Is there anyone left on here who stills questions Big Dunc and credentials?

BlueJohnUns

1.) 17 Dec 2019 19:13:04
How could you, the guy bleeds blue COYB.

2.) 17 Dec 2019 20:41:39
Bluejohn, He's dynamite mate, just exudes Everton FC and if you don't follow suit, start ducking pal! lol.

3.) 17 Dec 2019 21:26:44
True Blue mate.

4.) 18 Dec 2019 06:33:01
No one is doubting his passion for the club but I’m not convinced he’s managerial material yet. In both Chelsea and Man Utd games we had around 30% possession and were fortunate not to concede more than one. We are still shaky at the back and not setting the world on fire (or even Goodison on fire) up front.

He’s been at the club since 2014 and it would be strange to not attribute some of the issues of the last few seasons with him. Have the last two results been part of the ‘new manager’ effect? He is a step in the right direction compared to Silva but that’s no real accolade to be fair.

It’d be great to see if he can win a few more games but I’m not sold that he is the man for the top job yet.

5.) 18 Dec 2019 08:05:54
He has been in charge for little over a week and has changed a team with no confidence to a team that don't stop fighting for each other. Picked up 4 points along the way with only 30% possession. He can only work with what he has and at the moment there are a few crucial injury problems as well.

6.) 18 Dec 2019 08:45:06
I'd love nothing more than one day dunc become our manager, would be boss! however not yet, also its called new manager bounce when someone comes in and has an immediate affect 8/ 10 it happens as the players get a kick up the arse.

{Ed025's Note - very much so wb..

7.) 18 Dec 2019 14:24:36
I would rather give up possession and get results when needed. One of the issues with Silva and Martinez is that they wanted possession and control all the time. That's why teams would just get back and defend solidly. Sometimes, you have to accept that the other team will have more of the ball. Results over style is important.

However I'm not saying play the SA way. I'm just saying against the bigger teams, we may need to play that way, especially when we are struggling.

8.) 18 Dec 2019 16:30:27
:the guy bleeds blue: Don't we all that's not credentials?

9.) 18 Dec 2019 19:43:45
Although he’s only been manager for a week, he has been working with these players for years as a coach.

10.) 18 Dec 2019 21:49:29
The whole argument of new manager bounce falls flat when you look at Arsenal.

11.) 19 Dec 2019 09:52:49
Tiffa, Some just cannot accept that DF has more to him than just being an avid Evertonian mate.

12.) 19 Dec 2019 10:46:13
thats why i said 8/ 10 mate.

13.) 20 Dec 2019 15:06:01
"Although he’s only been manager for a week, he has been working with these players for years as a coach" And that's when we went downhill.

14.) 20 Dec 2019 18:41:21
Sadly we went downhill after a long period of stability under moyes who took us as far as he could, Martinez, koeman, big sam and silva took us backwards to throw blame at dunc is daft, the players responded to him and put a shift in for him, he will have gained a lot from his caretaker stint, but is not quite ready yet.

15.) 21 Dec 2019 19:56:02
Agreed. Dunc has steadied the ship, restored pride and may even have helped convince Ancelotti that we're not a hopeless case. He's probably learnt loads over the last few weeks which will help him whether he goes elsewhere to be a manager or stays at Goodison to help out.

We saw the limits of 4-4-2 today as well, we looked flat and started passing sideways and were unable to link with the forwards or get decent crosses in. A poor Arsenal were able to get between the lines.

I'd like to see Niasse come on as sub rather than Tosun as well.

16.) 22 Dec 2019 22:53:44
carlo 4 year deal, i'd be happy with dunc then, he seems level headed and still willing to learn.

05 Oct 2019 23:39:38
A few weeks again against Sheff utd I saw Silva's reign end. He made rash substitutions and tactical changes. Today just confirmed it.

Those players on the pitch today let the manager down yes but they are letting each other down much more. And ofcourse the fans but I'm looking at this from a professional level first.

Delph and Schnids are either lazy or incompetent. Neither of them moved away from the middle of the park today. They didn't take any chances to get forward and as Silva pointed out, were not brave enough to try and make things happen.

Iwobi was full of running but there were so many times Digne was slow to support him. On the right the chemistry between Seamus and Ricky is none existent.

Upfront DCL is desperate for his no10 to help him. He makes himself available but he's knowhere to be seen. Ricky and Iwobi go looking for him but he's never there. He so individual now it's like he's just playing on his own.

In defense, the intensity of earlier on this season has gone and we've regressed which in set pieces means we are an easy target again.

