It’s mad how with all the changes at the club in terms of owners, manager and recruitment team that we’re still being linked with the same players.

You’d hope with all the changes at the club we’d see new players linked - imagine most of the links are just re-hashed stories by lazy journalists.

Some of the recent stories:

Dan James - apparently we have had a longterm interest in him - makes no sense when whole recruitment team is new.

Longstaff - linked a couple of years ago, no better than what we have - makes little sense.

Ndidi - offered him a deal when he was available on a free last year but he decided to re-sign for Leicester. Can’t see the club being happy to now pay £9m for a player we could have had for nothing even though would be a fairly decent addition.

Mitrovic - £38m! He’ll be 31 start of season and has spent 2 years in Saudi earning an obscene amount of money so has absolutely no incentive to return to premier league and perform.

Ndidi for £9 isn’t a bad deal. Given he turned us down before (first rumour is true) I don’t see him joining us.

Think you’re right Dan - a lot of recycled stories from past windows. Would like to see some new, more ambitious targets being linked but know we will likely get unexpected players in.

If you look closely we are in a group of teams mentioned whenever a player is “available”. It would be like me saying we are making an offer for Halrland, GB adds to that then posts. Then BR adds a bit more and posts, Dan sees it and adds his spin on it and on it goes. All of a sudden we’re buying Harland.
These people are not journalists anymore than you or I but people read there crap and believe it, don’t.
PS I wasn’t having a pop at GB, BR or Dan, just using them to make my point.

{Ed025's Note - i think hes very similar to Garner BB, so if we get him all well and good but thats on the proviso that the positions we really need strengthening are prioritized first, just my view of course mate..

Fickle fans at Newcastle Blues and Twos. When he came on the scene he was best thing since sliced bread in their eyes. Fuming at a possible 50 million move to man utd. One thing about everton is we get a player who's basic in everybody's eyes and the become good players for us. Phil Neville is a who springs to mind. Even Gareth Barry to some extent. Unwanted at City and becomes a key figure for us. Again it's a case of support who we sign and get behind them.

Fair point Woburn. You wonder when the last big story of us pursuing someone went through? Sigurdson? Richy? Most signings we get are announced just before signing.

Still - nice to be linked to players that could do a job for us.

I haven’t seen enough of him to make any judgement denti, I’m just hoping we sign hard working team players that Moyes can mould.
