I was wondering if any of the Eds know whether Richarlison has been attracting any interest? I know he’s recently signed a new deal and I imagine the club would be loathed to sell him but I could also see him attracting interest from other clubs. Given the current financial position of the club and the lack of any other high value assets.

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - Not that i am aware.}

1.) 18 Jan 2020 10:24:32
Thanks Ed.

See we’re being linked with Everton Soares. Understand he’s a LW so must be legs in this one. Guessing our transfer policy is an entire team of LW’s.

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - Gremio are looking for a figure near his €120M termination clause.}

1.) 01 Dec 2019 13:22:07
Thanks Ed. I would assume that’s not money we’re able/ willing to spend on a position where we are already overstocked. Although given the current chaos nothing would surprise me at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - It would make no sense. They will accept less of course but Milan have been scared off by the asking price.}

2.) 01 Dec 2019 13:34:13
I feel like using ‘sense’ and ‘Everton’ in the same sentence is an oxymoron at this point.

3.) 01 Dec 2019 16:01:40
Is that figure before decimalisation?

4.) 01 Dec 2019 18:57:05
LW again. Can I swear on here.

5.) 02 Dec 2019 09:05:33
I think ages ago Ed002 said that Mina was quite terrible. I had always said Keane was not a top defender. but an average one. We know our scoring has been a problem and everyone talks about signing forwards. but whilst we are conceding so many goals, the pressure on the whole team is to try and defend better. We seem to concede an average of 1.5 goals per game. Any team that does that has to score 2 goals before the ball has been kicked! My view is we need 2 top defenders and learn how to defend again. I would be happy for Moyes to come in and sort that. When he left he was pretty insulting. I understand that. But right now personal pride has to be put aside and we need to start defending. Of course players like Siggy and Tom Davies are just having awful games at the mo and confidence is shot. injuries and VAR decisions also seem to go against us. I do believe we have quality in the squad but my priority would be 2 central defenders. and getting the players confident again.

{Ed001's Note - I think that might have been me, not Ed002. I don't remember saying it in those exact words but I was pretty scathing of Mina from what I had seen of him. He seemed like the absolute worst fit for English football and its pace that you could have bought. Not seen a lot to change my mind on him either.}

6.) 02 Dec 2019 17:58:55
Agreed. I have seen a landrover turn quicker than Mina.

15 Nov 2019 17:47:38
Evening all. Do any of the Eds know if Moise Kean is looking leave in January and if Everton are even entertaining this? I would assume not seeing as he only joined in the summer but you know what they say about assumptions.

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - I explained in the summer why Moise Kean was sold to Everton and he has the need for regular game time. He is expected to be pushed by Mino to fight for a way out of Everton and in to Roma - the interest of two other sides seems to have gone.}

1.) 15 Nov 2019 18:09:17
Thanks for the info Ed. Much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 15 Nov 2019 18:21:58
So do you think Everton made a mistake in signing Kean . I don't know anything about the young lad but seems like a few pundits kind of frown upon the young kid.

{Ed002's Note - Yes it was a mistake and at best Everton were to be no more than a stepping stone.Y He is seen as having a very good future but you need to remember that there was an effort to get him out of Juventus to a stepping stone club (Ajax was first choice of course but rejected the opportunity knowing what was going on) and then on again elsewhere. It has caused some ructions with an advisor to the club.}

3.) 15 Nov 2019 19:43:58
Thanks ed. A lot of mistakes seem to be going on at this club at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, the coach is a major one, the involvement of the owner and his advisor (now advisors), failure to address the real needs and adding LWs, etc..}

4.) 15 Nov 2019 21:06:18
So why would the owner invest and spend millions in a club and let it be run so bad by himself or others when the likes of yourself and us peasants can see what we need and where it's going wrong after all he is a successful business man.

{Ed002's Note - Well he is an owner of a football club, and in the same way as you would want if you owned it, has ideas to improve it. He spends a lot on "good advice". If Brands stays he needs more control. The owner and his advisor need to step back. The coach needs replacing. The major issues in the side need resolving - and this can be done largely through sales. Look to a decent loan or two and get on track.}

5.) 15 Nov 2019 21:23:52
Surely he would have to be playing well for to be pushing his way out to Roma.

I can’t personally see us taking a loss on him at this stage as he’s a future superstar imo.

Unless he’s mentally like his rather poorly chosen idol
( Balotelli) and he’s got a few screws loose.

I can’t see him going anywhere for a year or so

The biggest issue for me is Silva isn’t playing Him in his correct position. And until he gives him 10-20 games up top he’s not going to acclimatise imo.

{Ed002's Note - The potential is there - Roma offer a good environment to develop. Everton was a mistake and never going to last. Certainly Everton could block any move - that will cheer everyone up.}

6.) 15 Nov 2019 21:35:31
Sounds easy that ed what's he waiting for tell him to hurry up 😀.

