1.) Completely agree!

And for once I agree with Joey Barton, shame he felt he had to wait until he retired to come out

hilarious article from the daily mail about how martinez has done nothing so far and how he is only doing well because of david moyes, about how coleman and barkley were made by moyes and martinez has had no say in their development whatsoever, how deluded all evertonians are saying moyes was our best ever manager and then he leaves and he is hated, about how we all owe him a huge debt and how last season we were in the same position we are now and how if martinez didn't have lukaku we wouldn't be in this position and how moyes didn't have lukaku and did better, are you still reading yet or are you asleep? if you are somehow still with me, the article us basically a load of rubbish written by a utd supporter or moyes' no 1 fan, doesn't take into consideration the exciting football, the way martinez speaks, the way we should be higher if not for some bad luck and the way he has improved several players such as seamus coleman and ross barkley (was barkley a regular last year? nope would he be if moyes was still here? nope), absolutely disrespectful towards bobby and what he has done so far and doesn't take into account the many times of heartbreak due to moyes' negative football, how he said we are holding players careers back, about how everton do not really need a manager, about how he was planning it all along, about how he insulted is with his bids and most of all the way he thinks he can just take what he wants now he has money to spend, sorry for the outburst but the article was poor and showed no respect for roberto, if its so easy being everton manager why didn't the writer of the article take the job? don't mean to cause anything but the article could of at least showed bobby some form of respect

1.) Cochise must surely be talking about a different article to the one other posters have written about.

3.) Just to wind you up Mike. I actually agree with some bits of the report as you put it. Don't get me wrong, I am very very happy under RM. But I was also very happy under DM. To explain more with facts. .
DM did decide to keep Barkley when releasing many other kids. He also blooded him into the first team slowly.
Coleman was Moyes' signing at 60K.
Last season we were in exactly the same (league) position as we are now from the reports I have read. We were also top of the entertainment leagues re shots at goal/chances created. Behind only Barcelona from memory.
Lukaku IS on loan and it worries me as to what happens when he is gone. Especially if we let Jelly go.
I do think RM speaks fantastically and says all the right things. I also think his signings to date have been great. (Kone replacing Anichebe being the exception but we have had this conversation before).
Would Barkley be playing under Moyes now? I would say yes. Barkley has developed and is more consistent now. In my view, Barkley was very inconsistent last season. To explain. Moyes picks that kid Janusaj at Utd now. You seem to have a view that Moyes was deliberately trying to hold Barkley back?I don't see that. I think Barkley has come on leaps and bounds and Moyes would be picking him now. just like Janusaj.
I am not insulted by "insulting bids" by Moyes. I understand that football is a business. .he would not eg offer 150 million for Baines. that would be throwing money away. It is purely business. He will try it on.
Likewise, I trust BK to tell Moyes to stuff any low offers!
I don't care what Moyes thinks or says now. do you? you seem to.
I also don't care what the Daily Mail says. .it has printed lies about politics and other things all my lifetime! So now it is having a go at Football! That's probably because the Mail is aimed at Grammar School educated Rugger fans. Try the Sun for a more unbiased report (only joking)
I Love you really Mike. I am going the game Saturday. Its a 12 hour round trip these days so I don't do it as often as I would like. If you fancy a pint, I will be going the Royal Oak before hand and would be glad to buy you one.

f defending and what to do with the ball but to say martinez has not improved him or barkley one bit is laughable, last season against arsenal barkley had to be neat and tidy no risks, this season he was running at them and leaving arteta for dead many times, he is playing januzaj because he doesn't have to sell him, here he knew playing barkley and allowing him to express himself would lead to him going, holding him back was perfect for moyes, it meant neville and osman could get another year of backwards passing the whole game without worrying about barkley taking over his clear favorites, he rejected many youngsters and kept barkley yes because he saw his talent but again did he use it? hell no he just chucked him to leeds to play right back and right midfield, he rejected many youth is another thing aswell, 'duffy will get his chance' did he? nope hello johny heitinga you can play after having your arse completely torn apart by benteke just last week, buys oviedo, what an exciting winger with pace? oh god no he will not cover every blaze of grass 60 times in a match let's allow him to get nice and comfy on the bench, degsy I have asked you this twice but never got an answer as my question would always be at the bottom of the page or just fall off, would you swap martinez to have moyes back? and thank you but I cannot have a pint with someone who thinks victor anichebe is good enough for the premier league ;)

Mike-Ox Long

5.) Hey Mike, I get the jist of most of your post, but not all of it. Firstly, you have never asked me would I take Moyes back. Right now the answer is a defo no! Do I think Barkley has improved? Read my post above. That is exactly what I am saying. That is why he is playing now. He improved under Moyes, and has improved further under Roberto. I do not believe Moyes tried to hold him back. period. I do believe Moyes was less of a risk taker than RM. and in that Moyes may have allowed Barkley to mature at the right pace. I agree about him being neat and tidy under Moyes and having more of a free role now. I think that has helped in his development. I think the team has benefited from this overall. I think DM set up the basis of a very good squad with very good players. RM has come in added 3 or 4 quality players to it and now we are all enjoying our football club. Duffy. I am guessing he has not quite got it at the moment, but may well still develop further? Victor Anichebe. I think you are cruel. The guy suffered some terrible injuries, so is behind in his development. I reckon he has the potential to be a good Championship player or Premiership squad player. I think he is as good as Kone. But we had this chat before.
I will be in the Royal Oak about 1.30 traffic from Devon permitting. Happy New Year Mike.

