Rafa cannot just throw the kids in in case it destroys them. How many kids have we had that were the next big thing? Vaughan, cadamarteri, branch, Jeffers, Davies, batkley, Rodwell. hundreds and a lot have fell by the wayside because they were thrown in too fast too young.

Look at Gordon, was brought in and out then had a loan move and would be my 1st name on team sheet as best player so far (which appalling from senior players)

Fergie used to nurture young players in to the team .92 was an anomaly.

For me, rafa and hundreds of other managers across the game are scared to be sacked so they always pick the older players, experience they reckon so they will do better than throwing a kid in who may crumble.

I don't think sacking another manager is the way to go as we need stability and 1 style of playing even if we don't agree with it. but. surely even rafa got to realise rondon, iwobi and Keane are so out of form. He got to find other players to replace them.

If he plays other players and we still losing then he can tell the fans to f off but they won't keep quiet if iwobi doing great until final pass or shot or watching rondon get out muscled by a spring onion.

As I have said many times, we knew how hard this was going to be. We knew what ffp pressures were like and we knew how poor the squad was after last season. The soggy situation hasn't helped because even he would be better than iwobi in the 10 role cose he would have pace in gray and townsend.

Simms is not untried, he did well when on loan at Blackpool and is capable of scoring which Rondon obviously is not.

So how do we ever find out if these youngsters are good enough if we never actually play them?

Fed up of this no experience tosh that gets thrown about - if you’re not willing to play them then they’ll never get experience!

Well Barkley went to Chelsea. Jeffers to Arsenal. Roswell to Man City. So must have had something about them.
If the team were playing well then fine integrate them slowly. But their not. So time to see if all these plaudits Unsworth is giving them are actually true or not. If not then Unsy has been pulling a fast one to make it look like he’s doing a good job.

Geoffjohno, We could put the kids in for a few games. The supporters are going to crucify them for making the odd mistake. If by some miracle they prove their worth leave them in for a couple more games. Otherwise pull them out and rest them.
But if not given the chance we will never know and other clubs will pick them off when their contracts runs down. Otherwise we have to relay on Rondon + Iwobi as an attacking force, then we are screwed.

Geoff John’s, are you serious saying the managers are scared of the sack. It might dent their reputation but then they walk away with millions in compensation and get another posting within months. Joe Bloggs in the real world gets sacked and signs on the dole the following day. I think Joe Bloggs is more scared than a football manager.

League 1 is a world away from the Premier league.

Woburn. all 3 you mention left and failed miserably. More recent ones went to keep the home grown allocation in new club meeting rules.

Brian. of. course they are scared of being sacked. no one else likes to fail regardless of money they get.

Plenty of players from all clubs do well on loan but can't hack it in the Premier league.

We do need change and we can only use the kids as we have no money to buy but we need someone to process this integration in the right way. is rafa the right man? Carlo wasn't. can we afford to change again?

I don't know what the actual figures are but I would imagine that if we start with 200 kids entering into a football academy then most fall out and only a very small percentage - less than 5% - make it to full professional.

This does not take into account the thousands of us that dreamt of playing for England all through our childhood and even when we played as 'grown ups' in our work/ pub sides

I think everyone of us wants our U21 U23 sides to be successful but there is no magic wand. Kids develop differently and at different paces

I don't know what is the right way but From my experience I improved by actually taking part. I improved my pool game by playing better players and I approved my public speaking by actually going out and doing it (not by much if I'm honest but true never the less) Of course it helped having friends, colleagues and peers encouraging me but going out and doing it was the best way in my opinion

We have to protect and nurture our young players but we also have to give them the chance to spread their wings and fly

Corny isn't it.

Doesn’t matter if they failed. Fact is they were deemed good enough for those clubs to buy them. As I have said before I could understand his actions if the team were playing well but there not, and we clearly have players who are not performing. So yes now is the time to try the younger players.
I actually think the crowd would get right behind them as long as they have a go. Let’s face it they couldn’t do any worse.
