Hi Ed, not strictly Everton related although I have been banging on for years for Everton to sign him. Do you know of any interested teams in Mikel Oyarzabal? He’s a supreme talent and I’m surprised he hasn’t moved from Sociedad sooner. Seems to me like the natural path for him would be to move to either Atletico or Barca. You heard anything?

{Ed002's Note - Mikel Oyarzabal is Basque and they often don't leave the Basque country. Manchester City have considered him.}

1.) 20 Aug 2020 19:15:53
Cheers Ed.

2.) 20 Aug 2020 22:50:08
Arteta is Basque I believe. They’re very passionate about their heritage.

3.) 21 Aug 2020 08:11:22
Very much so, in fact John Aldridge was the first non-Basque player to sign for them. It would be most unusual for someone from the Basque Country to sign for a Madrid team, much like a native Catalan.

Moise Kean is a done deal according to Di Marzio. He will fly to Liverpool tomorrow to have his medical and sign the contract. No buy back clause was included in the deal. Fantastic news this, we've signed a striker who has no limit to where he can reach in the game, so long as he works hard and irons out the insufficiencies in his game.

1.) 30 Jul 2019 12:18:02
Being reported in the Guardian now too.

2.) 30 Jul 2019 12:19:36
The guardian are reporting the same, looks promising! .

3.) 30 Jul 2019 12:29:56
If Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting it's a done deal then we've signed him. For an initial fee of £27.5 million as well. That is fantastic business given how much teams are paying for players nowadays.

4.) 30 Jul 2019 12:38:01
Best bit for me (other than signing him) is no buy back deal. Brands must be some sort of magician!

5.) 30 Jul 2019 12:55:59
And only on 50 grand a week few others now lads happy days.

6.) 30 Jul 2019 15:13:58
I like the look of this lad. Don’t we’ve spent any of our own money yet.

7.) 30 Jul 2019 14:09:58
Has anyone actually seen this lad? I’ve heard he is a good prospect but I still have that worry in my mind that he is another Sandro. Ed002 can you give the lowdown on him please?

{Ed002's Note - Yes he is seen as having a very good future but you need to remember that there has been an effort to get him out of Juventus to a stepping stone club (Ajax was first choice of course but rejected the opportunity knowing what was going on) and then on again elsewhere. It will also cause some ructions with an advisor to the club.}

8.) 30 Jul 2019 19:43:07
For what reason Ed? (The ructions)

{Ed002's Note - It is to do with individuals involved.}

05 Jul 2019 20:42:43
Anything on your end Ed of our reported bid of £36 million for Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo?

{Ed002's Note - Maxi Gomez (S) The player has made it clear his preference is to stay in Spain and Valencia want to take him. Their issue is the finances and even though a way has been found to fund the transfer (by a little horse trading), Valencia cannot match or get close to what West Ham are prepared to pay the player in terms of wages. The value of the deal being demanded is €50M either in cash from West Ham or in players and money over a longer period from Valencia. The player has made it clear that the Valencia project (including Champions League) is attractive, the Spanish life style and language suits him - so the expectation is a deal will be done with Valencia. The con to all of this is the carcass of an agent with excessive demands - which WHU will be able to address. Interest from Barcelona and Spurs has gone. As for Everton, I cannot see they can offer anything better than West Ham and I am not aware of any bid being made by Everton.}

1.) 05 Jul 2019 21:05:51
Thanks Ed, very informative. It was actually a Spanish journalist from Valencia named Julio Insa that broke the story of a reported bid of £36 million from EFC. Most likely a probe to try and hurry negotiations with Valencia.

2.) 05 Jul 2019 22:55:47
My hopes for this window are
Leao from Lillie
Zouma or Davison Sanchez from spurs
Malcom loan from Barcelona
Max Aaron’s right back from Norwich
Sangare from Toulouse if Gueye is to move

Move on

Lookman hasn’t had many chances and beat move on to progress his career

Tosun not silvas buy but still hasn’t had chances and doesn’t look like he suits our current style

Theo Walcott hard work down quite well last season ageing now and been in the game along time needs
To be playing regularly at this stage of his career

Schneiderlin big wages and only a back up Dave the club money

McCarthy move on for his own career but could do a job as back up

Niasse hast has a future at the club for a while

I would also move Pickford on if he’s looking to make the next step in his career as Ed002 has mentioned if you Get the right money and have a suitable replacement lined up. You can’t hold it against him if he wants to play in the CL etc. We replace players to make the next step
Up Ourselves.