6.) OMG lads I've finally figured it out. Degsy is David Moyes!

7.) 06 Jan 2014 21:33:06
okay this is literally my seventh time attempting this reply as I keep clicking submit reply and it comes back up with all my text gone and having to redo it all over again, short one this time
moyes would of made barkley holding midfielder not allowing him to go at people
james vaughan had injuries look at him now
anichebe is crap, lazy, poor finisher and useless on the ball he rolled ciaran clark once and moyes said he is our drogba, lol, I said to my mate at the stsrt of the season gary cahill will get more goals than anichebe, he laughed but they are even on goals which for a striker is well embarrassing, in kone I trust ;)

seamie getting married, get in there lad, what a year for him, best right back in the league by quite a distance imo, runs all game, can outpace just about anyone, two footed and can both attack and defend, 60k well spent is an understatement, he is improving with every game and will only become more knowledgeable as he gets older, not only is he a quality footballer but also a very calm and nice person who doesn't think himself too good to even give you his autograph he would do it without asking, great role model and someone we are proud to have represent us, keep it up seamus!

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me mike..

1.) Mike-Ox Long being positive? It is still 2013 isn't it?

{Ed025's Note - the same thing happened to scrooge keith :) ..

2.) For the first time ever I will use the phrase "If my daughter brought him home and said "Dad, meet my fiancé". ", I wouldn't break the Browning out.

An impressive young man and a genuine definition of that overused cliche "role model".

Exciting times and oh so proud to be blue!

ratings:

joel-6-difficult to see from the lower bullens whether or not he should of saved their goal.

coleman-7.5-great goal and is the best right back in the league by quite a distance.

alcaraz-8.5-absolute rock at the back and is a very talented footballer, very calm on the ball and limited rodriguez and lambert to very little.

distin-8-solid as usual but maybe could of picked his passes a little better.

baines-7.5-good game on his return and was as reliable as ever.

osman-6-some poor touches and didn't track back but did some nice quick passes here and there.

mccarthy-7-put us in danger at least three times but sprinted back and won the ball each time, neat and tidy whilst also being as aggressive in the tackle as ever.

naismith-7-everton fans are so cruel when it comes to him, if barkley gives the ball away its fine, if naismith does it they moan at him and when he wins it back they do not even clap him, jumps for headers with anyone and worked his socks off as usual.

barkley-6-did some decent runs but his passing was poor and he kept trying to do tricks past people just 20 yards from our own goal.

oviedo-6.5-worked hard and put in a good cross which barkley should of buried but didn't have much room to make much of an impact.

lukaku-6.5-good goal and skinned 4 players and nearly scored again but was a bit slow on the ball at times.

mirallas-6-came on and like against sunderland he was non-existent.

pienaar-6.5-decent on the ball but kept going into tight spaces and losing the ball.

not at our best going forward today but certainly not bad and against a very good team so i'm happy and let's continue

1.) I respect that it's your individual opinion but I would have to disagree with you on a few of those ratings. I think that Barkley showed his class, created chances and worked hard, more like a 7.5. I personally would have given Lukaku an 8 as he worked hard, was a constant menace and created a few good chances. If he played like that every week I would be a happy man. Otherwise I would say you were spot on. Naismith played well and won practically every header he went for, and Alcaraz looked so comfortable in the team. Joel was a little dodgy but showed that he is fairly competent between the sticks. The main thing that today showed me is that we do have strength in depth as the players who came in did well.

2.) 30 Dec 2013 06:19:57
Mike Ox Long seems to have a problem with Barkley. God knows why. He is an outstanding performer who 90% of time makes the right decision. I have no idea why he insists on criticising him every week. It makes no sense at all. Maybe he would prefer fellaini in there.

3.) 30 Dec 2013 14:28:41
i have no problem with barkley mate it just annoys me how even if someone else clearly had a better game it is always barkley who gets the plaudits, he doesn't make the right decision 90% of the time, against sunderland he had many chances to pass the ball to put lukaku one on one but instead saw someone in the upper gwladys that he liked and kept giving him the ball, he makes many good runs and it is exciting to watch but his final ball is poor and he insists on shooting whenever possible, also against southampton he kept trying to nutmeg people just outside our penalty area and lost the ball nearly every time that put us in danger which again he will learn from and I have no doubt he will be world class but people need to calm down especially pundits who take every opportunity to say what a messiah he is and it is unneeded pressure

Mike-Ox Long

4.) Barkley has said himself that he has been told by Roberto to go and play how he wants, and will be given time to learn from his mistakes. He doesn't always make the right decision but I think that while some people will only point out the positives, others seem to be looking for the negatives. The way I see it, we look a far more dangerous team with Barkley in it, and unless his mistakes cost us points I'm not going to worry about it too much. I felt that yesterday the positive play, bursts of pace and attacking threat from Barkley far outweighed his mistakes.

remember that ab, that is fact from the messiah himself, if you do admit to a mistake (which we apparently learn from which is rubbish right) and say sorry it does, in fact mean you have more than one personality, there is no treatment just end it now hope to be reborn as someone worthy of db cooper, please sir I am not worthy, embrace me as your son, do not cast me aside of someone I shall not fail

mcgeady has a decent record for a winger, ince is an attacking player while mcgeady does track back and helps the team as a whole, mcgeady will cost nothing so I would rather spend nothing than 8m
