Afternoon Eds. I was wondering if you think any more big names will be moving in or out of the Premiership and who you think they will be?

It’s always an interesting time of the year! Hoping we can still get a RB before the window closes.

BR2020-21

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and summarise here but you can expect a good number of changings of players who are well know with the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City working on trying to make changes for next season.}

Is the squad list available online for who has travelled to America?

If we get a new RB in before the start of the season, you’d expect less game time from Coleman over the season. When he’s not playing, who do you think should wear the captains armband?

I’d like to see someone like Alan or Digne given a go. Chances are it will be Sigs.

BR2020-21

1.) 16 Jul 2021 09:50:31
Benitez is no fool, his Captain will come from a Central position. Club Captain will remain Coleman.

2.) 16 Jul 2021 11:19:07
Godfrey all day long for me as captain.

3.) 16 Jul 2021 11:34:11
Someone who’s been at the club for longer than a year preferably. Calvert-Lewis would be interesting.

4.) 16 Jul 2021 11:54:21
Don’t think you get many strikers as captain.
For me should be a defender as they can see what’s going on ahead of them up the pitch and can compliment or criticise appropriately from what they see ahead of them.

5.) 16 Jul 2021 14:31:09
Personally I think your, positively, most influential player in the dressing room.

I think DCL would be a really good choice. He comes across very well in interviews and is very professional.

Other ones are Godfrey, Allan although I think he would be a good vice captain, he's someone that would have his back. Aside from that I'm not sold on most of the others.

Ricky and Digne at times come across as sullen and negative. Dacoure is a general but seems quite a quiet person. Sig nd Gomes don't get any love from the fans. Davies is only just getting some respect after a tough start to his everton career. Keane and Mina have cemented their name to their role really.

One though to think of from left field maybe is Pickford, although he may need a good season with us to get his hands on it.

He has matured and the biggest change has been his command of his defenders. He was bossing McGuire and rollicking him constantly during the Euros.

One moment which told he had changed was a throw in against Denmark. There was a player at the byline unmarked and McGuire was 20 yards away from him. He screamed at the top of his lungs to alert him which it did. McGuire was on it like a shot. That was so of the best goalkeeping I'd seen in the tournament. His saves were great but that was so. much better.

Giving him it might even knock hkm on another level.

6.) 16 Jul 2021 14:41:01
Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Shearer, Kane, Lewandowski, Messi… think it could work ok.

7.) 16 Jul 2021 19:49:08
I agree with Blue John, there's a change in Pickford, I think the responsibility might take him to a new level of consistency, he's always been very vocal, but the maturity seems to be getting there now, I'd keep Seamus, but let's be candid, his game time is becoming less and less, none of the others are standout candidates for me, DCL wether we like it or not is probably going to start maneuvering for a move in the next 12 months, if has another good season, I reckon he will be off once Canvani leaves United.

Morning Eds. Do you know what could be the hold-up to appointing Nuno? Are there any issues causing a delay, still considering options, waiting for Euros to finish, Everton being Everton and waiting until the last minute, negotiations over Doris the Tea lady’s contract causing a backlog, etc?

Or are we just being impatient fans again?

BR2020-21

{Ed002's Note - No agreement between the parties has been reached - it may be over him bring all of his own staff or it may be over resposnsibilities.}

1.) 16 Jun 2021 13:04:20
Bringing all his own staff would probably be it, if true. BK would not like to bin the likes of big Dunk.

2.) 16 Jun 2021 16:06:26
BCT, how much control do you think BK has? And from what are you basing this on? I keep seeing posts that claim he has a lot of say in the running of the club but surely the buck stops with the owner?

If Nuno is announced shortly, I think we should be impressed that the club has moved quite quickly on this one.

Often we complain about how we dither over recruitment of players etc, so to be put into an unexpected manager-less position less than two weeks ago and be on the verge of announcing someone two weeks later bucks the trend.

I, for one, hope this is a sign of things to come and we get an experienced premier league manager who can deliver some good football. Let’s hope this is the case as the previous handful haven’t managed it. The jury will be out until the new manager shows us what he can do with the squad.

However - this being Everton of the last 30 years - it wouldn’t surprise me for it all to go to pot at the last minute!

It often feels like some of us Evertonians need our heads checking!

We need a back up keeper; Begovic is ideal for the role. Pickford is the first choice and should start 85%+ of games so many keepers won’t come to us as they won’t get much first team football. Romero would probably cost more and we are still facing at FFP. It also gives us a few years to try and develop a youth keeper or search for a future youth keeper.

I see this a good, sensible move if it come off. Olsen won’t be back after the robbery so our alternatives aren’t obvious to me right now.

Was it choosing Pepsi over Coke in the dugout?

You can’t leave us hanging like that Ed002… what did we mess-up on this time?

BR2020-21

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant now.}

Maybe it’s just a gazebo from Mick’s Marquees so they have an open venue to make the announcement….

Given that Ed, the question for me is: how would he fair with Brands in charge of recruitment?

We could end up 18 months down the line looking for another manager.

BR2020-21

{Ed025's Note - if he is offered the gig BR he knows that brands will have a say in recruitment, if hes not happy with that i cant see him agreeing to come mate..

Credit where credit’s due: that win today was down to Rafa. Switched formation and got best out of players despite missing a few starters.

I think Southampton are relegation fodder this year so I’m not thinking we will win the league but these are the games we slipped up in last season and it’s nice we came from behind to win.

Well done Benitez.

Given Messi is at PSG, I don’t see Kean going anywhere soon unless there’s interest from Italy.

I think we need a RB, ST, CB and RW (in that order) before the window closes but would be happy with the first two. The Sig’s thing has thrown a spanner in the works a bit. Maybe a loan or two can help bring in some cover? Surely, there must be some bargain loans from the likes of PSG, Barcelona or other behemoths needing to cut wage bill more than us…

The annoyance for me is the timing. It’ll take a while to bed the players in so the sober business can be done, the better.

Better to judge him when we next play Utd. We’ve set a bench mark; now let’s go smash it!

“Lay off the manager…” you calling for his head already Ed25?!

Let’s see what happens over the next three and a bit weeks. Hopefully, there will be a signing and a couple of loans coming in. I still believe we will get a RB and backup CF (otherwise we could be in some trouble)

BR2020-21

{Ed0666's Note - as I mentioned to eds 025 earlier Shaq and Origi are available?
