A question for everyone especially the Eds. If Moshiri suddenly decided he'd made a mistake hiring Silva and wanted to replace him, who is or could possibly be available with a bit of pedigree who could come in and sort the mess out? Maybe no-one can do much more than Silva given what we have so it'd be a pointless move? But what if?

{Ed001's Note - available is a difficult one, but surely any manager who could organise the defence would be an improvement?}

If we change manager before the end of the season the only option will be Moyes.

Maybe no one could do more than Silva! I suggest doing more than nothing would be very easy. Try Benitez, although he would take some persuading and be reluctant till summer. Another would be Chris Hughton. Howe an Evertonian, would be a good choice as well but there is his North of Watford gap phobia. Any way as I commented earlier, I suspect that the Board are reluctant to admit a fourth failure (actually think it is a third, as Sam fulfilled his brief) , and will probably persevere into next Season.

{Ed001's Note - Howe is just another Silva. Hughton might be a good bet though. He can organise a defence and will try and play open football if the players are there to do so.}

Ed001, it’s zonal marking. What’s to organise? Hence why our goals against column will need widening very soon.

{Ed001's Note - there is a lot to organise. Zonal marking is not just about standing in a zone, it is about attacking the ball when it is near you, blocking off runners, covering your zone properly, calling help in for runners etc.}

A few choices there I see, though none really give me that hmm factor. The best of those mentioned I guess have to be Jose Moanhino and Rafa the Waiter.

Remember 2 of these defenders were struggling to defend man for man last season. Keanes issue is confidence, he looks brilliant when he's confident and awful when the heat is on.
I'm not sure how many goals Zouma conceded with Stoke but I'm guessing a fair few considering their fate.
The puzzling one for me is Siggy, he was always the one who stepped up at Swansea when they were looking doomed.
We may be terrible at set piece defending and poor at creating chances but we have the 7th best goal difference in the league.

Despite everything you always seem to find a little ray of sunshine for us to hang onto Smit so thanks for that.
