Time to wake up the quicker we and the club realise the likes of

Davies
Holgate
Gomes
Siggurdson
Delph
Kenny

Are not good enough yo get you to challenge for the top 6 simple as that. And the reason we are in this mess is no one will take these players off us not evan the lower teams they are that bad. I dread this season as i can just see it now rafa will take loads of the blame but the truth is these players are terrible and have no fight.

I'm not sure who that post is aimed at, I don't know anyone who isn't awake to the above statement.

The club knows, but as you say so does the rest of the footballing world so we are stuck with them.

However we can't afford a squad of world beaters so the likes of Davies/ Holgate are necessary as they earn much less than the rest and can at least fill a few positions in a pinch.

Agree with all of these apart from Davies, I still think there is a player there, and he always gives 100% effort . He may not be starter all the time but is a decent squad player and did well when Allan was injured last season . On a more pessimistic note I am really worried for this season . We badly need some decent signings to give us a boost . With no Richarlison and possibly no DCL to start the season things could turn toxic very quickly if we start poorly . Have never looked forward to the start of a season less, hopefully that will change this week.

On the upside I normally spend this time of year in a totally false state or confidence which at least won't be shattered this time.

I always remember dreading most seasons under Moyes actually. Pre seasons were generally littered with poor results, poor performances and a lot of the time signings that never got the pulse racing. We would then start the season terribly 9 times out of ten and it would be doom and gloom. Then everything would come good, so that is what I am hoping Rafa can bring to the table this season.

What we have lost most in the last few seasons is team spirit, maybe being in this ffp situation can be the catalyst to re build that, then put ffp behind us and kick on without making the same mistakes again.

Ed, honestly I agree. We may not have as many really good games but we also shouldn't have as many really bad games. I know a lot of people are feeling negative for the season but we do have some positives and we have some players that a lot of teams would love to have (digne, dcl, richy, Godfrey, maybe even keane who had a good season) . Outside of that you have Allen, decoure, mina, pickford who aren't bad players. Gray had started decent and townsend will give us a presence on the wing. I think it'll be a solid, if unremarkable season and I'll take that for now. Until this deadwood is gone, we will struggle but I think people assume this is so much easier than it is.

{Ed025's Note - something had to give cropper, the club has been in regression for a number of years now and im hoping this back to basics formula will give the club some perspective mate.
We have bought very poorly over a number of years now and its finally caught up with us, bring a few lesser lights in with big hearts and a work ethic and that would do for me, forget all these superstars on £200k a week for now and lets become a hard working hard to beat efficient unit who will make us proud, im not saying we wont have any flair because we still have some top players..

Sorry but i struggle to understand how you think tom still can come good. How long has he been with us how much time do you need to kick into gear the truth is he isn't good enough and never will be.

That’s the problem we have too many average to below average players time to get rid once and for all.
