Are the players doing what they are told to do by CA and play slow , passing the ball sideways and backwards , or are they just doing it themselves and not following orders week after week, then why hasn't CA dropped them . Didn't we have this type of terrible boring play with the last three or four managers we had, and now we have a top manager it's happening again, is it the managers or is something going on at the training ground CA has been here a year now and although it's still early days the last few performance's are not that of a top manager . what's going on?

That might be the case for sure Skylark
It could be the manager’s decision not to play with spirit tempo and desire to win, if that’s the case then we are wrong to accuse the players of lacking in fitness and desire to up the tempo and be more adventurous
When he was about to make the final substation when we went one down, I thought for one minute he was going to bring on another defender!

I thought it was pointless bringing DCL off for Tosun. He barely touched the ball through no fault of his own not sure how Tosun would change that.

Drop them for who?

Well sigs could be dropped for anyone, and gomes and Davis for one of the young ones we have players sat on the bench and in reserve that could and would do better. but if CA is telling them to play slow and pass sideways and have no fight, then they can't be dropped.

Carlos reputation inclines me to look elsewhere for the source of our problems. It’s a big ask to expect this squad to be able to keep clean sheets and score goals. Given the injuries too.

So our biggest issue a month or two ago was a defence that would concede 2 maybe 3 goals a game. I can see improvement there but at the cost of attacking football.

Time will tell if he can make the defence consistent whilst adding a bit of pace in the middle and on the wings.

That’s more money to spend yes, but it’s not his fault he inherited a motley crew of a squad like ours.

😂😂 what manager in any league tells their players to play slow, pass sideways and have no fight?

I believe that the way we are set up currently is suited to counter attacking when a team comes at us then we hit fast on the break.

Unfortunately the players that let us play quickly and open teams up have all been missing recently, yes we’ve done well against the so called big 6 but they come at us and allows us to play to our strengths .

We know Carlo likes to move the ball forward but Richarlison only came back from concussion, James has been injured for some weeks since the derby and absent when rest was the only option.

While solid at the back with 4 centre backs it has restricted the wide attacking options without Digne and Coleman. I think Sigurdson has looked to get more into the game and defended well but tends more to the centre and we’ve seen DCL going wider and whilst he may not have scored he won the penalty and it was his header that was deflected in for the goal so no problems there.

Factor in Allan is not pulling the strings and Gomes seems to be getting back to his true form in the recent cameos I think we are doing okay considering everything and that Carlo has only had 12 months comparing him to previous managers is pointless, the January window will see some coming in and hopefully some going and the team will be more of Carlos than the one he inherited, which by and large is what he’s been juggling with and getting good results we’re 15 points better off than where we where last year after this many games .

Just read this back and it does jump about a bit but you get the gist, keep the faith Carlo will get us there
UTFT.

I wouldn't have thought any manner would say it, so why keep picking the ones who do.

In the top 5 at new year and everyone pulling the team to bits.
How about just accepting we can't beat everyone, nobody can.
Beat Leicester, arsenal, sheff utd and Chelsea, lose to West ham.
29pts and 5th after 16 games, 4 points off the top. Let the manager and the players that have got us to this position have some credit and enjoy where we are.

Agree with that Smit, there will be losses slip ups etc, overall did anyone really expect us to be in the top 6 4 points from the top at this stage
Come on fellow blues, we are still a work in progress and building! COYB!

I know this is a banter site and everyone is entitled to their opinion but it's disappointing to see the manic depressives are back on the site as soon as we have one bad game. We are equal 3rd, just 4 points behind the leaders but some just can't wait to bad mouth the manager and the squad

It's not the losses it's the manner in which we loose and stop playing sigs and Davis.

As supporters we have every right to view our opinions on the performance of the team, good or bad. And our performances against West Ham and Man U were very poor. People keep saying we don’t have any option than to play the players who are constantly underperforming. Really?

Let’s take a look at Arsenal, rapidly going downhill but due to injuries the manager had to play some of the young players, and the drive and energy those players brought into the side look to have saved the manager his job.

We apparently have some of the best young players in the country, then why not play them. In reality what have we got to lose? We are currently in a position we’re our midfield is dragging the team down. We have players out wide who are clearly out of form, or are rumoured to be up for sale. Give the younger players a chance, because I’m fed up watching the same players hiding in games and contributing nothing.

Now if that’s being negative then fine. Tick me off as a negative supporter. I’ve only been watching them for the last fifty six years so what do I know.

Good to see some sensible and realistic posts. Some of the comments I have read have been embarrassing.
We all agree our last performance was lacklustre but every team has had moments and no team is running away with it and taking points of each other.
There has been reasons for this and Carlo will address them with the return of players, players fitness returning and confidence.
Our passing was sloppy and we had no cutting edge in the final third but credit to West Ham they defended the space and broke play up often to stop any momentum or possession for any length of time.
We missed Iwobi who is a player who will run at a defender, we have missed Digne especially with his width and DCL must be counting the days for his return.
A couple of times Coleman attempted to overlap Bernard lost possession which was poor.
I praised Davies the previous week but he was exposed during this game and it was a game we needed the control of Allan. Maybe Gbamin can help with this too.
Pickford didn’t do anything wrong our defence is looking solid and has depth at CB just need fullbacks sorted.
DCL is isolated without service.
Richarlison is lacking confidence at the moment and hopefully gets back to performance levels we know.
James will show his class again but understand he does expose us defensively so when we find Coleman’s replacement first and foremost he will need to be a solid RB defensively and if he can attack too will be a bonus.
Sell Tosun and bring in Costa and Ali in January. Sort fullbacks out in summer.

Agree with Skylark and Woburn. I don't expect us to win every game and if we play a better team and get outplayed, I can accept getting beat. But when we don't even attempt to win and continue to play the same players who have consistently failed, that's when I have a problem. And that's what we are all complaining about.
