Isco and Jovic from Real Madrid being liked for the January window according to the echo.

{Ed002's Note - Isco (AM/LW) wants out but there is less interest from Inter, Manchester City and Juventus but interest remains with Sevilla - and staying in Spain suits the player. Milan and Bayern Munich offered options at the right price both appear to have stepped back although Milan scouts are still attending games. The player wants Sevilla but he would need to take a huge wage cut - Milan originally stepped back not because of the €20M transfer fee but they can't afford the €250k plus weekly wages. Real Madrid would like to strike a deal involving Isco for Romagnoli. Everton want a January loan. Juventus need to see how the next couple of months pan out before deciding.

Luka Jovic (S) there was the option to return to Eintract Frankfurt on a loan with an obligation to buy but it depended on selling Andre Silva and not replacing him - but they opted for the well thought of Rafael Borre. Milan have a sustained interest but have opted for a cheaper solution. Inter wanted to take him as cover but they have much preferred options. Was offered to West Ham but nothing came of it. A third party enquired on behalf of Arsenal but come the end of the summer window there was no space for him - could return for him as a Lacazette replacement, and that would not be a surprise.. Roma were offered him but the coach turned him Real Madrid will offer him in part exchange for others. Everton could be open to discussions but I am not aware of an approach just yet.}

I would have thought that the last thing that we would want is to pay another player 250k euros, just got rid of James, why get another costly player regardless of how good he may be?

Most fans would rather see the fees/ wages spread on a few players that strengthen the squad rather than one marquee player. Talk of Ramsay too - he’s on 400k a week! Young, fit, hungry players is the way forward.

I'd assume St Maximum will end up going in to a better team than Everton. Although I'd love him at Everton, we've got much much critical positions to fill.