As much as I want this team to be successful we need a new manager. EVERY player let us down today. EVERY single one of them.

The next manager needs to motivate these players and give them a simple plan. I pray to god we don't make the same mistakes of the past in getting someone like Sam. It has to be a long term vision but I don't hold out any hope they'll be given the right support again and we will simply be in this position in about 12 months time.

Unfortunately, I'll be telling my grandkids about how the city used to have two clubs.

BlueJohnUns

1.) 06 Oct 2019 07:56:31
They are letting us fans down most of all mate.

2.) 06 Oct 2019 12:12:34
They are GB but what should come first to the players should be to each other.

If they play for the manager and each other they become a team. They'll work together to improve. Football is a team sport and no individual can do the role of everyone in it.

They must at all times work for each other.

3.) 06 Oct 2019 20:23:01
Very true John mate good post.

12 Nov 2018 19:03:18
What a difference the right people make to a football club.

Steve Walsh and Ronald Koeman where such a disaster but I wonder who was more culpable.

Was it Koeman with his negative tactics in his second season. In his first he played attacking and fluid fast football that saw us have one of our best periods in the second half of that season that we've had in the EPL era.

Or was it Walsh with his purchase of three no10's and not one player to come in and replace the departing Lukaku.

Looking at the players Walsh brought in and the massive increase in quality of what Brands has brought in, with clear input from Silva (Richarlson), and the difference to what the right people can make to a football club is clear to see.

I honestly trust these two with the future of this club and do so more than anyone brought in over the last few years.

Long may this continue.

So sky have their sources tell them we have a deal with Barcelona for Mina. Their sources also say he's involved with a bid for Pogba.

I'd maybe want to have a word with them sources and tell them to make their mind up!

BlueJohnUns

1.) 07 Aug 2018 09:17:12
He could be involved in both lol.

Clubs don’t usually put all of their eggs in one basket and it doesn’t look like Mina wants to join us so they should be looking to offload him elsewhere.

2.) 07 Aug 2018 10:03:26
Highly unlikely a deal involving 2 players plus cash sounds very complicated with so many players to agree terms etc.

3.) 07 Aug 2018 10:06:13
I also feel like their “sources” are just people in an office trawling through other people’s social media accounts.

05 Aug 2018 20:21:23
Just coming out now we've signed Mina!

BlueJohnUns

1.) 05 Aug 2018 21:25:45
I hope so after yesterday! Jags been a good servant to the club but sadly his legs have gone. No leader on the pitch yesterday. Gueye should be the captain in my opinion. Attacking midfielder needed now.

2.) 05 Aug 2018 21:27:20
Where u hear that from bluejohn I don't see it anywhere plus no mention of medical been taken.

3.) 05 Aug 2018 21:30:34
Coleman is surely the new captain in waiting?

4.) 05 Aug 2018 21:38:03
I know it was only a friendly but he was poor and didn't seem to be shouting at his fellow players. Only players with credit yesterday was Gueye, Tosan, Walcott. Rest of the team CBA!

5.) 05 Aug 2018 21:38:19
And fully agree with the Coleman shout.

6.) 05 Aug 2018 21:38:44
Sorry missed Richarlison.

7.) 05 Aug 2018 22:28:41
A fee was agreed weeks ago. There is no ‘news’ here, just SKY scratching around for headlines.

8.) 05 Aug 2018 22:59:47
Personal terms were agreed ages ago. There was an “understanding” a few days ago that they were to agree a few. However today, the complete fee (add on, etc) has been agreed today!

How reliable this is I do not know. It is only what I know from usually a very reliable source.

9.) 06 Aug 2018 21:35:15
Where did you see this?

10.) 06 Aug 2018 21:37:33
bookies have cut odds to 1/10.

Congrats to DCL becoming the highest league scoring English Everton player since Kevin Campbell in 99-20.

5 more this season and he becomes the highest league scoring English Everton player since Lineker in 85-86!

BlueJohnUns

1.) 25 Feb 2020 16:34:43
He could and should have had them on Sunday.

2.) 25 Feb 2020 16:55:01
Agree Stig, he needs to be more clinical AKA Lineker.

3.) 25 Feb 2020 18:17:39
On the plus side he is improving year on year.

4.) 25 Feb 2020 19:06:50
Let’s remember boys Lineker had a very good creative midfield behind him whereas DCL as well as Ricky are expected to both create and convert.

5.) 25 Feb 2020 22:37:29
Jesus Christ😏.

