So if rumours are to be believed then Rafas first signing could be Ramsey, another thirty year old. Apparently they could get him for free but would probably have to pay high wages.
Bit strange this as it's the wage bill we need to get down, and would expect the player would want at least a two year contract.
Hope this is just paper talk, otherwise we have learned nothing.

Only thing worse would be Mourinho managing Ramsey in Goodison. If it happens we sould be relegated directly to league two.

2.) 06 Dec 2021 19:41:06
Hi Eds, anything about Digne and Rafa having a bust up?

{Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

3.) 06 Dec 2021 23:26:43
I think all this Ramsey and Hazard talk is just either trash paper talk or someone at Everton trying to focus attention elsewhere

Mind you Moshiri hasn't learnt anything in over 5 years so you never know.

4.) 07 Dec 2021 07:19:21
I am getting the feeling that players will now not come in unless Raga wants them.

5.) 07 Dec 2021 07:37:56
Ramsey was going to none league Wrexham in last weeks papers.

Looked solid at the back while Mina was on, and looked better in midfield when Gomes came on and we went 4-3-3.
Thought Richardson tonight was immense, not only for his goals but in the effort he put in to win the ball back. Highlighted perfectly when in the last minutes ha was at right back winning the ball.
Had a little bit of luck when they hit the post, but hey it's about time we had some luck.
Still need a r/ b in the window, and probably a l/ b to now.
Oh and a c/ h / captain who can get this out of the players every game. Mina just to injury prone sadly.

Don't know where that Richarlison has been, maybe he thought he was playing for Brazil but I hope we can keep that guy interested.

Sure we need a RB and Striker, and CB but now a LB too. What do others think is priority for Jan? one thing I'm sure we don't need another aging overpaid player like Ramsey.

2.) 07 Dec 2021 08:29:28
Over the moon fir Gomes too. His close control to set up Gray was brilliant. Vintage Gomes when he came on. Hopefully his injury is well behind him and his mind is back in the game. He will be a major asset in a midfield 3 with Allan and Doucoure.

3.) 07 Dec 2021 09:01:14
'That' Richarlison is one of the hardest working players we have add to that his obvious skill and ability, best position for me is coming in from the left. Still needed that bit of luck last night but it gave the Club a lift. All we can ask (all I and the old school old (er) buggars have wanted) is the fight and effort for the Club and badge the players showed last night. Make no mistake we are going to lose more games but what supporters want is to see our team trying and putting in a 100 percent.

4.) 07 Dec 2021 09:59:01
Who we can sign will be dictated by FFP.
We can’t afford to lump 30 mill on a 21 year old prospect. I don’t mind the club signing 30+ year olds as an interim, on short term deals, as long as they are an improvement on what we have. If we can sign/ loan a versatile full back, a striker, and a right midfielder, I’d be happy. If we can offload Iwobi and Tosun (maybe Digne now too) it would strengthen our position to sign 3 or 4. Going to be an interesting window.

5.) 07 Dec 2021 12:49:17
The FFP issue is a conundrum we can amortise fees but not wages. So a free 30yr old on a high fee is as unhelpful as a costly young player on a lower wage. The ideal would for me be two short term loans of quality players whos wages are subsidised. A couple of free transfers on affordable wages to see us through to the end of the season. Then if we can reduce our financial commitments during the off season we can the look to add more quality and maybe tie up a few of the players that are out of contract.

6.) 07 Dec 2021 15:03:49
We will need a left back if rumours are true about him and Digne mate.

7.) 07 Dec 2021 15:21:22
It was buying "free" thirty year old's on high wages that put us in this mess. Remember Bernard, James?
We can purchase players but they have to be on sensible contracts, not fantasy money.

8.) 07 Dec 2021 21:27:20
Nope Digne will be 'other'.

05 Dec 2021 20:02:23
Looks like we are stuck with Benitez now then. Maybe we will sack him end of season when we're relegated.

{Ed025's Note - i love your optimism bob.. :)

1.) 05 Dec 2021 20:24:20
I know Ed I’m just a grumpy old bugger, but I am getting a little worried mate tbh.

