When you read the headline “Bill Kenwright blocked striker signing” it sounds terrible that he’d block the signing of a striker in our current predicament.
However when you read the story as Dentie clearly has (33yr old being offered a 2yr contract at £150k per week) it doesn’t sound that bad at all, in fact with our current financial predicament was probably a sensible decision.
However what is clear from this story is that the club is still in a mess regarding recruitment.
Moshiri clearly said he’d get a striker and looks like he did get one sorted.
However it wasn’t agreed by the chairman and where was the director of football in all of this?
The sooner both moshiri and Kenwright stop meddling in player purchases the better!

No striker DCL is good to play for 30 percent of games his goal return is abysmal. Over paid or not that might be the rock we perish on. I can assure you the cost to the club will be far higher than one lads wages.

{Ed002's Note - I doubt Sporting would be open to any Everton cast off as they need funds.
Matheus Nunes (CM) Sporting are not looking to sell the player but his agent has offered him to Everton and Wolves and has said that he will be speaking with Spurs, but I don't know if that has all happened yet. Interest has been shown by both CA at Everton and NES at Wolves but both have since moved on. Whether or not Rafa Benitez sees him as a priority over other positions is not clear, and it is hard to see how he would fit in without a departure. Additionally, Everton would need to raise more funds than he costs to address an expenditure issue. Whether or not Bruno Lage would be interested would likely depend on the future of Ruben Neves. I doubt Spurs would be interested as they have far higher-profile targets in mind.}

He works his socks off and doesn’t stop all game, he got a goal tonight and if you actually watch it his first touch was very good and finished it off nicely.
Would start him every game as he actually wants to play with us and will improve for a run of games.

Beto needs a run for me. Agree he's short on quality, but he's a handful and a grafter. He misses some chances, but so does DCL and the latter doesn't work hard. Beto gets more chances than DCL due to his effort and desire. One good season of tap ins has had everyone thinking DCL is good - how many offers have we turned down for him? Not many I don't think, which says it all.

The VAR penalty nonsense confuses me. It was a 50/ 50 penalty but the ref thought it was initially and stopped the game. They chipped in, he had a look and waved it away. Fair enough but, the ref stopped the game whilst we were attacking so when it restarted the ball was given to the goalie. If he hadn't blown the whistle, anything could have happened in the next phase of play so it should be one of two ways -
If the ref calls a penalty and stops play, the penalty has to be awarded - no review.
The ref doesn't blow EVER, play continues and they look at the incident during play and notify the ref to stop the game. If he needs to review, he does when the ball is in a neutral phase.

VAR got it right. I’ve never seen the restart go to the attacking team in penalty calls changed. As frustrating as that moment was, even if we had the penalty and scored, it would be a matter of time before we conceded again. We were too slow at the back and Brighton were tearing us a new one.
With Spurs up next we need to be so much better. My only hope is that the players are shamed into a better performance and SD makes changes. But my head is saying No hope and Bob Hope.

The most frightening thing Toffee is that Spurs are even better in the wide areas than Brighton are. If Johnson plays, he is going to have a field day with that ball across the 6 yard box.
