any of the eds know if there's any truth in the demarai grey links and also andros townsend just bit of a left field for a rumour thanks for the reply.

Andros Townsend (W) Out of contract and CP don't wish to extend the contract for the 30 year old. Will be tough to find a PL club.}

Demarai Grey is a good little player, on his day, but has struggled recently. Andros Townsend is a poor signing imo.

I don't get the ferocity of the opposition to this possible signing. It would be free and probably on very reasonable wages - he had more assists last season than Iwobi despite playing for a much worse side. Surely if we were to bring him in and sell Iwobi that would be excellent business?
It looks like we are finally paying for years of woeful decisions ffp wise - that is not Rafa Benitez fault so if we have hardly anything to spend what's he supposed to do!

I understand the logic behind what people are saying - he is free and will be on less wages than Bernard - but it doesn’t improve the squad. Grey is a bit different, but honestly, we should be doing better than Townsend. I’m sure he’s a solid pro and will graft, but I feel we are going backwards here.

If he’s not good enough for palace then not good enough for us. Gone back a couple of years with Arron Lennon. I get the fact that we need balance and factor FFP into it. If it’s a compromise I we make a marquee signing then I can accept it.

Don't get how it "doesn't improve the squad" when last season we had 2 GKs and an empty spot on the bench. it's not world beating 1st name on the teamsheet but it's a decent squad player who can do a job.

tbh Pierre, I like Bernard more than most seem to, but Townsend is probably a better, and he's definitely improving the depth.

I don't think we pay reasonable wages ToffeeDavey . Remember Sandro? We couldn't lose on him as he was a bargain . His £100k awesome wages proved us all very wrong .