{Ed025's Note - welcome to the club bob.. :)

2.) 05 Dec 2021 20:40:00
Not as Grumpy as our dear mate Grumpytoffee he would have given us his input mate.

{Ed025's Note - sorely missed is old grumpy GB..

For sure Ed mate,

Had an interesting chat with my red cousins last night (once they had stopped laughing) , and they pointed out a few things about Benitez that I hadn't thought of.
Firstly when he went to Lpool he inherited Houliers team, a team that had Gerrard and Alonso in there midfield, probably two of the best midfielders at the time.
Haulier was always adamant that it was his team that won the Champions League not Benitez.
They also pointed out that if you look at his record he wins cups not titles, and they believe that this was mainly because he was good at setting teams up for one off games due to his style of play, but not a league title.
So I asked why did you get rid of him and their answer was, because we were never going to win the league playing that way, and fans were getting frustrated with his style of play.
They then had a last little dig saying he's good enough for you because you will never win the league, but you could have a decent cup run.
Don't you just love your relatives.

Hey Bob

LFC fan here - this is a load of crap mate. Alonso was brought to the club by Benitez so that's the first mistake.

Secondly Benitez won the league twice with Valencia which was an amazing feat considering the talent Real Madrid and Barcelona had at the time. He also cam very close to winning the league with Liverpool until his 'facts' speech about Man United.

The one thing your cousins did get right is Everton are not expected to be in a title race let alone win the title, if he gets you far in cups or wins one then that would be a massive achievement (at the moment) - think what Evertonians want to see is progress.

Maybe his methods are a little outdated now but the squad you have bar DCL is championship quality and that's the harsh reality.

I honestly hope you give a manager time to implement his ideas and maybe lay down foundations for the future.

2.) 02 Dec 2021 09:45:18
I will message them back and tell them what you said Ox. Obviously not Houliers team then.

3.) 02 Dec 2021 09:46:46
So are you saying he’s really a Championship manager Ox?
Because he has definitely won that.

4.) 02 Dec 2021 09:53:42
Love it Woburnblue.

Might be a blessing in disguise if he is a championship manager as at the moment it looks like that's where you are heading. :P.

5.) 02 Dec 2021 10:06:53
It certainly does mate.

6.) 02 Dec 2021 10:45:35
On a serious note, i'd like Everton to be better as i enjoy the rivalry between the two clubs. Would be great if we could wind back to how the 80's were - none of this plastic clubs like City and Chelsea.

7.) 02 Dec 2021 13:22:36
He tried to replace Alonso with Gareth Barry if my memory serves me right. I would have to check but I thought Alonso was brought in by Rafa when he first joined Liverpool.

{Ed001's Note - you are correct he did bring in Alonso.}

Do the Echo actually send a reporter to the match? Some of their player ratings are bizarre to say the least.

Boblatchblue

1.) 28 Nov 2021 17:17:18
the same press from the echo that never put questions to rafa about certain players under performing but still get 90 mins i don't read it mate if am honest you are right though.

28 Nov 2021 17:00:51
Hot off the press, formation for reds match. 5-5-0. Rondon right wing, Iwobi left wing.

Boblatchblue

1.) 28 Nov 2021 17:11:15
I'd go with 10-0-0.

I wanted Potter before we got Rafa. Mainly because he has his players putting in a full shift, and they never give up (just look at Lpool result) . To have Brighton maintain Premiership status is an achievement in itself. And their style of play is very easy on the eye.

Also helps having three in midfield. Maybe he will realise that and start playing 4-3-3. We just looked better balanced, and it allowed both Allan and Doucoure to get forward at times.

What’s peeing me off right now is Sky talking about Man Utd. Just how disrespectful is this to Everton and Arsenal.
Seriously thinking of binning Sky now.

Boblatchblue

{Ed014's Note - the same mate, it’s a cream my pantsathon about the pile of rubbish and the fabulous Fred…bla bla bla.

Does my head listening to the stuff spouted about that poxy little club!
