Being realistic we are short of 2/ 3 players to be consistent challengers for top six places.
I understand in the present circumstances and with the players we need to find alternate clubs for, we need to be ultra careful in splashing the cash.
However, I have been disappointed at the performances of Gordon, despite only brief appearances and IMO he is miles behind Ademola Lookman in skill, pace, application and work rate who along with DCL was decried as not good enough by a lot of supporters., with Lookman being sold.
Tosun also hasn't got the pace to be a threat in the EPL and Ricky is having a poor season and without the support of Digne and James he is very ineffective.
Which leads me to suggest having loaned out young talent Simms we definitely need a striker on loan and maybe Zeekzee fits the bill, and if Bernard is off to pastures new we need competition for Ricky.
Leicester's Demarai Gray is a fast skilful winger who, similar to Lookman, is capable of driving at defenders pulling them out of position and creating space for forwards to exploit. He is being offered to Bayern Leverkusen for £1.8m, an absolute steal and at only 24 years old would be a perfect signing for us and offer us versatility on both wings, so Marcel get on your bike.
Although we need cover at RB Holgatevor Godfrey can cover until the summer when Max Aaron's or similar player can be sourced.
With the inconsistency of the EPL this season we have a chance for a top six finish unless we are short sighted and don't strengthen in this transfer window.
I still think we are one midfielder light when you consider Leicester had three midfielders on their bench last night who would walk into our first team.
Just an aside as I'm typing Ademola has just scored against Man Utd!

To be fair Lookman wasn't exactly mourned when he left us, and showed a distinct lack of application and work rate while with us. Maybe he has matured after his failed permanant transfer to Leipzig, but still think we did the right thing at the time.

Gordon I agree has disappointed when he's had the chance this season, and whilst he may feel he should have had more opportunities than he has had, he should still be chomping at the bit to impress when he does get a chance.

Lookman playing more centrally than he ever would for us but does look better than he did for us. aybe Fulham is his level.
Ricky is the backup for DCl and Tosun 3rd choice so no point loaning or buying a striker to warm the bench.
I like Gray and at that money would be a steal.

Smit
There seems to be a lapse in memory amongst the masses. For the record Lookman played four consecutive games for us, in all games he was rated man of the match, the last full game being the Millwall defeat in the cup and although it was a dismal team performance, Lookman was still our standout player but he never played a full ninety minutes again but came on for the last 20 minutes against Liverpool at Anfield, under Big Sam, and frightened the life out of their defenders by his skill and direct running taking them on.
He was never given a fair crack of the whip by Silva, Koeman or Big Sam.
Great pity.

Personally I would have lookman back. Can play centrally or on either wing. Would be great cover and an impact sub.

This is the same Gordon who set Tosun up with a superb pass for our first goal in the cup, that Gordon?
We are far too quick on here to jump on the back of our young players. You can not judge a player after a couple of games. I mean how long has it taken DCL, Iwobi, Keane. They were all written off as not good enough, yet now we have supporters praising them.
When you think of the opportunities the likes of Bernard, Siggy, and Gomes have had, and still not delivered. And dare I say it Richarlison, who in recent matches has been a ghost. But no easier to have a moan about one of our younger players who still hasn’t had a good run in the side yet.
As for Lookman, supporters have such short memories, showed flashes of talent but was not able to sustain it. That is why we got rid, and that is why he didn’t cut it in Europe, and I wouldn’t mind betting he won’t be at Fulham come the end of the season.

Its not that he is getting written off Woburn it's just that he is nowhere near ready for 1st team action.
Lookman was miles ahead of Gordon when he came to us and he has struggled in his career. He's had to take a step back and doesn't always get in the Fulham team.
Do we want the same to happen to Gordon by throwing him in too early.

I am with you Woburn. Lookman obviously had talent. But his attitude really was poor. He wanted to be in the team ahead of established players and as soon as he had played a few games was disruptive and making it clear he wanted to go somewhere else. So we allowed him his wish. No player should be forced to stay if they will become disruptive. And yes, our fickle supporters have written off many of our youngsters. before they are even regulars. DCL was called all sorts of things over the last few years. I was on here suggesting he be given time. same with Holgate. Both are still incredibly young with probably 10 years of their careers to come at the top. When Graeme Sharp arrived at Goodison it took him quite a while to adjust. Most center forwards and center halves do not mature until mid 20's. look at Jon Stones' recent performances. No doubt some will disagree with me. but Gordon is still a kid. but has a great attitude. Lookman is also still a kid. with probably more ability than Gordon. but I think EFC allowed the one with a bad attitude to go. which was quite correct.

Smit, what I want is our younger players to be given an opportunity when the chance is there. Still can't understand how you can say Gordon is not good enough based on what we have seen. Lookman miles ahead of him, really? The guy hasn't had to take a step back, he had no option. Won't be long before he's back at Charlton.

Hes had a few chances and he hasn't done anything over the coarse of a game to warrant starting ahead of the 1st teasers.

Smit666. he is 19. He isn't dry behind the ears. Give the kid a chance. His body isn't even grown up yet. C. A. has been "blooding" him for the future. I have only ever seen Rooney come in as a youngster and make an immediate impact at Goodison. He was built like a brick ***house at 16. Lookman is 23.Gordon 19. you cannot compare the 2.
