This is the sunshine filled version of the transfer window. All for an apparent outlay of 1.6 million and a new manager in Rafa:

2 experienced backup keepers in Begovic and Longergan

2 new attacking midfielders (who already have paid dividends) in Gray and Townsend,

A newish midfielder/ forward in Iwobi, being played centrally as he should, who is already paying dividends.

A newish defensive midfielder/ possible CB in Gbamin back from injury.

Godfrey will be back soon we hope.

Doucoure is newish, in that he is being utilized appropriately and is paying dividends.

A new experienced backup striker in Rondon, with PL experience (whom I remember how genuinely distraught he was after the McCarthy injury) . And can Gordon step up and provide some support? And is there a player in Tosun (when he gets back) ?

We are light on the LB and RB is the main complaint. (will Rafa play wingbacks and 3 CB with Braithwaite now showing some skills)

Not bad at all on a shoestring. Not top 5, perhaps fighting for top 10, likely a safe mid-table in a rebuilding and refinancing year.

Aurier at RB? Can Baines come back and play on the right side? Can Tony Hibbert dust off the cleats and take to the pitch?

Interesting year ahead!

I absolutely sit in this camp 770. It ain't been a bad window and we are already showing we are very competitive in this league this year.

2.) 01 Sep 2021 08:24:20
I agree. When you consider we didn't/ don't have a pot to p. in, not bad business from Brands and Rafa. Some wage reduction from the column marked FFP, so let's see where we are come January.

3.) 01 Sep 2021 09:13:45
What’s more frustrating ducks is that we do have a pot to p! ss you n, in fact our pot is as big as most in the league. The issue is that we have abused the pot badly and now can’t produce it due to years of misspending and mismanagement. Yep don’t know what I prefer… being skint or having money that we aren’t allowed to use, at the moment the latter makes me mad 😡.

4.) 01 Sep 2021 11:12:35
Agree Blu 1. People don't really understand the way ffp impacts a club, regardless if they have money or not.
and people saying top 10 would be good? No it won't we still need to get in to Europe, otherwise we will still be in the same position. It's not just about reducing the wage bill, we have to generate more income, and you won't do that finishing 10th.

5.) 01 Sep 2021 12:24:41
I think people mean that if we maintain same level as last year despite making a net profit in the window, shaving hundreds of thousands off the weekly wage bill and having one of last seasons regular starters suspended its got to be seen as a good result. In order to build we first need to right the many wrongs and if we can stand still whilst doing that rather than going backwards I'd be made up.

6.) 01 Sep 2021 13:34:39
Very sensible comments. This feels like we are being run in the correct manner for a change. We do not have the capacity to make big losses each year unless we increase revenues which we have not done to match the purchases we have made.

If we can get the wage budget in the right levels by the time we get to moving into the stadium, we will have huge scope to scale up the quality recruitment at that time. But right now we have manage the club better.

Exactly TD.

What is the world’s record for the shortest lived sports league? 😏.

So Cavani can assault Mina on the pitch and it’s cool, but he gets banned for posting something online.

So the pen is mightier than the sword.

Happy New Year.

With the postponement, we must keep our thoughts with the MC players and their families with regards to C.V. 19. I wish their club and the MC family the best in health and speedy recovery.

That being said, and rightly so, it is a blessing that we did not have to play a deeper City squad on two days rest without starters.

It was a likely loss. When this match is rescheduled who knows, but MC, between the Cup semi-finals, the FA Cup, the Champions League, and the EPL regular season, they are play two matches a week most of the next few months.

If we get players back, we should be able to face them with a healthier squad, and City should be plain tired.

And they still have one EPL game in hand to play compared to Everton.

Everyone stay well over there, this C.V. is going to get worse before it gets better.

Blues70 whilst agree with your sentiment regards the health of the staff, players and respective families at Manchester City and their well being.

I’m not sure why you think it was a likely loss for us?
We’re the form team in the league riding high on our recent results, would have had 2000 fans behind us and been well up for it - personally think they would have been there for the taking.

The postponement does give our players a rest but it also potentially slows our momentum.

Think the postponement was probably the right decision as protects our squad and staff, however it appears the manner in which it was decided on leaves a lot to be desired and also potentially breaches the rules the premier league stipulated when agreeing to the return of football - only if less than 14 players available should a game be postponed - with the squad city have I’d have been amazed if they couldn’t field a team.

This postponement may actually lead to a call for the cessation of football - wouldn’t be surprised as pretty much the whole of the UK in lockdown.

I just see a dearth of scoring on our part without Digne and a healthy RB feeding DCL and without Ricky and Allan and James.

Presuming the level 5 doesn’t envelope the football world, I would rather face City later.

Mostly how we struggled to score against Sheffield makes me worried.

Is he any good? Serviceable at least? It is still Tony Hibbert for me. Or Holgate. Or Godfrey. Or Kenny. Or.3 CB and 2 wingbacks.

Let's see what Rafa can do with him. Most of the same players, they are looking better than last year.

C’mon Ed, let’s get a little positive here. The may add the US Women’s team to the Florida Cup, along with the All-Disney Team (Goofy is the keeper) .

{Ed0666's Note - I still wouldn’t fancy you’re chances mate. Lol

I did mean vital roles. Viral, perhaps Freudian, was a talk to text blunder.