6.) 26 Feb 2020 15:20:31
DCL is a fine striker in the making. His contribution since Duncs stand in has been outstanding. It wouldn’t shock me if he got an England call up. It’s not fair to expect a goal return like Linekers but a more realistic comparison would be Sharp. If he delivers in the same way GS did then the lads done well.

Well done DCL for your form and hard work thus far.

18 Feb 2020 08:13:26
5 points off 4th place and 4 off 5th with 12 games to go.

Time to make our home form count and get Goodison shaking in its foundations and watch out any away grounds with our unbelievable away choir. We'll show Arsenal this weekend what proper supporters sound like.

Come on you blue, beautiful bar stewards!

1.) 18 Feb 2020 12:16:14
Chelsea are struggling at the moment and could well end up missing out on champs league.
Losing to Arsenal will bring them back into contention so I'd be happy with a draw.
4 points from man u and chelsea and we will be there and there abouts come the end of the season.

2.) 18 Feb 2020 21:51:51
Given we’re playing 9 of the top 10 over the remaining games then it really is in our hands playing our direct rivals for Europe. Only time will tell if we’re good enough.

3.) 20 Feb 2020 09:41:44
Win your home games and don't lose your aways.

22 Jan 2020 18:33:21
We need to get a bit of perspective of where we are and the expectations for the remainder of the season, plus what next season could hold.

We are currently going through a period where we have a lot of injuries. The big ones are in CM with Gbamin and Gomes out. We've also had Ricky out who has been one our top performers so far this season and Sig. Bernard has also only just come back after having a spell out injured.

We also failed to get that extra CB and the dramatic loss of form in Keane and Sig has seen us suffer this season. Also, Kean has and will take time to get use to the league as well as his team mates.

We lost Gana who was our most influential CM for the past couple of seasons and we struggled to find a way of making the best of the strikers we had at the club.

The shoots of recovery are there. 1 defeat in 9 league games against the Champions. Our young striker DCL now in double figures and looks dangerous every game now he is playing like how a CF should be playing. this has been the area we have been trying to fill since Lukaku left and we now look like filling it.

Lukaku scored 15 in his first season with us and in his second 10. Well DCL has reached the 10. I wouldn't be surprised if DCL got close to that 15 by the end of the season. If he gets to 16 he would be only the second Everton player to reach this since Kanchelskis in 96. Oh and he's still 22.

We now have a manager that I think we all believe in and get behind. We know this isn't his team and he will bring in his own players he needs to fit the tactics he wants to implement. At the moment he is building a team with someone else's tools.

Best post I've read for some time mate.

2.) 22 Jan 2020 21:49:53
BJU, I like your thinking and it’s refreshing to read a more positive / optimistic piece that isn’t littered with daydreams - well in 👍.

3.) 23 Jan 2020 07:19:36
Brilliant piece BJU and well said, only thing I would add is the emergence of Holgate, still room to improve but I feel he’s grabbed his opportunity to showcase himself.

4.) 23 Jan 2020 09:23:46
Luv it BJU.

5.) 23 Jan 2020 10:06:07
The thing i like about Holgate is he can play it out from the back but is also prepared to put the ball over the stand when he has to, and send the opoonent with it if need be.

6.) 23 Jan 2020 11:14:48
Wasn't he more thought of at Barnsley than Stones? He's going to be very very good, maybe not a great but certainly a serious talent. I think he's great.

22 Jan 2020 09:25:30
I think you'd had a little too much sugar when you posted Skylark and I know it's frustrating when we drop points like that but the signs are good that we are moving in the right direction.

Davies came on and he was shocking. I like the lad and think he's got what it takes to make it (I know many don't) but I won't defend that kind of performance.

I agree with Pickford. I have never rated him as a goalkeeper because of his temperament. He allows his emotions to control his performance and again last night he collapsed. I though in the first half he handled himself well, in fact for 90 minutes. However, when you need that rock in between the sticks he, i'm afraid crumbles.

There are loads to be positive about. DCL and Kean's performance was outstanding and Bernard deserved that round of applause when he came off.

Schinds and Delph put in good performances but for me we need two right backs and a right winger badly. The three of them (Walcott, Sidibe and Coleman) are not good enough.

Finally, Holgate is turning into a real player. What's more I heard him constantly shouting and screaming at his defence which we have missed for so long. Him and Mina are working well together.

Finally, Niasse. Never, ever put this guy on a football pitch ever again. There are under 5's that will do a better job than this tool.

