With the financial outlay being less than the so-called top six, that makes our league position, if directly correlated as 7th. 7th is our average position under Moyes (mainly) but crucially without the money burning pockets. Have we progressed?

# 1 No in terms of playing potential and guaranteed European football, #2 yes in terms of BMD and the added status that could and should bring.
Under Moyes we almost had the first and could only dream of the second.

It was a big 4 under Moyes mostly and he still had one of the biggest wage budgets in the division. However, you didn't get a Fulham or Aston Villa spending over £100m in a summer like what you do now. Everyone spends money except Norwich.

Personally, his years of saying we were a small club i. e. knife at a gun fight, done more damage to our club than anything else and lowered our reputation as a club with ambition.

But no we haven't progressed since Martinez. We progressed from Moyes with Martinez in that first season on what proper football is. I believe the Lukaku deal gave us the quality in front of goal we needed but also took away all the money to use in other areas. Maybe, that one more season with Moshiri's money might have seen us really progress. But hey, us fans know best.

Agree BJU but would say that not only haven't we progressed since that first season with Martinez we have gone backwards the last 4-5 years until we are now matching the records of the days of Mike Walker

Maybe we should have given him 2-3 years to get it right and we'd be the new Kings of Europe by now?
