Yes Iwobi, Gomes and Davies are shocking and Begovic is poor but to see Godfrey now mentioned in the same breath? . really?
That said, Roydon clearly is overweight and unfit so why not play Simms and where was Iwobi when the centre backs are taking penalties?
A win against Norwich is more important than the win tonight so let's move on!

I agree DCL, but even with those players available i would expect us to be able to beat QPR. Letting in x2 goals with that defence when you consider they aren’t prem opposition just isn’t good enough. At least for once No fingers can be pointed at the manager as he can only work with the tools he has at his disposal and it’s up to some of these players to prove there worth.

Only Gordon and Townsend turned up tonight the rest should have stayed on the bus and given their shirts to, well anyone really. Benitez has got a big job on his hands. What I find unacceptable is putting Simms on the bench when you know you have absolutely no intention of playing him. Putting Iwobi up front was a shocking decision in itself but to have a lad that plays in upfront sitting on the bench and not use him what sort of a message does that send to the youngsters. Big mistake in my opinion.

We are not going to make top six and we won't get relegated. But being in cup competitions at least gives us a real chance of winning something.

The biggest surprise is that the fans are surprised! The majority of our squad has seen off a few managers already, a lot of them are just not good enough. The squad is paper thin but, again, we knew that going into the season.
The U23 squad is good enough for the Premier 2 league but obviously they aren't ready to step up and play regularly for the first team. I say obviously because yet another manager is ok to pick them for the bench to pad it out yet never give then a game.
Despite the decent start to the season, these problems have always been there. They won't go until rafa has managed to get rid of a few high eaners and is allowed to bring in his own playing staff. It's exactly the same as the last 2 or 3 managers we've employed!

More reports this morning that James wants to leave. don't think that would cause any issues at all as he was always a marketing transfer.
Doucoure and Godfrey (and Allan) on the other hand would be a disaster!

As you say rumours gathering pace, with Atletico looking the likely destination.
Whilst it would be a shame to see him go wouldn’t be unduly bothered by it. It’s not as if we paid out a fortune for him and he owes us anything.
He’s proven he can perform in the league, but if not settled and doesn’t like the aggression of the league can understand him wanting to move on.
We’ve had some flashes of pure brilliance from him but his brilliance has come at a price and leaves us defensively short at times.
He’s a luxury player and whilst it’s great to see him play I just don’t think we’re there as a team to be able to accommodate a luxury player like him every game as leaves us exposed.
Will wish him all the best in future endeavours if he does go.

Agree boys. While extremely skilful, doesn't work hard enough for me. Funny feeling this was a shop window transfer and we will move him on end of season but show other player we can bring in big names.

Was said at the time, they were bought to give an immediate boost and they did in that first Spuds game. That game the standout was Allan, he was immense tackling, cajoling, pointing players into position. My immediate thought was we have ourselves a leader. Alas haven't seen the same since, in fact the most consistent has been Doucoure.

So Cenk Tosun comes on as a late substitute on his "debut" for Besiktas and scores 2 and Moise Kean has scored for PSG against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and we couldn't muster a striker to start against Fulham and put on that embarrassing display?

To be fair moise kean has been scoring regularly and cenk has scored a couple when on international duty, but there not good enough for the prem simple as that.

Kean wants to leave, the Eds have been saying that for some time, need to hope we can secure a good deal, hopefully £30m+. Tosun, whilst being a great finisher clearly isn’t good enough, need to ship him on too.

Yes we have some very poor players and Godfrey isn't one of them but that was 100% better than last season for sure!

Don't get why Davies is always the target for abuse. he took a penalty which is more than can be said for the excuse of a player that is Iwobi
We know it's going to be a struggle this season with the lack of depth in the squad so rather lose tonight and pick up the form in the league. we still played better than we did last season so I'll take that as progress.