BlueJohnUns

1.) 22 Jan 2020 10:19:12
You saved me typing the same message John. I agree with all you say especially about Davies and Pickford. Maybe they’ll develop into decent players but at the present time they are liabilities. DCL has changed my opinion on him so who knows.
The most pleasing thing about last night was we totally dominated the game from start until the last 40secs but with a bit more composure we could’ve won 5 or 6. So that means we can and will improve more under Ancelotti.

2.) 22 Jan 2020 10:28:24
I think your being a bit harsh on Pickford BJU he didn't stand a chance with the second goal. To be fair he was throwing himself at shots that were blocked right in front of him which unfortunately put him behind the line for the shot that he did have a chance to save. First goal was a weak punch so can blame him for that.

3.) 22 Jan 2020 11:16:31
I'm not saying he's a bad goalkeeper sa it's just his composure really let's him down. He might get better and he's only young but this isn't something you train it's your make up of who you are.

The screaming and shouting when he makes a save is over the top. He should be confident enough to say "it's just another save". Staying calm at all times transfers to the rest of the team.

4.) 22 Jan 2020 12:12:36
Think in addition to his horrendous attitude he's got an issue with crosses and controlling his box. Very rarely he comes off his line and calms a situation by taking the ball cleanly. He's a great shot stopper and if we ever switch to 5 a side he'd be the first name on my teamsheet.

5.) 22 Jan 2020 12:55:45
He did the same last season at St. James Park, 2 nil up cruising and he baits their fans, we end up losing 3-2, same last night, lost focus, same at Anfield 2 seasons on the bounce, 2 mistakes deep in injury time gift our neighbours 2 goals.

If memory serves me right he nearly cost us a goal against Burnley with not coming out for a ball that was 80/ 20 his to win.

Then the Bournemouth away a few seasons ago.

How many goals has he let in with shots going over his head into the far corner.

Great shot stopper for sure but no command whatsoever in his area.

I pity the younger generation who never got to see Neville Southall who made the area his own, rarely punched a ball and never ever parried a ball out forward, it was always pushed away from danger towards the byline.

The finest goal keeper ever, what a shame we won’t offer him a coaching job, Pickford would learn so much from the big man.

6.) 22 Jan 2020 16:20:30
One thing I loved about Holgate last night was an incident where Digne and could of be Morgan messing about at the back, holgate sensed the potential danger and booted it high into the stand, it wasn’t that he just kicked it out it was the fact he smelled the danger and dealt with it, turning into a real quality player, hope he continues to listen to CA as he will make him top drawer.

7.) 22 Jan 2020 21:14:51
I think that was digne and bernard.

No doubt they have a plan I assume but never the less I'd rather see the club try and make progress in a more sustainable way.

Thanks ED I try to stay away from the figures as you've provided enough on here in the past to make it clear none of us truly understands what the runnings of a football club is really like. Some here wouldn't even do well on football manager!

I think the losses we can have are something like 100m over 3 years. Anything more is against the rules.

I also thought there is an issue with wages and how much these can be or increase by but I have not got much of a clue. The Ed's will know what this is I'm sure but it usually looks like a list as long as your arm and makes you go cross eyed.

Wages for me are more serious as this is an ongoing debt and if you are paying too much and in poor quality you can't get rid of the players.

BlueJohnUns

{Ed002's Note - I would not worry about the wages in terms of FFP - I would worry about them as they are close to 90% of the income of the club. Add to that the money being paid to the coach and the money being paid to advisors and perhaps you will start to understand the financial mess. Hence the loans from Santander, and in particular and recent, Rights and Media Funding. It is not good I am afraid.}

He hasn't Smit. he's an upgrade, just, but not the answer.

He takes too many gambles and costs goals at important times. We already have Pickford who does that, we don't need any more.

I want the next Jags or Watson. Dependable, authoritative and demanding. We need that new spine to be like granite. The problem we have now is there are no leaders anywhere on the pitch.

We don't own Sidibe and they'll be plenty looking to take him on including AC Milan. Maybe ED could advise on this but even if we have an agreement with the other clubs the player still needs to want to come?

I'd rather we sort that out.

Also shows what a good manager can get out of his players.

I don't think that will happen Guernsey. If you read what he's said today he wants to bring through the youth and make very subtle changes in personnel. I prefer that as we seem to spend 5 months every season bedding in 5 or 6 players and it messes up the start of the season.

As for Tom. I'm happy with him. 22 year old dealing with unrealistic expectations of his home fans wanting Zidane. Not many out there at his age doing it in the top flight of any league in his position.

Not to worry though he'll be sold next year like most of the kids that get battered by our own.

Luckily DCL started scoring because most on here were saying he should be dropped and flogged.
