I'll wait for the backlash here but I'll say it anyway.

Iwobi came on and kicked us on again. Assist and pre assist. he's had a decent summer, not great but decent and when he came on he played really well.

The first half lacked any kind of urgency but the second half was excellent. Loads of running, good combinations and tons of crosses today.

There's loads of attacking threat but it also looks like the players already here have a better understanding of their role.

So keep smiling blues, bring on Leeds!

He did. New Manager syndrome? Fans?

No backlash from me BJU. I agree. Iwobi was good today but has had enough bad days to remind me not to get too excited. To be fair though he deserves praise for good performances as much as criticism for bad ones. 3 gaols in the second half would usually win any match. So on that point we thoroughly deserved our win.

And three different scorers, that’s a big difference to last season let alone winning at home.

I’d be very happy if he became a good squad player. If Benitez can get him playing, he’ll be welcome.
Buzzing after the win today boys!

He is only ever going to be bit part player, he adds pace but sometimes looks like he doesn't actually know what he is going to do. Can't knock the effort but we will need more than that.
On another note Holgate is never going to be good enough at Centre Half.

Holgate needs time in the under 23s a lot of it.

Bobby🤣🤣love hat one mate.

Hey listen, ace is right it's one game. I'm hopeful though 1 can turn into 2 and so on. But then I hope that can be said for the rest of the squad.

Also that was Ricky's best performance I've seen in over 12 months. He looked happy and played superbly well. Also when he came off he took the handshake off the manager and even gave the manager a tap to say thanks as well instead of kicking off.

I don't want to say it's all Rafa because it makes me feel a little sick but so far so good.

{Ed0666's Note - come on fella you know it’s all Rafa!!! Give him the credit when he deserves it because we all know y’all gonna give him almighty hell when he starts losing a few.

BJU - I always liked the bits I saw of Iwobi at Arsenal and thought it was a good signing. After seeing more of him it’s pretty much written in stone. when he comes on or starts I roll my eyes but secretly hope he’s going to have a blinder just to prove us wrong. He starts running and then it all seems to go to pot and the ball could end up anywhere.

Bju
Why does it make you sick?
Because he managed liverpool?
Grow up boy.
Honestly its pathetic he manages us right now l
US EVERTON FC
and he wants to win.

Calm down calm down, I was saying It tongue in cheek. Listen I didn't want him and he was a manager I had little respect for when he was at Liverpool. Am i going to suddenly fall in love with him? Of course not but that doesn't matter to me. I only care about 3 points for the blues and I'd have anyone at the club who can do that for us. Even Steven Gerrard and he's at my other beloved club, Rangers.

To you Ed of course it was all Rafa😉. I think he's made huge strides already. We are pressing all over the pitch but with a plan rather than the headless chicken stuff of the past few years. And the big thing is, he's taken us back to what we do best, a team with wingers and width. Full of running and trying to drive forward, it was a pleasure to watch at Times today.

I think the thing that has surprised me and I'll hold my hands up, is that we haven't seen this defensive style of football most were expecting. Now its only one game against Southampton but we played looking for goals. I'm sure more football like this will get even more onside and forgiving his red past. And I might need less settlers tums. Only joking.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m telling you fella he’s gonna win hearts and minds. Let him add a few bodies and I’m sure he’ll keep you on the premiership 😂. No seriously mate I’m glad he’s got a blueprint because he’s the discipline you guys have needed for years. Those merseyside derbies this season a gonna watch a little spicy. Will it confuse you if we start singing Rafa’s name??? 😂

14 Aug 2021 22:55:54
It will Ed0066, if we go a goal up in the Derby and all 4 corners of the ground are chanting Rafa, s name.

{Ed0666's Note - thats some clockwork orange stuff there mate 😂

14 Aug 2021 23:46:34
It doesn't take much to confuse me ed.

Seriously though, I too hope we give him time. I don't like booing, didn't like it today at half time. The guy is a nice fella and people forget he's a human being.

Hand on heart though, I've never wanted anyone to fail at my club and I would give the same backing to any player or manager regardless of where they come from. Everyone can learn from past mistakes. 🤣.

Not harsh at all we call ourselves suooirtee well how about support us instead ov having a pop at us beforw a ball is kicked.
We are a great club us fans need to start supporting insteasmd of booing.

I really wasn't having a pop at Rafa, it was me trying to add a bit of humour to the post and taking the p. out of myself.

However, people are allowed to not like players or managers. I always think I'm a balanced person on my views. I always try and see the good as well as the bad and don't hold any grudges. I don't boo, ever and never have done at any game. Its counter productive. 100% support, every single game.

With Rafa I said before we got him, he might be the manager we need as he will give us stability and give the players routine. We might not set the world alight but what we need right now is a period of calm and continuity. Especially, during g the building of the new stadium.