3.) 05 Jul 2019 23:05:30
If you want to develop as a team then you don’t sell your best players. And Pickford is one of them.

{Ed002's Note - Players are simply transient employees of the club. If a player wants to leave the club should look to keep the players happy.}

4.) 06 Jul 2019 07:10:21
I agree about Pickford, its time for him to move on, just hope we have got someone lined up, with Joao Virginia supposedly going on loan, it would leave us with just Lossl and Stekelenburg. do u know if we have enquired about any replacements for him ed002? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Everton will sit down with him on his return and decisions will be made then.}

5.) 06 Jul 2019 11:40:40
Sounds like the Maxi gomes is a no starter.
If west ham do get him it sounds like he may have settling in issues if he prefers the Spanish way of life and language.
Surprised West ham have interest considering they have had their fingers burnt in the past.

03 Jul 2019 14:45:38
Not really one to post rumours because we all know 95% of them are absolute bollocks. Although I heard from someone earlier today that the club are looking towards Mikel Oyarzabal from Real Sociedad, what a signing that would be. Any of the Eds know of any interest from either Everton or any other clubs? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Everton are overrun with LWs. There is certainly interest in him from elsewhere.}

1.) 03 Jul 2019 14:57:12
My thoughts exactly Ed, we'd need to shift a fair few on to make room for him. Just another made up rumour I suspect.

2.) 03 Jul 2019 18:36:33
ed002 Just wondering do you know if Evertons bid for Zouma is down to the new manager or is the decision made higher up.

{Ed002's Note - It would be a mutual decision.}

3.) 04 Jul 2019 09:42:01
Thanks ed.

4.) 05 Jul 2019 10:47:27
Ed I feel like you have been saying that for the past ten 6 years 😂 Probably have haha. Completely true of course.

05 Jun 2019 11:39:08
A lot of rumours flying about new over new signings. Seems it's all just a guessing game. One name I have seen banded about is Seb Haller. Would love us to go for him although we'd have to break the bank. Another player we missed out on a couple of years back when we could have got him cheap. Anything on your end Eds?

{Ed001's Note - the striker I heard mentioned, no idea if it is likely or not though, is from RB Leipzig (I think) Jean-Kevin Augustin.}

1.) 05 Jun 2019 12:50:22
Not sure what I think of him tbh Ed. From what i've seen of him he prefers to play down the channels instead of through the middle and seems to like to be on the ball a lot which is something a striker must sacrifice in order to get into the right positions and make clever runs. If we were to sign him i'd imagine it'd be as an inverted winger as he does possess good passing ability and have good pace but as far as being a striking option I just don't think he's suited to us. Not only this but Everton like to play with a lone striker, whenever Augustin has played for Leipzig he's tended to play in a 2 up front so there's question as to whether he can lead the line by himself.

2.) 05 Jun 2019 21:37:39
Hi Eds, Lookman off to Southampton? Have you anything on that one.

{Ed001's Note - apparently there is interest from them yes. I don't know if Everton are willing to sell or loan him though.}

Players I think we should be looking at this window:

GK: Unai Simon
RB: Max Aarons
CB: Ruben Dias
LM/ CM: Dominik Szoboszlai
CDM: Teun Koopmeiners
CDM/ CM: Ibrahim Sangare
CAM: Dani Olmo
CAM: Amine Harit
LW: Mikel Oyarzabal
RW: Federico Chiesa
ST: Myron Boadu

All 24 and under. I realise a few are unrealistic but I think this is the type of players we should be pursuing.

16 Jul 2019 09:41:19
I'll be bitterly disappointed if West Ham pull of the Haller deal. I would have thought he's exactly the type of striker we would have been interested in this summer. The hammers have got themselves a great player there.

1.) 16 Jul 2019 11:40:08
Completely agree watched him a few times last season the lads a class act he's at a decent age an from what's being said £40-£45 mill in the current climate is a bargain in my oppinion.

2.) 16 Jul 2019 12:26:52
Yeah I've just put a post on the rumours site, 25, big strong stiker who scored 20 goals last year, why were we not involved in this, surely more proven than moise Kean for the same price?

