We need to get a bit of perspective of where we are and the expectations for the remainder of the season, plus what next season could hold.

We are currently going through a period where we have a lot of injuries. The big ones are in CM with Gbamin and Gomes out. We've also had Ricky out who has been one our top performers so far this season and Sig. Bernard has also only just come back after having a spell out injured.

We also failed to get that extra CB and the dramatic loss of form in Keane and Sig has seen us suffer this season. Also, Kean has and will take time to get use to the league as well as his team mates.

We lost Gana who was our most influential CM for the past couple of seasons and we struggled to find a way of making the best of the strikers we had at the club.

The shoots of recovery are there. 1 defeat in 9 league games against the Champions. Our young striker DCL now in double figures and looks dangerous every game now he is playing like how a CF should be playing. this has been the area we have been trying to fill since Lukaku left and we now look like filling it.

Lukaku scored 15 in his first season with us and in his second 10. Well DCL has reached the 10. I wouldn't be surprised if DCL got close to that 15 by the end of the season. If he gets to 16 he would be only the second Everton player to reach this since Kanchelskis in 96. Oh and he's still 22.

We now have a manager that I think we all believe in and get behind. We know this isn't his team and he will bring in his own players he needs to fit the tactics he wants to implement. At the moment he is building a team with someone else's tools.

BJU, I like your thinking and it’s refreshing to read a more positive / optimistic piece that isn’t littered with daydreams - well in 👍.

Brilliant piece BJU and well said, only thing I would add is the emergence of Holgate, still room to improve but I feel he’s grabbed his opportunity to showcase himself.

The thing i like about Holgate is he can play it out from the back but is also prepared to put the ball over the stand when he has to, and send the opoonent with it if need be.

Wasn't he more thought of at Barnsley than Stones? He's going to be very very good, maybe not a great but certainly a serious talent. I think he's great.