{Ed002's Note - Sadly I doubt you will get the job Skylark.}

7.) 15 Nov 2019 23:16:55
lots of good neutral info there ed 002, maybe the coach should be binned off as well, it's ridiculous to think of money we spent and still cannot climb the table or put a settled 1st team out ( injuries aside )

we need to get a winning coach with a winning attitude.

8.) 16 Nov 2019 02:40:51
Whilst they may offer a good environment Ed. Will they be willing to offer €35-40 mill to take him in Jan?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Perhaps a loan initially?}

9.) 16 Nov 2019 07:10:28
can’t see any club paying what we paid for him
We might get around the 5 million mark we a sell on clause to claw the rest back
Good luck to him, for Everton’s sake, I totally agree with your comments Ed.

10.) 16 Nov 2019 07:51:53
5 million is nonsense Uran.

11.) 16 Nov 2019 10:26:24
Looks like his dad wants him to go to italy.

12.) 16 Nov 2019 11:02:03
He doesn't get on with his dad does he?

13.) 16 Nov 2019 13:24:50
How much do you think he is worth Toffee Dave.

14.) 16 Nov 2019 13:33:12
It's just what the papers say not me?

15.) 16 Nov 2019 21:57:47
I haven't seen enough of him to put a valuation on him Uran. Fair play to you if you have. But a fair few far more knowledgeable people than me seemed to think it was a surprise we managed to sign him at all. He's 19 years old so I'd be a little surprised if his valuation has dropped by over 20m in just a few months.

16.) 17 Nov 2019 07:43:49
Papers trying to sell our players as they always do Penysarn.

17.) 17 Nov 2019 14:18:09
Better to keep him and bring him along slowly.

18.) 19 Nov 2019 23:32:56
Ed are you saying that no one at our club realised he was using us as a stepping stone? (I thought it was plainly obviously) Now they have realised that and want to sell because of it?

Or is Mino/ Moise unhappy that he isn't getting enough game time and it might take an extra season or 2 until he is signed by a big club on a big wage?

{Ed002's Note - The owner struck the deal based on him being a fegular goalscorer and getting a very good return for a couple of years.}

19.) 23 Nov 2019 07:04:39
Hes a 19 year old kid what's the point in having a model on buying youngsters to build a team for the future if your going to sell them in 6 months? personally i'd like to see the lad have a run of games then see how he gets on, the fact we don't play through a st dosent help him everything is out wide because of how poor siggy has been this season i'd like to see some one give him the ball early instead of 45 passes around the back and midfield giving the oposition pleanty of time to find there shape an get men behimd the ball, it dosent matter who we play upfront unless your a big target man you will struggle playing as a striker for us with this system.

26 Jun 2019 18:37:06
Hi Ed, I’ve seen a few articles linking us to Moise Keane recently. Do you know if there is any interest from Everton?

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

1.) 26 Jun 2019 19:02:41
Ha ha I definitely wasn’t preparing my welcome banner. Thanks Ed.

2.) 26 Jun 2019 22:14:16
I was just going to amend the one for when Keane joined from Burnley.

3.) 27 Jun 2019 10:13:30
Much like Neres, Malcom and every other good player we’ve been linked with in the rags ed? 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Why not read what I said about the other two rather than trying to take embarrassing digs at me. Idiot.}

4.) 27 Jun 2019 11:48:03
Hi Ed all these links to a lot of midfielders think our main focus is strikers a lot of rumours linking us with only couple strikers July is round corner would u think sign one or couple now to gell before start of the season plus which strikers are we linked with cheers ed.

{Ed002's Note - Aleksandar Mitrovic (S) I suspect very much first choice but time cannot be wasted as there is much interest from elsewhere - not least West Ham United and in particular Real Betis where I suspect he will end up
Callum Wilson (S) A more expensive option to Mitrovic who may stretch the finances and might well be difficult to attract - I would not hold your breath
Edin Dzeko (S) an enquiry has been made but with his age it would be only a short term fix - can't see it happening and the money could be better spent elsewhere - strike him from the list
Rafael Leao (S) watched by Everton after he impressed when the scouts were there to watch another player (Thiago Maia). Barcelona also has an interest in Rafael Leao and a number of other sides including Newcastle, Manchester City and Spurs have looked at him. It might be a tough ask to drop out of a Champions League club who don't want to sell him and move to Everton in the summer but I would not strike him off the list just yet
Borja Iglesias (S) Somewhere down the list as a back up option - would be better to keep Tosun - and he is another player Real Betis are looking to
Moise Kean (S) There have been a number of questions raised about Kean moving to Everton - I wouldn't hold your breath}

5.) 27 Jun 2019 12:29:40
I wasn’t actually taking a dig but okay.

6.) 27 Jun 2019 20:07:42
Hi Ed well looks like player from juva Jean wants move to inter Ajax has thrown there hat him for him think we can safely cross him off the list . next lol.

{Ed002's Note - I know - it has been going on for 9 months.}

18 Jun 2018 15:20:23
I know the talk at this stage is more around players we are looking to get rid of but do any of the Eds know of any players that we have concrete interest in?

