Watching the training videos and it sure looks like Benitez is putting them through their paces. They looked knackered at the end.
Plenty of instruction from Benitez and they look like they have learnt how to pass and move too.

Apparently his assistant is highly regarded in the sport for his fitness coaching, so hopefully we’ll see a big step up from last season.

Let’s hope that’s true lads our fitness levels were awful last season, hope the new coach is just what they need.

Always said there’s no excuse for not being the fittest team in the league. If Rafa can whip them into shape, we should be able to see off the weaker squads more often.

Apparently our fitness coaching last season was pretty much non existent and that’s coming from an U23 player training with the first team.

He also said it was pretty basic training nothing revolutionary and it didn’t really engage the players, CA gave individuals a lot of time and encouragement but didn’t focus on the team that much.

Should have probably probed a little more on the last bit but doesn’t sound like the type of training a premier league team should be doing when we are short on quality in certain areas.

Interesting Rafa seems like the polar opposite which can only be a good thing. Need more out of this squad none of them are going to become world class over night but all can give and extra 20/ 30 %.

Sure Ed002 mentioned something a while ago about Carlos training and how previous players didn’t find it worked and went to the local park to do their own training.

Think that’s one thing we can be sure if with Benitez and his team they’ll be fit.
