Mbappe (kidding)

I'm not saying I'm fussed either way if he comes or not but to say VVd is a better defender is bonkers.
Koulibaly has been one of the best in Europe for the last 5 or 6 years.
VVD has had 1-2 seasons as a world class defender. He may become better than Koulibaly in time but he needs to prove it consistently for a few more years yet.