CToffee

{Ed001's Note - I know there were a couple of players in Dutch football Brands was keen on before joining Everton, I can tell you them but there is no guarantee he would see them as being good enough for Everton. Van de Beek, Jahanbakhsh (I hope I spelt that right, he is playing for Iran in the World Cup anyway so you can check my spelling!), Vilhena and Frenkie de Jong.}

1.) 18 Jun 2018 16:04:22
I worry about players coming from Holland just look how hard Klassen has found the premier league.
Dutch football was great many years ago but not these days it is in sad decline like Scottish football. Once we got players fom Scotland but rarely now, this is why I am worried about the appointment of Brants.

2.) 18 Jun 2018 16:15:52
Great thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate. There are a few other players I would think, based on my opinions of their ability, that he might look to now he has Everton to recruit for. Obviously he is not going to be able to cherry pick the best talent from Ajax while he was there, but now he can potentially move for them.}

3.) 18 Jun 2018 18:47:16
Matthijs De Ligt is on brands list but Ajax will slap hefty price tag on him.

4.) 18 Jun 2018 22:20:06
Give them Klaassen back, that would bring the price down some.

5.) 19 Jun 2018 14:02:18
I don't get why everyone is so harsh on Klaassen, he has never been given a proper chance. I hope he gets his chance and plays well.

At least the season is over and we can all have a bit of a break now to rest and reset before looking forward to the same disappointments again next season.

Thanks to all the Eds for your hard work over what has been a never ending season.

CToffee

13 Jul 2020 13:26:17
Kind of indirectly related to Everton but with City essentially being given a light slap on the wrists, it’d be interesting to hear the Ed’s opinions on what this means for FFP.

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't mean anything for FFP at all.}

1.) 13 Jul 2020 15:18:59
I would imagine that clubs will be less fearful of UEFA’s “prosecutor, judge and jury” system now that this hearing has gone in the favour of the club.

2.) 13 Jul 2020 17:31:53
Although it won’t change the rules I just wonder what precedent it sets for the rules to be taken seriously going forward. I’m not savvy to the in’s and out’s of how seriously the rules were broken however.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps you should all try and understand the situation before suggesting changing the rules or making statements about club's being less fearful.}

28 May 2020 21:00:03
Looks like Gbamin is injured again. Is the guys made of paper?

CToffee

1.) 28 May 2020 23:02:45
Devastated for him, hope he can come back and be a good player for us, but it may never happen for him, especially if we bring in another CM when possible.

08 Aug 2019 13:22:34
Massive shout out to all the Eds (especially today) for all the half baked rumours, scouting and finance ITKs you must have to wade through on these pages.

CToffee

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

22 Jun 2018 09:39:26
Does anyone know what the progress is with McCarthy’s recovery and when he is expected back? I’m guessing he would have been moved on this summer if he was fit.

CToffee

1.) 22 Jun 2018 09:57:56
Depends if we sell Schneiderlin. If he goes we will need him to sit in front of the back 4. Gana is more of a wanderer, all be it an effective one.

2.) 22 Jun 2018 10:28:34
I feel like he is a different type of player to Schneiderlin though. McCarthy is more of a ball winner and has a more limited range of passing than Schneiderlin. If anything I feel like McCarthy and Gana are maybe too similar to be in the same team (loads of press but not much else) . Schneiderlin seems to operate more in the Barry mold of sitting deeper.

3.) 22 Jun 2018 10:32:41
McCarthy if he stays fit could be a good fit for Silvas style/ system.

4.) 22 Jun 2018 10:55:22
jmac is are best cm when fit.

5.) 22 Jun 2018 12:50:58
I'm almost there with you Johny.
McCarthy definitely is better with his distribution and always looks good when he plays for us. The downside is he rarely plays.

Are we looking for a starting CB ed or is it mainly back up options?

CToffee

{Ed002's Note - It will depend whether or not Everton can sell Mina - which won't be easy. Else it would be a Holgate replacement I would think.}

I don’t know if this is true or if this sort of thing is even possible but I read he has a clause in his contract that he can’t be loaned out in the last year of his contract unless it includes an option to buy.

Agree with Ed002. Can’t see the point in signing a CB who is almost 36 on what could only be really high wages. Presumably as a club we should be looking to get the hangers-on off the wage bill rather than adding more on. You would hope all that money could be better spent on brining in someone younger who could grow and contribute over the longer term and maybe have some kind of sell on value in the future.

We played essentially the same team we’ve been playing for the last 3 games and played a 4th game in 11 days. Utd made 9 changes from what is clearly a much deeper squad than ours. We didn’t play well but you could see those guys were running on fumes.

Ed this is maybe a silly question but is the fitness thing that they spend less time on fitness training or so it that there is just generally less training?

CToffee

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about with Everton, but at Bayern it was less fitness training and the training they did have was described by the players using words such as "laughable".}

The training comments are worrying. Our players look pretty unfit as it is and seem to be struggling to make it through one half let alone 90 mins.

CToffee

{Ed001's Note - that has been a consistent problem in Carlo's teams in recent years. It doesn't help that they won't be able to just meet down the park to do extra training at the moment!}