3.) 16 Jul 2019 13:29:12
I've faith in Silva and brands but we desperately need a striker, we can't even score in these pre season friendlies! I can't see a better striker suited to everton than haller, pepe is a winger, Kean is too raw and only played a handful of games, unless the Costa deal is sorted?

4.) 16 Jul 2019 17:05:25
Haller looks good to me and scores goals, maybe he wanted to go to London this can happen, or maybe we have somebody lined up. For me a centre forward/ striker is very very important along with solving the centre back situation if Zuema does not return, and also right back cover, very surprised we let Kenny go out on loan.

5.) 16 Jul 2019 18:42:11
Letting Kenny go was a big mistake DC, i was shocked at the time, but now with the window closing in less than a month, its just created another urgent problem for us at the end of the window. Also, i would be very surprised if the cover we bring in is better than Kenny.

6.) 16 Jul 2019 21:42:29
We’ve got two big strong strikers in Tosun and Calvert Lewin. Any striker we bring in needs more in the locker than that. Only the best will do!

7.) 16 Jul 2019 23:20:25
Tosun and Kenny don't suit how we play under Marco.
Best let them go regardless of how good they are.
We are finally buying and keeping players with a plan.
Long may it continue.

12 May 2019 18:45:41
Another good display against one of the 'top 6' today. Some really promising signs from this Everton team since March, depending on our recruitment over the summer i think we can really push the top 6. I actually think we deserved the win today, had the better chances and played better football than Tottenham. Despite having 3 key first team players out it's encouraging to see that we can still get a result at a good team away from home and look comfortable in doing so.

1.) 12 May 2019 20:09:56
Agree with all of that Bitter! . Promising signs indeed. Now the focus must shift into Zouma and Gomes.

08 May 2019 23:06:26
Watching those Champions League semi-finals is incredibly hard to take. The emotion both Liverpool and Tottenham fans must be feeling now is something I'm envious of, and not many other things in life can give you that buzz other than the beautiful game. That is exactly what we should be aspiring for, incredible nights like those under the Goodison floodlights but we are a million miles away from both teams unfortunately. How has such a great club like ours fallen from such a height? I can only pray that we return to our former glory within my lifetime.

Our day will come blues. I just don't know when haha.

01 May 2019 16:35:22
Hey Eds, I was just wondering whether the club holds any interest in David Brooks from Bournemouth. Fits the player criteria laid out by Brands perfectly plus I remember reading about interest in him a couple of years back when he was still at Sheff Utd. I think that is an area Everton are alarmingly short in at the moment, with only Sigurdsson who can play that position effectively. Seems destined for bigger things although I'm sure most teams will be put off by the fee Bournemouth would likely demand. Probably in the region of £30 million.

{Ed025's Note - it may be even higher than that BB, hes a very good young talent but i have not heard of any links with us mate, but as you say he does fit the brands brief so we will have to see..

1.) 01 May 2019 19:11:06
I find it pretty ironic that we only have one number 10 this season when last season we had about 32 of them.

2.) 01 May 2019 22:13:10
We had a look at Brooks a few seasons back then pulled out of it, missed the boat with that one sure it was Martinez who was sniffing.

3.) 02 May 2019 22:39:11
Would love Brooks at Everton would be perfect but it seems clear to me that buying British players does not fit in with Silva or Brandts very sad would love this guy if possible.

4.) 03 May 2019 07:05:08
Top top younger Player.

Where have you heard this boydblue? If true then i'll be getting immensely excited. Watched the lad a few times and can't sing his praises enough, his playing style reminds me quite a lot of Modric. If we could get him for say £10 mil, then i'm confident he'd develop into a player who is worth 4/ 5 times that in years to come. Pretty please Brands!

Has to be said, if West Ham pull that Pablo Fornals deal off it'll be the coup of the summer. Shame we didn't go in for him.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Mitrovic, his attitude stinks. Looks completely disinterested most of the time and he certainly wouldn't suit the playing style we're trying to implement.

I have no quarrels with him being a squad player bluepotato but as a starter? If we are to kick on surely a higher quality of player is needed in the middle of the park?

Make no mistake Schneiderlin has come in and done a decent job in Gomes' absence but to say he's an adequate replacement is far off the mark. If we want to improve we have to sign a higher calibre of player than MS, remember this guy has been missing for almost 2 seasons and because he's had 3 decent games you want him back in the team full time? Thankfully, I don't believe this will be Brands or Silva's plan.
