Likely we’re being g held up by not having moved Maupay, Holgate and DCL on. I’d be tempted to let Dacoure go. We have other players that can play no. 10 role and Gana, Garner and Tim for the two holders, Onyango too although I’m not sure what’s happening with him. Feels like there’s more business to be done over the next couple of weeks.

Well if JB goes we’ve seen what our defence is like without him. So who do we get in to balance that out.
We should be building a defence around JB, O’Brien and Dixon as main stays to the side. Don’t sell him, give him a pay rise, and bin the Keane’s and Holgate’s. In fact I would give them away just to get them off the wage bill.

Contractually we are ok with JB. I’d keep him because we’ve seen life without him. I’d sell others, just not him. Bottom line is this, we have a proven defensive formula as seen last season. We don’t have an attacking one, and with no guarantees we can fix that area, the one thing we don’t do is meddle with the defence to see if we can. We could end up with both areas broken and then we are down for sure.

That option is no longer available. As been capped now to 5 years as far as I am aware Bluedev.
{Ed001's Note - you can still sign those ludicrously idiotically long contracts which do nothing but leave you stuck with a useless player (see Mudryk and Sterling for examples). What you can no longer do is amortise the transfer fee in the club's accounts for any longer than 5 years. Previously you were able to link the amortisation to the length of the contract, so a 7 year deal meant the transfer fee was paid (in the accounts anyway) over a 7 year term. It was merely a loophole to avoid PSR regs, which never actually worked, which is why Chelsea had to sell half the club to another company owned by their ownership group, to avoid penalties.}
